Great layout , excellent greens , quick round..,very fast pace of play. Food and service always great!!

This golf course is the first stop for us every time we visit Chico. The course is well maintained with very professional staff, the cafe/grill has good options, and the pace of play is slow to normal with nice views. Jackson is the man here! He makes sure everything is operating smoothly and helps you out with anything you need. Definitely would recommend this place. read more

Good rate for what I thought would be an average golf course. What a surprise! Conditions were pretty good and it had a good layout for a muni. No range for warmup but not a problem when playing casual golf. Highly recommend for anyone traveling through the Chico area. read more

Overall great place but pace of play is always super slow. I've never played a round under 4.5-5 hours (even on a weekday afternoon). Maybe they stack the tee sheet a little too much. Also, I've never seen a course use so much sand when punching the greens. read more

There is this old guy who is an employee being a huge jerk to my family! He is not a family friendly person! He was yelling at my uncle who is visiting my family for the holidays! The place is a good place to golf but he should at least a write up! Bad customer service in my opinion! Not coming back here again! Hide your kids and family from that old guy! read more

They never group singles and doubles which inadvertently makes the course move at a snails pace, if 6 hour rounds are your thing than bidwell is the place for you! also they send out groups/singles with 7 minute tee times intervals instead of 10 like most courses in California. If your lucky the general managers who spends 10 plus minutes looking for his sliced OB ball will ask you what the f are you when you are trying to play through and will threaten to remove you from the course if you dare pass through his pathetic rage of play. The links in Corning is so much better than this crab grass roughs and dirt fairways. The general manager is a genius closing at 5:00 during summer months when it's still light out almost until 9:00. read more

Very lovely golf course. Impeccable customer service both on the phone when we reserved our T time and when we arrived. The gentleman who checked us in even explained the course. The course itself is somewhat patchy (they may be reseeding) but the scenery is beautiful. When we first arrived it was drizzling but the sun came out and really shined. I don't play myself but always love to ride along a with my boyfriend. The golf carts were clean and even the other players were very kind. Just a peaceful experience overall. read more

I've been playing Bidwell for 25+ years, on weekends. Recently I retired and I'm playing during the week now, whoo hoo! However, I've gone out 6-7 times over the last 2 months, and it has been soooo slow. Big bummer to play 5 hours during the week. Playing weekends in the past, I never had this issue, not sure what happened. New mgmt? I play by myself or w/ a friend, but just being a 2-some is not the issue. When there are 2 or 3 holes open a couple groups ahead of you, that's slow. Unfortunately, it's the only "game" in town. Nice course, though, and beautiful setting. read more

Golf is the cruelest game, because eventually it will drag you out in front of the whole school, take your lunch money and slap you around. ~Rick Reilly, Sports Illustrated But, after my first lesson with Mr. Tom Pyeatt, Bidwell Park's official Golf Pro, I felt like it may become a fair fight. Tom was able to identify the root problems in my stroke rather than the symptoms that I have heard time and time again from other instructors. If I were to hear "follow your intuition" one more time I was going to ask for a refund but thankfully those annoying words never came out of Toms mouth. Tom was totally professional and was truly out there to help me improve my game and not have me watch him show off his smooth moves (even though he clearly has that part down.) I also liked that he did not give me 4,000 things at a time to focus on like some instructors do. He made certain I was able to feel comfortable with the changes before he moved on which any blonde (real or fake) can appreciate. For me, I think a good golf instructor has the ability to slow me down and help me gain a good consistent shot with confidence. Tom was able to provide that. With that said, I definitely recommend him to players of all abilities and I will be looking forward to becoming a scratch golfer in no time with his help.....although I think I wlll settle for not getting slapped around on the course. My wife and I tried this track aug 22 for first time and really enjoyed it. Will return when we can. Greens were a bit furry / slow, but not a big issue. Must have seen 64 Deer, quail. People at clubhouse were wonderful and fellow golfers very friendly. We live in Bay Area and wish this gem was in our backyard. Golfers in Chico are fortunate!! read more

Bidwell Park golf course is a nice golf course, situated within an open park property 100 miles from Sacramento in Chico. Many deer and water fowl live on the park property. The course is moderately difficult (slope-126blues, 123whites). The greens rolled well, but were not very fast, affording aggressive putting with little problem. Since its a park, the trees lining the fairways are fully matured, offering full fairway borders, obstructing errant drive shots to the greens. The roughs aren't crazy high. There are a lot of large leaves on the course, making finding balls challenging, even right down the middle of the fairways - take a little more patience with you this time of year. It was well worth the drive - a good examination of skills and not very expensive. read more

Awesome muni. golf course! Student rates are great and keep me coming back. The course has definitely improved since ownership has changed. The bar and grill has good quality service and has improved. I will continue to come back as long as I'm in Chico, see you on the turn. read more

Several weeks after I posted my review below the manager of Bidwell Golf Course contacted me and asked me if I would come in for a free lunch so that they could show me that the treatment I was subjected to the first day I went in there is not the norm for their restaurant. So I took him up on the offer and today my girlfriend and I went in unannounced and ordered lunch. We had the club sandwich with french fries and it was phenomenal! and the lady behind the counter was very kind, informative and helpful. The atmosphere was warm & welcoming and the golf course is just beautiful. They have four big screen TVs and we were able to watch the Olympics while we had lunch. I can't wait to go back and have breakfast on their patio and enjoy the beautiful scenery of upper Bidwell Park! so I have changed my review to a 5 because without knowing it was me they gave me great service, good food and great atmosphere. I believe everybody deserves a second chance! My previous Review. ....... .......... I walked into Bidwell Golf Course bar and grill for the first time ever I figured since it was a golf course they typically have really good food and excellent service I waited about 10 minutes nobody was behind the bar nobody inside the Restaurant Group tables outside with people sitting at them it's the middle of a Saturday afternoon the lady finally comes in and after I'd kind of peruse the menu I asked her very kindly what size are your hamburgers she replies there medium sized I said well are they like a quarter pound half pound of a pound ? Her reply was we are not McDonald's I said I obviously know you're not McDonald's but every burger place in Chico and everywhere in the world that I've ever been 2 knows what size of Patty that they serve I'm just trying to determine if I need a whole hamburger or not and she said well I don't know and I'm too busy so what do you want. In a very clipped rude manner. well figuring that if this is her behavior and attitude before I even ordered I was slightly frightened to have her cook my food and I proceeded to leave so that's my experience with Bidwell Bar and Grill at the golf course very sad one indeed. customer service is the first thing that tells you about a restaurant or any food establishment and sadly I can only give them one star because I couldn't even get to the point of trying the food she was so rude and inconsiderate read more

I only played this course once and it was okay. It is a fairly tight course in certain spots. I was spoiled by SC golf courses so nothing in CA is really that great especially when you have to pay so much for average courses. read more

Bidwell golf course has been the greatest golf course in chico for me. The landscape is always beautiful and the animals that live there are always fun to look at while playing a nice relaxing game. The staff is great and the place is way more affordable than all of the other courses in chico. Even in the summer I'm so impressed by how green everything stays. Beautiful, well maintained golf course. The staff (from maintenance, pro shop, instruction and the GM) are all top notch and welcoming. They treat every customer like their most valuable. Just had my second 5 + hour round in a row. Love the layout and course is usually in good condition. But the pace of play, the 8 minute tee times, the 3 (yes 3) 5somes within the next 6 groups in front of us ruins a day off. My suggestion is 10 minute tee times, no 5somes and get a marshall. read more

I love the food here! Always great service to compliment the menu. I had something happen at lunch recently, though, that really took me by surprise. My wine was served in a broken glass. When I took it up to the server she just poured it into another glass and handed it back to me. Not cool. read more

First of all this is not about golfing, this is about partying. I rented the use of their club/Bar for a our service club Halloween party and it was AWESOME! I had called around to a half dozen venues to find a place that could take a group our size and stick to our little budget. They were less than half of any other place in town! They let us bring in our own food and it was cheep to rent their chaffing dishes to keep our food warm. They let us set up early and come back the next morning for take down. We had a DJ and they have a good layout where we even had a dance floor! We had also talked about drinks and they created a couple a specials just for our occasion. I was very pleased with our interaction from first contact until we finished cleaning up. I will be using them for future events for our club and for personal parties. It's beautiful inside and the staff was very helpful! If you are wanting a small group option they have a banquet room that I think can handle 30 people. Our group was around 60 so we used the banquet room as well as the Bar/Club room. I wish I had pictures to show because its beautiful inside not to mention the view looking out! read more

My husband LOVES this golf course. However, he was given a gift card from Bidwell golf course, and when he went to redeem it, they refused. They had changed golf associations, and directed us to contact said association for return of the value of the card. Though we sent many emails, and actually been told that the "money is in the mail" we've yet to receive it. Very sad that Bidwell GC wouldn't honor the gift card and take on onus of getting the money that they SOLD returned. read more
