Nope. It was a…read morecrowded day, I totally get that. We were there about 2 hours and when we arrived there were no skate trainer assists available to rent. I put my name on a wait list. 20 min later, I noticed many people had returned their skate assists. There were probably 6 of them behind the desk. I probably asked 5x or more if it was our turn on the wait list, every time I was told no. At one point the girl said "you're welcome to walk around out there with your own child" I have a hurt shoulder and a prosthetic hip, otherwise I would've :( Long story short, my son sat on the bench next to the skate rentals, waiting for his turn on the wait list, fighting back tears. In the 45+ min we waited, no one from the wait list ahead of us collected a single skate trainer. And we were repeatedly told we couldn't use one. I definitely understand waiting our turn, but when no one ahead is coming to collect them..... The guy at the skate rental place when we first arrived was super nice tho! But the girls I wasn't impressed with.

I love that they have the smaller area for babies/small toddlers and the climbing area for bigger toddlers/young kids. The climbing wall for kids, too, which I can imagine my kids using more in a few years. The area is always well-kept, feels clean and safe, and check in is easy once you've signed the waivers. We also had my son's birthday party here and they made it so easy to book, host, etc. The real reason I'm writing this review is that on one of our most recent trips to play here, I noticed their exceptional care and attention to detail in two ways- first, my son and his friend bonked heads, as 3 year olds do, and one of the guys working came right into the play structure to check on them because he heard them crying. He even offered an ice pack. So kind! Later during our time, I saw him step in and address a child's behavior who had been very very rough and consistently rude and aggressive with other kids. He went right up to the child's caregiver and gave a warning and a consequence after the behaviors he had been observing (we saw the same!). I was so impressed and I'm grateful that they are really watching and making sure all the kids are safe, beyond just physically. Major respect! Appreciate it!

Update: I grew a new appreciation for WaterSprites after participating in CARD swim lessons. Don't…read moreget me wrong, I LOVE that there is a more affordable option offered for the Chico area and that it's much cheaper than WaterSprites (by about half), but being able to go into an indoor temperature controlled pool without having to put on sunscreen and be blinded by the sun and having all the changing tables and cubbies is just a far superior and more calm experience. At the PV pool where CARD lessons are being held, they have a nothing other than a narrow bench around the border of a large room. It's not like I can change my baby ahead of time because swim diapers only hold in solids, so I find this extremely inadequate for the age group the swim lessons are offered for. My impression is that the instructors at WaterSprites are also much more specialized in working with the younger babies and kids. I guess I'm more into the bougie over the budget experience, LOL. Water sprites also did end up finding us a spot in the other class that worked for our new schedule, so that was much appreciated. That being said, our experience in the Tuesday 1 PM class versus the Tuesday 9 AM class was just totally different. In the Tuesday 1 PM class, the temperatures in the pool and the room were exactly where they needed to be, and there was only the baby class going at that time. When we changed to the 9 AM class due to our new schedule conflict (this was in January), we learned that the pool and the room were much cooler because it hadn't had a time to warm up. There also seemed to be another small class operating at the same time. With the babies, I was of the opinion that the temperature being high enough and having the very calm, lower stimulating environment were critical. Ultimately, we did end up canceling our membership because it was definitely a push for my husband to take her in the morning before work, and then to be confronted with temperatures that were still a bit too cold and an environment that was a bit too overstimulating for our baby (6 months old at the time), it was just.... Not quite "there" enough to continue at that age and time of our lives and at that premium price. That is not to say that they didn't do a good job. While there is some improvement that could be made, overall, you cannot get that same service elsewhere in Chico and we would probably return to water sprites if/when the stars align

Like every single Refuge we've ever been to where there is an auto tour, you can pay cash, but not here! You had to scan these stupid QR codes which lead you to a website which doesn't provide any user friendliness, so unless you've already been through the hurdles to just find where to make a payment, you're screwed.
