It's very useful and I love to see a lot of people be utilizing it. The park is clean and maintained and every time I have visited there have been a lot of people walking or playing with their dogs and children playing and riding bicycles. This is a great spot for a picnic or a walk or just to sit in the shade and relax. It also has one of those tiny free libraries in case you want to grab a book and just read for a while. They have two picnic tables, one on each side of the park and a water bottle refilling station. Even though it's a small park, I came here many times when I was in the area I would love to give it five stars but there is no restroom here and I saw lots and lots of people not picking up after their dogs. So walking in the beautiful green grassy area can be kind of a mind field. . Oh and they also have a couple of disc golf stations but I don't play and I never saw anyone using them just in case that helps.

This place has a very cool bike obstacle course. They have 2 different levels. We walked to see the water and I seen a fish jump out of the water. There is a lot of shade while we were walking. I did go in to the art and gift shop and the drawing was fantastic. I was talking to the lady that works there and she said they change every month a different artist so do check them out. I would come back to this park and recommend anyone in the Redding area to go.

Who names their park "Library", they do. The whole town was there with beach chairs and the band was playing Beatles songs. Food trucks there. Shave ice with more than 20 flavors and you help yourself. How cool. Kids swimming. Raffle winners being announced. I think they have a concert once a month on Friday nights. Look for the flyer or Google it. Summer series. Plenty of picnic tables, playground, and restroom. Bring your chairs and find your spot. Dance the night away.

But for individuals still skateboarding or looking to take it up, the Auburn Skate Park will definitely be of interest to you. The Skate Park is right next to the Auburn Overlook Park. They share a parking lot and restroom facilities. Parking is free and so is use of each park. The Skate Park interior was clean when I dropped in a few weeks ago in a Saturday. Like most all skate parks, the rules are that all riders must wear a helmet and wear knee and elbow pads. But the park is unsupervised and I saw a lot of boarders (young and not so young) not wearing gear or partial gear. No one made a peep. Plus the city's recreation website, advertising the skate park, has a photo of a skate boarder in action without gear.

You can buy your cool clothes, your cool shoes, and build your own cool skateboard from the deck up. It's clean, uncluttered, and the staff really know their stuff! I'm a big fan of supporting local skate businesses, especially now that there are so many chain mall stores competing for your business with lower prices and easy access. Still, I'll take an Indie store over a chain store any day! Bonus points for having a 50%-off sale rack! I like cheap. And extra-double bonus points for giving us a whole stack of free stickers! Our son's stroller is now the coolest stroller on the block. He especially loves the "I (heart) Skate Moms" one. Nope. It was a…read morecrowded day, I totally get that. We were there about 2 hours and when we arrived there were no skate trainer assists available to rent. I put my name on a wait list. 20 min later, I noticed many people had returned their skate assists. There were probably 6 of them behind the desk. I probably asked 5x or more if it was our turn on the wait list, every time I was told no. At one point the girl said "you're welcome to walk around out there with your own child" I have a hurt shoulder and a prosthetic hip, otherwise I would've :( Long story short, my son sat on the bench next to the skate rentals, waiting for his turn on the wait list, fighting back tears. In the 45+ min we waited, no one from the wait list ahead of us collected a single skate trainer. And we were repeatedly told we couldn't use one. I definitely understand waiting our turn, but when no one ahead is coming to collect them..... The guy at the skate rental place when we first arrived was super nice tho! But the girls I wasn't impressed with.
