That said, perhaps I am not far along enough, but did not find anything too challenging. After reading so much about staying active and getting your heart rate up this is better than nothing, but do not come intending to break a sweat. At $33 per class the manager should purchase new pink mats as I was forced to buy toe socks for "sanitary reasons". The mats were full of holes and stained and not cleaned between classes- big turnoff...*especially* for someone concerned with sanitary issues. ... The toe sock requirement should have been mentioned on mindbody (there are a number of opportunities on MB to do so) prior to booking or in the LONG text message I received with directions. I have never worn toe socks to pilates before...but like I said it is not really pilates. My husband and I came to TGP just for information on hospital birth and ended up being blessed in so many ways by the employees there. After meeting and becoming informed by Michelle, one of the owners, we decided to hire a doula in order to have assistance during the birth of our first baby. Their doula services come at different prices in order to ensure that everyone from varying financial backgrounds can have access to this vital service. Our doula, Florencia, was a rock for us during the birth. She kept me focused and ensured that I got the birth that I wanted for baby and me. All the doula services come with access to three very informative classes. Take advantage of these and their very knowledgeable team! We learned so much and met other families going through this experience. It was wonderful. I can't say enough and express how grateful I am to these ladies. They made the community real for me when I didn't think it possible. I had arranged to have the two female doctors at the practice I used be available to assist my birth. The day I went into labor, my doctor and her backup became unavailable. Leaving me to their male doctor who had been particularly unkind to me at previous visits. I was a wreck laboring thinking he would be at the delivery. My doula contacted the owners at TGP and they made magic happen. Through their help I was seen and had my baby delivered at the hospital by an amazing midwife. My situation may not be common but their assistance was amazing and made the community of women empowering child birth real to me. It goes without saying my husband and I couldn't be more grateful for their services. Our little baby boy was born healthy, naturally, and drug free this past May.

At 34 weeks, my doula contacted me via EMAIL to inform me she was moving out of state and no longer able to attend my birth or provide postpartum support. Frantically I tried to find a new doula but at that point there weren't many options and I did not have anytime to build rapport. They gave me an alternate doula who was listed as a level I (I paid for level IV) and then tried to suggest that their website was not up to date. They were also impossible to get in touch with and only communicated by text and email. I ended up not being able to have any doula support at very complicated early induction due to preeclampsia where I ended up having every intervention under the sun short of a c section to make sure my daughter could be safely delivered. My daughter just came home from nicu and I have no postpartum support - my family does not live near me and with the covid resurgence they are not able to come - another reason why I wanted a doula. The kicker is, the Gathering Place won't even give me a full refund after all of this. If having a doula is an important part of your birth plan or postpartum plan, I would highly recommend going elsewhere to ensure you actually have one when your baby actually arrives.

Horrible horrible horrible experience with the doula who I paid extra for because of her experience not only as a hypnobirthing doula but also as a midwife and LC, named Sharon. I went to their open house and it was a very warm experience. I thought it was an informative experience as well but now I realize I wasted hours of my time there. Why? Because they just yes yes yes-ed me on everything. This one payment covers the entire time I am in labor? "YES". What if it takes hours or days? "Yes it's still covered" No matter how long?!? "Yes no matter how long" Can they advocate for me if the doctor does something I didn't want? "Yes absolutely" So they will confront the doctor? "Yes" Will the doula take pictures and videos of the birth? "Yes" My doula will come to me to labor at home and then we go together to the hospital? "Yes" Every single question I had I was told yes by both amazing births and the doula I ended up hiring. Of course, that was just so I end up working with them. They will tell you everything you want to hear. In reality that is not the case. My doula came to my home to labor with me in the beginning stages. I ended up in the tub alone and I'm not sure where she was but she was sleeping. At a certain point I tried to get out of the tub myself and after failing over and over I had to keep calling my doula until she woke up and came to help. When it was time to go to the hospital suddenly my doula said she has to go home to take care of a few things but will meet me there. Ok. Wish she would have informed of that earlier because I was told by her AND amazing births that she will come with me to the hospital. So she went home, fed her cats, took a nap etc. Too much time had passed and she never arrived to the hospital - I was already checked in at this point and had gone for a long walk to help progress labor (kept asking my doula what I can do to help progress my labor, should I walk because my friends doula told her to do that, but Sharon kept insisting that there is nothing I can do. Yet the second I got to the hospital the nurse told me to walk walk walk their hallways to progress the labor.) I called my friend to ask what moves I can do on the birthing ball to help and got yelled at that why am I paying for a doula and where is my doula that's her job to help me with this stuff. That's when I realized my doula has been missing for a very long time and I called her. I MID LABOR HAD TO CALL HER. She said she will be right over. Then some time passed. ALOT OF TIME. Still a no show. No phone call or follow up text either. So I had to call her again and she said the police had locked down the street and she can't get out and was still home. A health care professional in an emergency can't get out?! Really?! Only after we inquired for the backup doula was she suddenly able to sneak out. My doula did nothing to help me with my labor pains. She just sat in her chair while I tried to do breathing techniques on my own. She didn't do a single hypnobirthing technique nor did she massage me. It was a horrible experience. I had to deal with each contraction on my own and in the end couldn't handle it anymore and had to get epidural and pitocin. I also looked to her for advice on the epidural and pitocin but she just kept insisting she didn't know. She also said that if a certain Dr was the delivery driver then she had no power and it would be his way. Funny though because during the interview I told her I was looking for someone specifically to work with this doctor and she said she has it handled and in the past had even had to take him out of the room and argue with him. Ah more lies she told. So this women who didn't touch me didn't massage me and completely neglected me during labor when it came time to push guess who was right there holding my leg?!!! I was so taken aback!! No one asked her to do that. In fact we specifically had asked her to take pictures and videos during the birth. And I was stuck pushing the entire time thinking look at her standing there proudly like she earned that spot when she didn't do a single thing. Thank gd my husband realized and asked one of the hospital staff to take videos. Of course we missed out on some of it. And when the baby was born guess what Sharon did then? Snapped a picture of us on HER OWN PHONE WITHOUT OUR PERMISSION!!! Who does such a thing! I had to ask her to delete it. There's more but Yelp only allows a certain length. We were so let down by the entire experience we did not bother with the follow up. Which was a shame as my baby did need the help of an LC and ended up on formula. Choose wisely. Choose someone who you know personally worked with a doula. Don't hire blindly regardless of how great they sound on paper or in the interview. Sometimes you are better off with a good friend or family member.

That's…read morewhen I decided to have a VBAC and thought that prenatal yoga would be critical in achieving an easier and natural birth. What I found was much more important than just a yoga class, I found a community! Debra is an amazing childbirth educator! I enjoyed the yoga classes because it wasn't just about yoga - it was about the whole birthing process. My husband and I also took her Hypnobirthing class which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Debra gives insight on all things birthing. When I talked to her about my VBAC plans, she recommended that I see Dr. Sancetta, who is widely known in the South FL community for VBACs. Sure enough, in my 34th week, after my initial consultation with Dr. Sancetta, I changed medical providers. My first baby came via c-section after a long 30 hour labor. I pushed for 3 hours and she never moved an inch. My doctor at the time told me that I had a "small" and "tight" pelvis which is why Baby #1 got "stuck". He told me that my subsequent labors most likely would go the same way and I might always have a hard time delivering naturally. Fast forward 18 months, and I was able to achieve my natural and unmedicated VBAC and I have to thank Debra for that. I truly believe that what I learned from Debra's yoga class, in addition to chiropractic care, helped to properly align my pelvis and create more space for the baby. The morning that I was in labor, I texted Debra to let her know that I wouldn't make it to class because I thought I was in early labor. She replied that if it was still early, I should come in to stretch, relax, and open up the hips. As I wasn't in too much pain yet, I decided to go - definitely had some contractions in class and she showed me how to breathe through them. Baby was born 4 hours later! Almost delivered in the car. Showed up to the hospital at 10cm. I was shocked to say the least. Thank you Debra for all your help and believing that I could do it!
