I already had two previous children (Ages 17- natural birth - and the second one, age 11 - Cesarean). So it was like starting over again for me. A Doula from Texas referred me to Esther since we live in the same area. Our first consultation was like talking to my sister. I learned more about pregnancy and childbirth after our first consultation, and even more, when I attended her Childbirth Education classes, than I have ever learned. After discussing my plan to have a VBAC (Vaginal Birth after Cesarean), she helped me mentally and physically prepare for what's to come. She helped eliminate all of my fears of labor and birth with her extensive knowledge and educational content. Her presence during the birth of my daughter was such a tremendous help. She picked up the phone within the first ring (after my water broke at home), and she was on her way to see me promptly. She helped me NOT PANIC (LOL) during contractions on my way to the hospital. She was very professional and nurturing and very calming while I felt like I wanted to lose control. She even had some aromatherapy oils! While I was going through labor, she collaborated with my Doctor and nurses on my behalf to inform them of my plan. The staff followed through. Not only did she help ME, but she also helped the dad by educating him as well of what's going on. We both put our full trust in her. My daughter, Sage, was born within three hours from the water breaking to delivery. All natural, no pain medicine, no induction, no rupture (even after a C-Section), no episiotomy, no tearing....nothing, came a beautiful and healthy baby girl. I truly believe that my ability to keep calm and my Doula's way of changing my perspective on how childbirth should be, greatly attributed to such an amazing birth. Not only did she stop there, but she was there for me throughout postpartum (and postpartum depression) even if it was just for a listening ear. If I had to do it all over again, I definitely would! I called nearly every midwife and every location in Miami and around. I ended up going with magnolia even though it was far. But towards the end my husbands and my gut was telling us this wasn't the place. I still hadn't met the midwives that were going to attend my birth in that practice after being ther over 6 months! , just students etc. it just felt very disconnected and we decided to leave at around 7 months. (I wanted to feel secure in my decision of magnolia and I waited and waited but never did.) I ended up going the homebirth route after much thinking, found a midwife from a recommendation. (Won't mention her name because she apologized for what happened & returned my money). I debated in getting a doula until the last minute, which was Lili (from midwives of Miami), best decision i ever made. I followed my gut! My water broke 10 days before my due date. Lily was in my house in less than hour. I never felt alone w her. She asked me to also text my midwife and I did... but my midwife kept pressuring me about giving birth within 24hrs or she would have to hand me to a hospital.. which created more stress because my labor kept stalling. Well long story short, My midwife never showed up. So in the middle of my labor I no longer had anyone to help me in my birth. I was devastated, my labor completely stopped from the stress. Lily with me through the entire time, kept trying to give me hope and options... and tried to keep me calm. She said her best friend was a midwife and we could make it happen. But I didn't know Lily too much or anyone else. So I decided to take a leap of faith because I did not want an unwarranted hospital transfer. Lily came through brought Melanie, sheily and Ana. These women showed up for me last minute so I wouldn't be left alone. They left from work and came to my home to help me deliver this baby at home. With confidence!! Between them all they had so much experience in the medical field, specifically labor & delivery. (Years of experience). So I felt confident in their ability. But they trusted my ability to give birth to his baby more and I felt it! Melanie was an angel on earth, such calm. Her calm made me feel calm. I needed coaching towards the end and I followed, then my baby was out in no time!! They all acted so quick! In everything. Melanie sowed me back up, right there on my bed. Then I went straight to sleep after breastfeeding. They cleaned everything up. And I rested. I will be forever grateful for them all and for coming through in such short notice. These are the women you want on your side!! Because they TRULY love what they do! You can see& feel it. Now Lily offers postpartum care... I would jump on it all!! I wish that was an option back then. Couldn't have done it without Lily. My husband was there with me every second, but there's something about having a woman with experience there for you. My baby is about to turn a year old, and I can't wait to tell him about the angels God send my way. Love you girls so much. Thank you for the bottom of my heart I will never forget you. I completed an online inquiry form and was called right away the following day. I had a chance to do a free phone consult first with Dr. Luly and discuss my questions and figure out if I wanted to move forward with a consult. I could get in for an appointment very quickly and Dr. Luly was absolutely wonderful. She took the time to assess my symptoms in detail and give me concrete direction on a PT plan. I'm 34 weeks pregnant and so glad I found Freya through my doctor's office. I feel I'm going into delivery and postpartum so much more prepared. As far as office and location, the office itself is very clean and organized and the building is not so hard to find -they also gave me good directions. Parking was $4/hr in the building which isn't bad but the parking structure is somewhat tight. I recommend street parking if you can find a spot. Overall, really great experience!
