Bharti's is my neighborhood dry cleaner and tailor the work they do always exceeds my expectations, and it stands the test of time. They can do the simple stuff like getting stains out of clothes, hemming and alterations without worry, but when you have a challenging item....they will amaze you with the results. Hockey jersey need repair?? DONE! Lucky interview shirt needs collar fixed? DONE!! My son has a stuffed dog that over the years has needed what we call "spa day" at Bharti and each and every time we bring it in to get patched the work is amazing, I mean seriously they put new eyes in him, sewn him up, re-stuffed, and at this point could be a contender for the $10m stuffed animal. Bharti and her husband are very knowledgeable on Indian garments and cleaning process. They informed me of materials that they were able to clean properly and materials that would melt in the process. They help me remove plastic buttons that would melt and replace them with those that would endure the process. The clothes came out, smelling, wonderfully and looking like New! This was a very WONDERFUL experience. My daughter bought me a very nice Coach purse, BUT I hate short handles, you know where the purse is in your arm pit. So onto Amazon I go, find longer handles, which matched perfectly BUT were way too long. So called a few cleaners, very unfriendly on the phone and certainly not accommodating considering it was a very simple cut 1 end of the strip and fold it over the clasp and sew...LITERALLY THAT WAS IT. I have no sewing machine so I could not do it myself. One was downright rude and was going to take 7 to 10 days because they send it out. Called Bharti's and WOW...talk about so friendly on the phone. AND would do it same day and a a price not more than the purse. So drove there and man, he was just as nice. Dropped it off and when I went back the ladies were just as super nice and they were cut and sewn perfectly. Clipped them on and could not be happier with the workmanship and the NICEST PEOPLE EVER. I may be a bit biased with this review because my dad knows the owners but they have done great work and are so nice to us when we come in! I've brought my bridesmaid dress here to get hemmed, my sister has brought numerous dresses here too. Recently, we brought Ryan's suits for our wedding to get tailored and Darius was very nice and gave us suggestions on length of pants cause we know nothing. They work decently fast too (depending on what you bring in) but they said they could finish Ryan's two suits within a week! So far I have been satisfied with everything they have done for us! I had a sari top stitched here. They were able to do a rush job and finished it early, but no one called to tell us it was done early. I was given a top but it was not the design I had asked for (wrong back shape, not as low cut as I wanted in the front or the back, no band beneath the bust), but it fit well enough (except my chest hangs out the bottom). It is unfortunate because it used all the fabric I had so I just bought a different top that looks ok with the sari. The top was really expensive especially for the quality of the job. read more

Bharti did a fabulous job with my dress! She saved me $75 (by fixing my bridesmaid dress and preventing me from buying another bridesmaid dress at the last minute). She was super quick and very communicative about the prices. This is not the first time Bharti has saved my family or friends from a dress disaster! Bharti is a lifesaver! I bought my outfits for my wedding in India and when they sent them over to the states, they were five sizes too big but bharti fixed all of them up in about a months time! It's not cheap but you get what you pay for - and they have overhead to pay for as well since it's an actual store and not someone's house so keep that in mind. Awesome alterations but horrible dry cleaning. I have dry cleaned my clothes there a total of three times and all times were not the best. The last straw was when I picked up the last dry cleaned clothes and my very expensive (costume made skirt) came back with all the beads melted and some were hanging off the skirt. I didn't even notice the damage until I wanted to wear the skirt again (a few months later) and saw the damage. I was so upset. The alterations on the other hand gets a two thumbs up. Customer service is hit and miss but overall okay. read more

Bharti is very sweet and takes great pride in her work, as she should, because she does a great job. She made my blouse for my wedding sari, as well as a bunch of other blouses for me, my sister-in-law, and mother-in-law. This place was probably the worst place I've ever been to. Right when I entered the Indian guy in the front didn't even say hello and seemed to be annoyed that we came in. When I asked him to fix a shirt for me he told me to put it on without even asking what I needed help with. I had him have the seamstress come out who was even worse. She didn't understand what I wanted done and kept saying no she couldn't do it. I opened up the shirt to explain to her in detail and she just walked away from me saying no she couldn't do it. They acted like we were asking us to do them a favor for free. When I asked the Indian guy how much they charge he told me to come back later. They are extremely rude and unprofessionally. The lining in my beloved 20 year old bomber style leather jacket was in tatters. I hated the thought of giving it up. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to see an ad from Bharti's Tailors in a flyer even with a discount coupon. I took the jacket in, she looked at it and said she could certainly replace the lining, the worn out pocket interiors and having it looking as good as new. She recommended a beautiful quilted lining for added warmth and I agreed. I went to pick up the jacket today and am thrilled with the result. She did a beautiful job replacing the lining, even sewing in the original labels! She also re-lined the interior breast pocket and the two side pockets so this favorite 20 year old jacket has a completely new lease on life. I recommend her work highly! read more

This is my go to place for any alterations or dry cleaning. Other than the flawless dry cleaning service they also do alterations. I was skeptical of how good the quality would be but I opted for them to replace a zipper on a snowboarding jacket I had just bought. The zipper is still working great after 2 years, and I could not be happier. A 36 dollar zipper replacement is much better IMO than buying a new jacket. read more

While the people are nice, I feel that they are specifically focused on working on Indian saris, and their expertise does not extend to other garments. While they said they coud take in my gown, it took several trips to get it to fit even though I specifically said from the start "take it in as much as possible. make it tight." Even so, the end product was not fitted the way I would have wanted, but I was out of time (also on the phone they said a week to do it and then when I took it in gave me a 2-week timeframe). read more

I needed a sari blouse altered for a wedding and was at a complete loss as to where to take it. Bharti's came highly recommended from a coworker and it was incredible. The woman who does the alterations is there from 2-7 and is very patient and nice. My blouse was huge and needed to be taken in a bunch and she only charged me $15. When I came back to pick it up (less than 1 week later) she had me try it on again and said the sleeves needed to be taken in more and did the work on the spot so I didn't have to come back. Absolutely love this place! Their prices are VERY fair/reasonable, they do fantastic work on leather bags, zippers and beading. I go in there, I am out in five minutes and it's quick and they are busy and they are very good!!!! I will take anything there that needs to be fixed, from the seams on leather skirts, to all zippers on anything and everything. I drive 20 minutes to get there, but it is worth it. I heard of this miracle shop from my sister who had her wedding dress altered by Bharti just a few years ago. I knew if my sister could trust her, so could I. I'm glad I came here, she altered all of my Indian outfits (7 in total) correctly the first time and no matter how much you spend on an outfit - if it doesn't fit correctly, it won't accentuate you or your outfit. All in all, I highly recommend Bharti's Tailors for all of your alteration needs along with dry cleaning and don't expect to come here to bargain...you're paying for the quality of work and it's well reflected in their craftsmanship....so save your bargaining chips for another day. read more

I went to this business to have a couple winter coats zippers fixed or replaced. I picked up the coats after the alterations were done, but was not very satisfied with the work. There were threads hanging all over the place, and the sewing began to come apart within a few days. I did not inspect the coats before I left the business, My fault! The overall feeling when I was there was that I was a burden, instead of a paying customer. read more

Probably the WORST place to get anything altered if you care about being ripped off. I made the mistake of THINKING that maybe in 5 years since my engagement where they steamed and burned my engagement outfit that they may have improved their practice but i was very wrong. I had an outfit that was extra extra huge and needing a ton of altering so she wrote on my copy of the receipt that she will call for pricing before making any alterations. She called and said the total would be $85 considering the work that needed to be done. I immediately told my husband since my mother in law was getting this all done for me (she bought the outfit and wanted to pay for the alterations). 2 weeks later I called and asked if it was ready and they said yes and when i asked again what the total was it was suddenly $10 more. Bharti went into a rant and kept cutting me off....so much for customers always right...and then had the audacity to make ME sound cheap for fighting over a measly $10 when in actuality her and her business have found way to dupe customers by claiming its a lot of work without having to write anything on the receipts. Shame on me as a consumer for not taking the "call for price" receipt back and having them write their price on it. Had i known Bharti was still just a money grubbing con artist I would've been much wiser and sought alteration services elsewhere. Serves me right for thinking some people can become better business men and women over time. If you absolutely NEED to go here, make sure you get EVERYTHING in writing. And be mindful of how she speaks to you or about her other customers in front of you because she should not, in any form, be in a customer facing business. read more

their alteration service is not to be trusted. I asked for specific type of stitches to match the original and they said they can. they charged me and it fell apart right away. I brought it back to have them redo it and the lady who said she can do it started making excuses and sail she wouldn't fix it again even if this doesn't work. I had no intention of having them do anything to my clothes after this. and of course they couldn't make it work the 2nd time. no refund was made. unprofessional and has no pride on their own work. read more

In the past i have taken my wedding dress and they did a wonderful job, then took my moms dress and did a wonderful job however 7 years later I decide to take 4 suits & two pants needed to be hemmed which became a nightmare. They do not explain themselves good at all, have people there that cannot give estimates, and seem clueless. My sons suit jacket i took to get cleaned and didnt look like it was cleaned at all, i even removed a stain with my nail. I was so unhappy and asked them to fix the hemming problem and dirty jacket and all the ladys husband could say is there were "to busy to fix" . Made it clear I will never go back.. I took 2 Indian dresses in to get tailored - one needed a zipper and one needed to be shortened. They did a decent job on both but I felt they were very rude. Bharti is extremely busy but she really should improve her customer service. She seemed visibly annoyed anytime I asked her a question, and gave short terse answers in response. Each time I went there, I had to wait for a good 10 min for anyone to even acknowledge that I was standing there. She also charges a lot so I'm sure you could get a better price elsewhere. read more

I think they do a descent job on altering Indian outfits. she is quite pricy. Having said that if she does a good job on fixing things I am willing to pay the price. Even after being in this country for so long they have no customer service. If you call them they are very rude. Once you drop your cloths over there and step off their steps you are on their mercy. I haven't seen any place that can not accommodate a change for even a few days even if you call them almost a month ahead of your pick up time. Once you agreed on date even though they had your cloths for 2 months you can not ask for any change. They fix things on day you are picking up. So it is not unusual for you to go there and wait while they are fixing your cloths. If you are willing to deal with horrible customer service go there. I think she is surviving because she doesn't have good competition in area on altering Indian cloths. I don't understand why any one will take non Indian outfit to her for altering. I took all of my wedding outfits here (along with my sisters, parents outfits) for major alterations and she was able to tailor them into something I loved for a reasonable price and in a timely manner. They do fantastic work, really care about the stitching, and how each individual piece of clothing fits. Even though they are extremely busy, everybody is so helpful and attentive. I ordered a beautiful summer maxi dress from Nordstrom to wear to the racetrack to watch the Kentucky derby, last year. With my luck, my dress arrived at my door step a few hours before I was supposed to be at the racetrack. I tried it on and it was extremely long! Even my tallest pair of heels couldn't fix this. My fiancé called Bharti's and asked them if I can stop by and they can fix the problem. I went over there, she took a few measurements and she told me to give her and hour and a half. I was so happy she would put my dress as one of her first priorities. The women understood that I had somewhere to be that day. She called me back 40 minutes later to tell me it was finished! I was so happy to hear that I didn't need to wait and I can get to my plans sooner than expected! When I arrived back, my dress looked as if there was nothing wrong to begin with! These people do such a great job, that I've brought a few other things there as well. Including a very strappy swimsuit, and another dress! Both looked amazing and were ready for my vacation in time. I found this place a few weeks ago and have to say I absolutly loved the way they fixed my suit. I needed to have my suit brought in as I had lost some weight and it was too big. I gave my wedding Sari(outfit Indian brides wear at their wedding) for pressing at this tailors. When I dropped off the Sari to Bharti I had made sure she knew that I would be late picking it up since I don't get off work until 5pm and live in Skokie an hour away. When I called to see if it was ready for me to pick up, the husband answered and was horribly rude to me. My Fiance and I were on the way and we told him that, yet he started getting very rude and told us that he will not stay open even a minute more than 7pm and told us not to come. I told him my wedding was in a day and really needed it and will be there before 7pm yet he kept insisting that he will not be open. I had to have my aunt who just came out of surgery to go pick up my Sari, since she lives in Streamwood and that was the only way I can have my Sari for my wedding day. I asked if I could pay with my credit card over the phone and again this man yelled at me and said no. These people are extremely rude!! I will never use this cleaner again..they SUCK!!! read more
