Easily one of the best yoga experiences I've had in DC - I came here using a class pass, and now compare other yoga classes I take to the one I took here! The instructor was amazing, I felt like she was clearly extremely experienced, doing the practice along with us so we could watch her, and she narrated every single thing she did which was incredibly helpful. I honestly felt like my yoga practice improved after this one class due to how she explained things, including how to breathe during yoga. ^And, she did this all while sounding calm and cool and yoga-esque. The vibe of the studio itself is also wonderful, I love all of the natural light. I would love to return and I'll probably try out their sound bath class too! read more

I really like Bhakti Yoga! First, sometimes it's hard to find a yoga studio that isn't "hot." I like that this studio doesn't heat their classes. Next, they have a lot of different class offerings! There is something for everyone and every mood. I've enjoyed both the more active classes and the more relaxing ones. Also, I love the room! I love when yoga studios have windows. The natural light is really nice, especially since there are a lot of classes around the time the sun is setting or a little before. I also never feel like the room is too crowded, and that makes it easier to relax. Finally, I think the teachers are good! I've liked every class I've been to. My only thing I would change is the price! I wish it was cheaper, but I also have no comparison points in DC. But they have a good beginner package! read more

Great studio in Mount Vernon Triangle. I signed up for their 10 class package, easy to use and was always able to get into classes, even busy times like Saturday mornings and 6:30 pm weekdays. I am not a beginner so it did take some time to figure out each of the teachers styles, as some classes were a little slow for me. Love how they use the accordion to open up class. Highly suggest taking a class with the owner Gopi or Lawrence if you are experienced! I'm hoping to go back for one of their workshops. read more

I moved nearby and really wanted this to be my regular yoga studio, but after about 15 visits, I compiled this list of why I won't be returning. 1- the smell. Not sure if it's the type of incense they burn or what, but it is super strong and really bugged me every time I went. 2- the class times are not ideal for a regular work schedule. In 2019, they pushed the start time for most morning classes back to 7AM (instead of the still-kind-of-late start of 630AM), which for a standard 9AM start day did not give me time to go home and shower after class and still walk to work (and I live less than 5 mins from the studio). The evening classes are also super early/ odd times. I love yoga and would go every day if the class times made sense. 3- the instructors are not hyper-friendly. This doesn't mean they're not hyper-competent which I believe most of them are. But often times I'd be front row for a class and couldn't even hear the instructor 3 ft away from me because they just kind of murmur and assume you can follow along. If I were new to yoga, I would find this extremely off-putting, but as a semi-seasoned yogi, I still was frustrated that I couldn't understand why I was going through a slow twist sequence or methodical warrior pose because my instructor didn't take the time or energy to project and explain thoroughly and loudly to the room. Even all-levels classes made me feel like I wasn't good enough because I couldn't just instinctively follow along with my too-cool instructor. 4- they sold my water bottle. This is probably the kicker that turned me off of them for good, but I left my water bottle one day accidentally (my fault, I know). I called and left a message that I'd swing by to pick it up later in the week since I had to head to a wedding that day. When I came by 5 days later, I couldn't find my water bottle but there was a sign under lost and found that said "Water Bottles, pay what you think is fair." I got really upset that my pretty new Yeti had been sold and when I asked the guy at the front desk he kind of sheepishly said "oh I guess it was sold, sorry." I've kind of reasoned that this was all my fault for leaving it, but in telling my story to others, they were appalled that in less than a week it had been moved from lost and found to "pay what you think is fair." After talking to a few other people with the same off-putting experiences, I thought I'd write this review. It's a very popular space and I was rarely in an even semi-empty class, but part of me thinks that its location is what draws people in (like me) and they overlook these negative parts. read more

Take the staircase up of this townhome into this small intimate yoga studio with two rooms. The front desk was warm and friendly and I was pleasantly surprised there was herbal tea in the carafe with reusable teacups provided. I really enjoyed my class with Jen Y. She offered good cues and used great instrumental music. Her classes are also more spiritual which I really appreciated. I also really appreciated that she did not use the fans, and kept the room nice and warm which really loosened up my muscles. Also perfect room to retreat to on a cold winter day. The cleansing sprays smelled really good, not sure what essential oil went into it but it was lovely and not overpowered with vinegar like most mat sprays I've used. The studio is clean and has a really tranquil yellow wall paint. Bathrooms are located inside the yoga room, so you can hear the hand dryer, but that's ok because it is so convenient. They also seem to offer many specialized workshops not available at other studios in DC like cacao ceremony. I also was pleased to hear they engage in service projects to help and engage with the community. Seems like a great way to get involved. Overall, really appreciated this studio and a great place to raise your spiritual and physical wellbeing. read more

I've been taking outdoor classes with this studio since the pandemic began, and have had a great experience. The teachers are warm and provide a lot of individualized attention (from a distance of course). I can't wait to check out the studio itself once it's safe to be indoors again. read more

Very nice space, friendly hosts and very challenging but different class experience. I disagree with other postings about negatives if the space. I found it warm, inviting and very clean. I was just visiting g DC for an event and found it close to my hotel. Large and diverse class, everyone felt like they knew each other. Excellent instructor with good coaching, pointing and correction skills. I don't personally care for the ohm before and after or song singing, but once we got moving I enjoyed the class. read more

I'm surprised this place doesn't have more reviews, but I recognize this is establishment is new (started in 2016). Everything about this place screams community, and it's a bummer that I live on the other side of the country. I visited this studio after a day of lobbying on Capitol Hill, and it was a great way to center myself. I had Cynthia as an instructor and it happened to be a small class. She made a pot of warm rose tea before class, which was a great surprise to walk into on a rainy DC day. Due to the nature of the small class, we had a lot of focus on posture and alignment and she helped ensure we were doing poses correctly in a way that would not hurt us. The focus on the breath, the mind body connection, and safe spaces make this place something I wish i had closer to me. Of note, there is a shower here if you have things to go to directly after class, but bring your own towel. read more

This place has very much of a Zen-like feel to it! The staff is very welcoming and accommodating! Love Ryan Smith's class on Sunday mornings. He is like a professor of yoga and one obtains a great education in holding the precise positions and angles! After having experienced lots of sports injuries in my youth, I greatly appreciate being taught in a way to alleviate pain and improve my body alignment and posture. Bhakti Yoga is a total hidden gem! Just blocks away from the Chinatown Metro, this yoga studio is low-key, down-to-earth and everything that I could ask for out of a yoga studio. The facilities are simple and clean, the staff members are patient and kind and the quality of the classes are excellent. As a newer yogi I was a little nervous to attend a class at this studio because I thought it might be too "hard core." I've had some pretty intimidating (and scaring) yoga class experiences where I've been forced to do handstands against the wall, try a headstand on my mat, etc... umm not for me. What I like about this studio is that they offer a variety of classes (level 1, mixed level, mixed intermediate) so you can choose the class that's right for you. In addition, they offer various types of classes like lunch vinyasa, restorative yoga, slow flow, etc. which keeps things fun and interesting. They also have meditation classes which is dope too. The cherry on top of it all? Their prices are affordable. If you can commit to 12 months the membership is $72 a month, or if you're like me and want to test them out before making an investment you can do a 2 week unlimited pass for $20. Either way, I highly recommend this studio and will definitely consider joining or buying a class-pack! read more

Gopi is an incredible instructor. I've dabbled around the city with quite a few yoga places and I love this place. I definitely think she is one of the best instructors around. Her sequencing is incredible and she truly teaches in a way that allows you to go a lot deeper. I am an addict. read more

I tried out several yoga studios in the area before settling on Bhakti for their monthly membership plan (which is a great deal). I've only seen 2 teachers, but this is the best yoga I've ever taken. The teachers are warm, expert, and attentive. The class (I usually go to the lunch time class) has definitely helped me get stronger and improved my flexibility. The studio is beautiful, with lots of serene natural light. Lastly, and I'm not sure how to articulate this, but the unexpected gift of this class is the spirituality. My heart feels good after these classes: whatever I anxiety I brought with me into the studio seems to have alleviated. I've been going to yoga for the last 18 years, and I've never experienced this. Highly, highly recommend this studio. read more
