My…read morefriend is vegan and I am always excited to try vegan restaurants, plus she had this cafe bookmarked for a while. The layout of the cafe is very cozy and dimly lit, a perfect place for vegans to socialize over lattes and food. We decided on their brunch platter and croissant sandwich, so we could share everything. I got a matcha latte and she got a regular one. The cashier was very kind, and she gave us her recommendations on what to try. She even spoke to me in English (although she didn't have to!). I also decided on trying out a pain au chocolat. Wow, just simply wow. Their pastries are still buttery and fluffy while remaining amazingly vegan, and their ingredients are high quality. The "cheeses" did not taste like plastic, no, but tasted similar to authentic cheese. The croissant sandwich was full of flavors and everything on the brunch platter was delicious. I especially loved how they decorated and seasoned the avocado (and it was ripe!) The matcha latte was a lovely wake up, especially after I had a horrible matcha latte the day prior. After about an hour or so, we were both eyeing their options of "cheesecakes" and decided on sharing a slice of their pecan option. After we took our first bite, my friend and I just looked at each other. The pecans and sauce complimented each other so well, and the vegan consistency wasn't too mushy! The breading was not too crumbly and each bite was Heaven. All in all, I am SO EXCITED to come back to this delicious cafe, as it was my favorite restaurant we tried during our stay in Copenhagen.

So fantastic!! See previous review for nearby Cafe Bla…read more My meager avocado served with my toast in that cafe quickly caused me to be hungry again. Thankfully, Kaf is in the same neighborhood. It is a vegan bakery! There are a few gluten-free pastries, namely the cakes. The place was small inside and it was packed. Dog friendly . . . Five stars for that! There is an outside seating area as well. We ordered some items and all were so amazing! On their Instagram page they are always posting about their vegan fastelvnsbolle and so we got some. It is basically a cream puff the size of a child's fist. Oh my, one of my faves from Denmark. The vanilla whipped cream inside was so light and not to sweet. The dough did not get soggy. On the contrary, the bottom of the pastry was crunchy and sweet. Almost like the bottom of an almond croissant. I also recommend their vegan, raw cakes. Deep rich chocolate is involved, yay!

I never thought I would be saying this about porridge of all things. But, Grød truly opened my eyes…read morein terms of how I could prepare my daily oatmeal. We tried Grød at two locations: the Torvehallerne market and at 7Eleven. The market, I ordered the Oat Porridge which came with apples, roasted almonds and caramel sauce, my mom had the All In! and my dad had the oat waffle. All of us (mostly) left satisfied. My picky father loved his waffle. And I really enjoyed the porridge I had. The oats perfectly cooked, the apples and almonds gave it a nice textural contrast. Plus the caramel, which was more like a dulce de leche added the perfect amount of sweetness without being too sweet. My mom was a bit ambivalent because the All In was too sweet. But to be fair, All In includes all of their toppings. Including chocolate and caramel so her assessment was fair! The Grød at 7Eleven had this wonderful chia pudding, layered with yogurt, natural peanut butter, a berry compote and nuts and I was obsessed. So simple, yet so wholesome. I found a cup at the airport and proceeded to import it back to the States. Overall, it was definitely worth a visit (or 2) to have my mind blown. Grød may not have intended it but this lil Westerner is now leveling up her oats game thanks to their menu!

So now I am happy to say I found my Ethiopian restaurant in Copenhagen. The variation that comes with the southern African sadza and the Ethiopian injera bread is what attracts me I think. Being a vegetarian I can freely choose what to eat and what not to. The same reason I'm also drawn to mezes and tapas. The restaurant in itself is quite anonymously located on Griffenfeldsgade and entering the restaurant will most likely leave you unimpressed. The lighting and interior is not that cozy. In all honesty though this according to me is genuine, many african restaurants have quite a sparse interior, I guess the food is the focus which I am all for and it won't affect my review. We ordered the vegetarian and fish dishes from the menu after consulting the friendly waitress. She then asked us if we wanted to share a plate since the plates are quite big, so we decided to do that. The beverage selection is quite limited, well, very limited to be honest, canned Tuborg is the only choice if beer is your thing. I would love to see some local Ethiopian beers or lacking that perhaps some beer that is commonplace in Africa like Lion and Castle, just to get the complete experience. Hopefully the will add this further on, but right now it brings my review down a notch. There are a lot of different flavours and eating it with your hands only adds to the experience. Prepare to get messy though. The different dishes are put on top of injera bread on a large plate, you eat by breaking of some of the pancake-similar bread and grabbing some veggies or sauces with it. Not only does it taste good, the food is plenty, you won't leave here hungry. Service was friendly and smiling. Upon leaving I told them everything was delicious and you could see the gratitude in the eyes of who I think is the owner. So we had a short conversation and he handed me a stamp card (10 dishes get one for free thing) welcoming us back. I WILL BE BACK! :)

We stumbled past the storefront while walking on a food tour or Reykjavik (something you MUST try), and the exterior was so inviting that we made a note that we needed to return. The inside is fun and vibrant. The ROYGBIV bookshelf bar counter is pleasing to the eyes, and the jet red chairs and chairs and lamp shades give a vibe of a cozy yet trendy coffee shop. The food was incredible and was affordable. You should definitely try one of the local beers. I'm not lying when I say, Iceland Beer is some of the best beer I have ever had, and I'm bummed you can't find it in the states. Viking beer was my absolute favorite. I get extremely paranoid when traveling about running out of clean clothes. So a few days into our stay in Scandinavia, I was already looking to clean some clothes. After some research on "montvask " places in Copenhagen, I found the Laundromat cafe. The guy was nice to instruct on the use of the machine. It only takes 10 DKK coins and the soap comes out of the machine so I was relieved because I did not bring any detergent. The cashier was nice to give me change. The wash is 50 DKK and the dry cycle was 10 DKK for 7 minutes. I had a small load and it is a huge dryer so it took my clothes only 7 minutes to dry anyways. While waiting for the laundry to finish, you can sit inside and enjoy the free internet. Or you can eat in the cafe. We did not try the food as I wanted to try next door's food which I bookmarked via Yelp. There are also boutique shops to peruse while waiting for your laundry.
