My rating is for the combined experience- Beyond Van Gogh/ Beyond Monet at the TD Convention Center in Greenville SC. As an artist, I was on the fence about these experiences. I was concerned about the hype and commercialism. Turns out that my concerns were valid. My advice...read the reviews before you go. My husband was interested so we bought the combined experience. The ticket price is ridiculous for essentially a one hour light show. The staff is friendly and provide instructions upon arrival. We arrived early and used the time to visit the gift shop. There were some good items, but they were mostly focused on Van Gogh. I was disappointed there was not more Monet merchandise. There is an "education area" before you go into the experience. Aside from reading the walls, there isn't much in the way of education. I thought the display was creative with the use of color and light and large sheer banners hanging from the ceiling. A few minutes before the show starts, you line up with a lot of other people. They tell you to walk around for the best experience. Unfortunately, the space is too small with people packed in so there is no way to walk around. Basically you are stuck in one place the entire time unless you want to push your way to a different spot. Floors are concrete, so standing for a while is uncomfortable. There were no seats other than a few benches scattered around. They should have been reserved as handicap. The Van Gogh experience is first and very slow to get started. There is no narration. Occasionally quotes appear in both French and English. Depending on the way you are facing, you may not see one or the other. There were some parts I really enjoyed, the flowers and starry night parts in particular. The Van Gogh part is about 30 minutes. We bought the combined tickets so we thought the Monet part would start immediately after. We were wrong! They replay the Van Gogh part and start Monet about 15 minutes in. I was extremely disappointed in the Monet experience and could have been so much better. We actually left after 10 minutes. There are so many missed opportunities for this experience. My recommendation would be to increase the size significantly so that people can walk as the show progresses. Being confined to a small space with a bunch of strangers is not fun. I think this experience would be okay for younger people or others who are not art enthusiasts. If you are really curious, go see the Van Gogh part. That's more than enough. read more

Beyond Van Gogh at the Del Mar Fairgrounds has been wowing audiences around the world. For those who watched Emily in Paris' first season (As Lily Collins says.. https://youtu.be/mbfljdn8Ln4) you got a little glimpse of the immersion and surround experience. Due to COVID and audience considerations, they limit the numbers guests who can go in each time to only eight or so. This way you can linger at each visual frame and take the time to learn Vincent Van Gogh's life story. Leading from his early days with his brother Theo as art dealers, to that fateful event with fellow artist Paul Gauguin on December 23rd, 1888. In anger with Gauguin (or just plain craziness), regarding the seriousness of art... "things escalated and culminated in Van Gogh notoriously cutting off his own ear." Sadly, Van Gogh took his own life less than two years later. The immersion, includes a rotation of paintings visually projected onto the walls and floor. It's a wonderful and hypnotic, that creates an spiritual calm which is incredible (see video). So much beauty, from one man's pain and anguish. Updated mask policy: masks are completely optional and many were unmasked inside. At the time I purchased the tickets, the website advertised mandatory masking, and fellow Yelpers commented that masking was enforced. Since the California indoor mask mandate was lifted, they have relaxed the masking policy. Timed entry tickets must be purchased in advance on the website. Each ticket requires a name to be assigned as they may check ID. They do advise that you print a paper ticket if your name is not the one on the ticket, but they're not strict with that. Parking is $10 per car, credit card only. The lot had plenty of open spaces that was a close walk to the entrance. They have a concessions stand with some coffee, bagels, cookies, muffins, etc. Iced coffee was $5 for 16 oz and was as expected (not very good). Once you go inside, it's a one-way route. The restrooms are at the beginning and end only. We spent ~1 hour total inside. The first 15 minutes was reading fluffy Wikipedia info about the life and death of Van Gogh, against very pretty backgrounds of his work. There were also a few photo ops built in. The rest of the 45 minutes (that's how long the projection loop is) was the immersive experience in the big room with all-over projection of Van Gogh's work. A few benches were available, and some sat on the ground, but most people stood and walked around. Next, you walk through the gift shop before the exit, which took us about 30 seconds because none of us were interested in items like an $80 hoodie. Overall, it was a cool and unique experience, but limited for the price tag. If you love Van Gogh, then it's definitely worth it. Otherwise, I wouldn't go out of my way for this. read more

My wife and I have seen the Van Gogh Immersive experience in Miami and in Tampa both were excellent. Featuring many works of art and several visuals. We experience the Dahli immersive in St. Pete Fl another excellent venue. So, I review with MUCH experience. Beyond Van Gogh AND Monet at the STRAZ in Tampa features very little individual art of both artists. As you walked along the corridor you see much information on the artists life, motivation and history etc. Very little to just a few pieces of individual art. Not until you reached the Immersive section did you experience their individual artistic talents and contributions-there was very little seating, much in the middle of a room with 360 wall panels of motion artwork. In the former mentioned Immersive experiences seating was along the outer edges allowing the viewer to have a much broader and comprehensive viewing experience. Very disappointed in the STRAZ THEATER venue. Please save your Monet :) read more

This was pretty cool! I'm so glad San Diego finally has digital art museums (even if it is just a popup)- been a long time coming. It was better than I expected in some ways: - the art itself animated kinda like harry potter - the music was good - the informative history of van gogh was interesting But there was also room for improvement, when thinking about all of the other digital art museums I've been to in tokyo, DC etc - it's kinda pricey, I don't think I can justify the weekend price because now you're looking at a $60+ ticket/person. All of the other museums I've been to are a LOT bigger and cheaper. - they charge for parking; related to the previous comment, its already pricey so why charge for parking? There's plenty of parking spots - There were some benches for sitting but not enough, so a lot of people ended up sitting on floor which is not comfortable. I've seen other places offer seating pillows for the ground - It felt like too many people even though this was timed entry, felt like they squeezed too many people to truly enjoy the experience - The history signs before the big room, was not accessible. It's hard to read because its white text on top of really colorful patterns so the contrast was really low. I get what they were going for but not ideal Overall its a fun date night and if you're planning on getting high (which is easy to tell, some dude kept touching the walls lol); please don't make it obvious. 1) you will get kicked out and 2) it ruins the experience for other people. read more

A friend bought tickets for a week night visit to this experience. He's a huge art fan while me, not so much. But hey , he's buying tickets so why not try it out. We totally didn't realize that there's a flat parking fee to get into the racetracks. Parking was a bit full so we were worried the venue would be packed. Entry was easy and check in was fast. The first stage was reading quotes and such from/about Van Gogh . The set up was simple. The quotes were hung up on paintings so you go from one quote to the next. I took my time to read through all of them but can see why some just passed this by to go to the other 2-3 exhibit rooms. The main room was a collage and compilation of many VG paintings. It was paired with music and quotes. I'd say we spent a good 45 min in this room as we sat down to fully experience it all. All walls and even the floor had images and videos. It was a cool experience. I didn't expect it to be but you have to take the time and effort to experience the full effect. read more

While expensive, I thoroughly enjoyed this immersive exhibit (and I was treated by being the guest of my good friend). You can purchase a ticket online for a certain time to enter the exhibit. I'm not sure if you are able to buy tickets upon arrival at the venue, but I suspect you need to get them in advance). Parking was $10, payable by credit card only. Parking was close to the exhibit building. Tickets start at around $50. A bit higher for flexible entry and VIP, and a bit lower for children and students/seniors/military. We checked in and were permitted to enter a few minutes early. There are restrooms right next to the check-in desk. In the first room you walk through panels displaying information and quotes in English and Spanish. There's a lot to read, but it was interesting. In the main display area, the video is on a loop and runs for about 45 minutes with 300 paintings in about 10 displays. The paintings cover the tall walls and spill over onto the floor. Music accompanies the display. There are portraits, still lifes, flowers, scenery and, or course, Starry Night. Some parts of the painting are animated. Watch for the portraits that blink and smoke curling up from pipes. (I actually thought that animating artistic masterpieces like cartoons was a little cringey, but I guess they were trying to make it more entertaining.) We stayed to watch the show almost 3 times. You really find new details the longer you are there and depending on what part of the room you're in. I believe you can watch for as long as you like. Expect to stand the whole time, although there are a few small benches scattered about. People were also sitting on the floor. Everyone was masked, and it was not super crowded. You exit into the gift shop area. Some nice stuff, but pretty expensive. T-shirts started at $35. Ball caps were $20. Also sold prints and postcards, and even a little Van Gogh figurine with a removable ear. I had heard a lot about how awesome this exhibit was, and feel lucky my friend was kind enough to get me ticket and experience it with me. read more

This digital art show is amazing. Vincent Van Gogh lived a heartbreaking life yet his troubled mind was able to create some of the most beautiful art in the world. This showcase of his work was incredibly beautiful, moving, and magical. When purchasing tickets, I highly recommend choosing an entry time as early as possible. The exhibition starts at 9am. Accessibility: there are a few (at least 7) disabled parking spots across from the building entrance. The ground in the parking lot is made of some dirt, then turns into paved ground right outside the building entrance. The doors to enter are pull doors, and the Van Gogh Experience is all on the bottom floor, so completely wheelchair accessible. All of the spaces are wide enough for wheelchairs to fit. There is only one women's and one men's restroom inside the front doors (enter then turn left). Inside the restrooms they have multiple stalls and sinks, wheelchair accessible. There are workers throughout the experience standing or sitting near the walls, so if you need assistance, ask; they are very friendly. It is very dark throughout the entire experience so if you have difficulty seeing in low light, this may be a challenge event for you. Experience: well it is definitely a smaller experience than I thought it would be, but still cool. Very educational! They had tons of facts about Van Gogh's life displayed on screens in large print, as well as letters between him and his brother displayed in large print. Then you enter the experience where his art is moving on very tall walls and the floor underneath you! The images on the walls and floors cycle through his portraits, self portraits, flowers, Starry Night, and more, for about 40 minutes until the cycle starts over again. This is a cool place if you want to admire art and learn about Van Gogh's life, or if you're just interested in getting some cool Instagram pics. Masks/vaccines: masks and vaccines not required (5-7-2022). It was very crowded in here and most people were not wearing masks. Prices: expensive. One weekend ticket was 50 dollars, plus a processing fee of 10 dollars, then parking was 10 dollars per car. So for two people, I spent $120 to be here. For that price I wouldn't ever come see it again, but if they cut that price in half or 1/3 maybe I would. Food/drinks: there isn't much here so eat before or after! There was one food truck to the left of the entrance but I didn't go to see what they sold. read more

I came here a couple of days ago and I really enjoyed it more than I thought! I thought parking might be hard to find but it wasn't so bad where there were 3-4 empty spots. I was glad to wait in line since the line started to get long. I waited about 10-15 mins (waited at like 2 pm) but went in at 2:15 pm, which was the time of my event. The inside was pretty interesting and I was amazed how they used the projectors. The first half was knowing the history of Van Gogh (felt like walking into history). And then the second half was a big room where you get to see the art of Van Gogh everywhere (well like the walls and the ground). The background music was amazing too. It was great where you can sit or lay down or even walk around. It was pretty roomy inside and didn't feel crowded either. Some people wore mask and some people didn't. Mask isn't mandated anymore so wearing a mask is optional from what I saw. Afterwards, they have a gift shop where you can buy posters, t-shirts, etc. I overall enjoyed the experience where I was there for about one hour. The reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because of the customer service. I emailed to try changing the date but I couldn't hear back after 3-4 days, which was way too late. They didn't help through chat except to wait for the email reply. And I called them a few times and even left them a voicemail but they never called me back. If you try to change the date, do know that you have to buy new tickets and send them screenshots of both and they will give you a refund for the original (minus $6). read more

This concept of creating a multimedia experience with great artists is brilliant. Do not hesitate to attend one of these shows. I was a bit uneasy about the ticket price vs time but I was wrong. Tips: Take your time. Pause and spend a good amount of time reading the bio information as you walk to the main exhibit. Once you enter the exhibit walk around and get a feel for the speed of the display. Find a seat and watch the display again! Save your pictures and videos for the end to really immerse yourself in the art. Cons: Not enough seating. Where something suitable to sit on the floor. You Won't be disappointed. read more

Please do not purchase tickets if you are a senior, have a disability, mobility issues, or a medical condition that prevents you from being able to stand for a long time. There are no benches to sit on in the first exhibit room and only a handful in the second room where a long video is shown to a large group of people--many of whom ended up needing to sit on the floor because the benches were occupied. Although there was ample space for sitting on the floor this is not possible for those who are physically unable to do so. I wrote to customer service and they claim to have accessible seating in the exhibit but they do not. Like I mentioned, there are only a handful of benches and none have a priority seating sign for those with a disability. They only encourage guests to leave the benches available for those with mobility issues on their FAQ page. Looking around the room, the people sitting on benches did not seem to have mobility or health issues that prevent them from standing and the staff did not encourage anyone to leave a seat open for my mother or others who may have needed to sit down. I am sharing this because I do not want anyone else to experience what my mother, who is a senior with health and mobility issues, experienced at this exhibit on her birthday. She was not able to enjoy the exhibit because we were forced to leave early since she is unable to stand for a long time. The tickets are quite expensive so I reached out to customer service and they refused to refund our tickets. This exhibit is not worth the disappointment and frustration. There are better ways to spend your time and money. I hope this review helps others avoid this experience--especially those who are unable to stand for long periods of time. read more

This show was a total RIP OFF! How dare you even try to present such shit after we HAD the an Gough show last year IN RHE SAME ROOM! The colors were VIBRANT and this show was water down pastels!!! I was bored shitless. You must have counted on no repeat customers from the show last year because it was impossible to watch both shows and not think that was not TERRIBLE in comparison. There is so much to love and celebrate about the works of Van Gogh, and I came to this event with my sister to go through this celebration of the works of her favorite artist. And while she and other members of our group thoroughly enjoyed the experience, I must confess myself as being rather underwhelmed. It is hosted at the Convention Center, with plenty of parking and easy access. The experience itself is broken roughly into two parts. The first section is a set of wall murals with facts about his life and quotations from the correspondences written during Van Gogh's lifetime. I found it quite interesting to read these snippets, hoping for it to be a primer for what would come next. The main room has walls, floor, and two large pillars where images of his paintings are projected onto in a way where viewers barely cast shadows, so you can get up close and scrutinize these larger-than-life renditions. The entire show goes in a constant loop, set to nice atmospheric music, and roughly corresponds to periods in his life and certain aspects of his work. I think the show itself is delightful and curated nicely. Of particular note; pairing the sequence of the sunflowers with an instrumental version of 'Here Comes the Sun' was an especially nice touch. And I will admit the music and themes hit me in the 'feels' a bit towards the end. Plus, it is high accessible, as people of all ages are welcome, there is ample space for mobility-limited people to get around, and the audience is encouraged to sit on the floor or the benches provided and just soak in the ambiance. So overall, the show itself is very nice and pleasant, but I felt the whole was rather lacking. The entire loop of the show is 37 minutes, and so with time added in to read through the gallery of quotes at the start, and lingering in the gift shop at the end, I finished the entire thing in about an hour. If there were more to this experience, I feel it would feel like a more memorable event. Like, maybe some more exhibits about his life and the world he lived in, or some other video area talking about his works and their influences. As it is, this is a wonderful little show, but feels like something you'd enjoy more if it were attached to like a museum or gallery where there is more to see. This sentiment is added to by the price of the tickets. About $45 for standard admission, and my sister going for VIP, which was basically $100. Though to its credit, the VIP ticket did come with a nice bag of merch from the gift shop. But all told, I feel the price is rather high for such a short experience, as interesting as it may be. All in all, I do enjoy these sorts of things, and am glad there is an audience here in Reno who are interested enough to make them possible. I just hope similar events could give us a bit more than just something pretty to look at, but something educational and impactful we can take away with us. read more

Disappointing - we had previously seen this event Fri. Sep 30, 2022 at 5:00pm in the Forum Tent at Empire Polo Club, Indio, CA. The Indio event was life-changing emotional and moving. When the opportunity came to see it again in San Diego, we jumped at it. The San Diego event had been reduced to 34 minutes, the music was horribly loud and resembled "Muzak" "elevator music, not the choreographed original soundtracks we previously enjoyed in Indio. The paintings had been changed to less popular paintings and were presented slower and more arduous. There was an entire section of portraits that had previously accompanied letters and personal notes from Van Gough, which were removed and then added on as a view for a "fee" virtual experience as you exited the event room. Apparently, our VIP tickets were not enough. Overall the whole experience reeked of money grabbing, not artistry. We honestly were planning to see Monet. LOL, not now. Had we seen this version first we would never have wanted to see it a second time. read more

I love how the art was presented and how so many pieces were showcased. This is a walk through exhibit with a very unique display. Colors, sounds, paintings walking along with you. I went to this exhibit last week and I have so many thoughts. I read reviews from other cities that complained it was basically just a giant screensaver, so I knew what I was getting into. I was sceptical, but I'm not traveling around to cool museums these days, so it seemed worth a visit. When I stepped inside, my initial impressions were pretty poor. A cheap looking blown up print of a Van Gogh self portrait and an advertisement for Keurig? Bleh. The exhibit starts with a series of educational panels about Van Gogh's life and work, each ending with a grand pronouncement that to experience Van Gogh's with is to (fill in the blank). Interspersed with more reminders to enter for your chance to win a Keurig machine. Double bleh. Next there's a small antechamber with little snippets of Van Gogh paintings done in light falling down the walls to the floor. Nobody else lingered here, but I thought it was quite cool. And then finally the main exhibit. It's just one large room with two prismatic pillars in the middle to break up the space. The light show is projected on the four walls, the pillars, and the floor. It's very high quality projection, much better than everything that came before would lead you to expect. They must have multiple light sources projecting on each surface, because people's shadows are very minimal. There are some benches placed throughout the room, but for the most part you just stand and walk around. The show is based on Van Gogh's paintings, with atmospheric music and occasional quotes thrown in for good measure. Some of the work is projected in picture frames, but most of it fills the whole walls and floor, so it's like you're inside the work. It's animated as well, to varying degrees of effectiveness. The whole thing is about 45 minutes, and I stayed for two cycles: once just to enjoy, and once to take pictures. You can stay as long as you like, and when you're ready to leave you walk out through the gift shop, where you can buy overpriced souvenirs with "Beyond Van Gogh" branding, or a stuffed Van Gogh doll with only one ear. Or a Keurig. And don't forget to enter for your chance to win! Can't let you forget about that. Overall, it's a fun experience. But with fees and parking, it's over $50 for a weekday, and over $60 on a weekend. And I just don't think it's worth that much. read more

I had been waiting to check this out since Season 1 of Emily in Paris! We arrived early for our 7:30 reservations on a Sunday evening. Parking is $10 (credit card only) which was a bit ridiculous considering there is plenty of parking. The website talked about entry times being strictly enforced, but we were let in a half hour early, which I appreciated. Maybe they were strictly enforced due to previous COVID precautions. Also, masks are totally optional at this time. At the beginning of the exhibit, you wait a bit so that they can space people out as they enter the hallway. The waiting room has a portrait of Van Gogh and a couple fun photo ops. The first part of the exhibit has you walk through podiums with letters that Van Gogh wrote, primarily to his brother. I thought it was interesting and I really appreciated some of the quotes. I do feel that it was just a lot of reading and maybe could have been done in a more creative way. When we arrived in the main exhibition room, which was really the only room, I had thought it was one of many. I was disappointed when I found out that it was the only immersive room. Despite the disappointment, I enjoyed it. I loved the videos and how the projected art work covered the floor and the ceilings. This provided for some beautiful scenes and lots of photo ops. There are a few benches to sit on, but most of the patrons were standing, with a few people choosing to sit on the floor. The film loop lasted around 45 minutes and we stayed for a bit of the second loop to be able to have a second look at a few paintings. After the exhibit, there is a small gift shop. I bought a few postcards (I love postcards) and my hubby bought a T-shirt. Other cities have bars inside the exhibit as you walk through, but this did not. All in all, I really enjoyed the exhibit. I was a bit disappointed that there weren't additional rooms and more immersive activities. I also thought it was a bit pricey for the short amount of time it takes. Ugh. This is an "Exit Through the Gift Shop" experience if there ever was one. It's also an Instagram experience if there ever was one. Let's just say that I'm glad I didn't pay for the tickets. So let's start with the good: the main room of the "Experience" is admittedly pretty cool. You are surrounded by changing/moving images of or inspired by Van Gogh's art on the walls, floor, and pillars of a giant room. It's on about a 40-45 minute loop, and is the only thing that attempts to make the price of admission worthwhile. The rest of this "attraction" consists of the lead of to this final (and really only) room, in which you zigzag though a bunch of paragraphs on Van Gogh that were either written by the douchiest art history graduate ever, or a drunken writer parodying the douchiest art history graduate ever. My favorite line: "To experience his work is to gaze into humanity itself." Um... OK. Of course, they also tell us that "[t]o experience his work is to give in to turbulence," so now I'd be confused if I wasn't laughing. Of course, all of this intellectual masterbation is really just a clumsy attempt at convincing us that this "experience" is something more than a mere commercial enterprise, a farce that is certainly disproved when you (you guessed it) exit through an overpriced gift shop. read more

I'm not much of an art person- but I heard great things about this exhibit and decided to go with a friend. I would highly recommend this exhibit. You go in and read a bit about the letters he sends to his brother. Then you go into this tunnel that leads to the entrance of the exhibit itself. There's an awesome projector casting down from the wall to the floor. I would recommend waiting a bit before fully entering to see how it transforms into a painting of his face. Once you go into the exhibit itself, you're most likely getting there at the middle of the part, so I would find a place to sit and just observe a section as it runs through its scheduled experience. It'll restart after about 25-30 minutes and you can re-watch again. I saw everything twice from 2 different perspectives in the room. It was really cool to see. Lastly, the soundtrack was super calming and peaceful. It really pulled together the whole show. Afterwards, there was a gift shop to buy some cute Van Gogh things. Be on the look out for a QR code to get the soundtrack on spotify!! Some things to note before going: 1. Be aware that you do have to pay for parking upon entering the fairgrounds. 2. I would look up the history or background of Van Gogh before going into the exhibit. I think it gives his art a different perspective and gives you more understanding before entering. 3. I would recommend staying for minimum 2 rounds of the show, so be prepared to shell out around 2-3 hours for this exhibit to really get your full money's worth. read more

This immersive experience was so much more than I had ever imagined. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS!!!! This was so thought out everything from the timeline of Van Gogh's life to the art behind each section explaining each era in his life and the masterpieces that were created. Besides reading his life you can see the detail and color differences in each image as well as the distinct strokes which made his art so unique. It is extremely sad that mental illness and suicide is always swept under the rug and he was so brilliant beyond his time. He never got to see his work through the eyes of all his fans. His art is truly remarkable. I wish the immersion videos I took would have uploaded but, sadly they will not. All I can say if you get a chance go early and experience his art. The video at the end is over 30 min and ends with the starry night. So make sure you go through the entire video. The only thing I would suggest is that they add information about mental illnesses and suicide to really support what he went through and hopefully help others in the future so they are around to enjoy the glory in which they have created. The next Van Gogh maybe the person next to you so be kind we never know what shoes the any other person is experiencing on a day to day basis. read more

A single painting speaks a million words through the art of Van Gogh. I began by learning about the trials and tribulations the artist had suffered throughout his entire life. At first, I was heartbroken, Van Gogh had been through so many hardships. But it was the inspiration for his beautiful works. When I walked into the room the exhibition was held in, I froze in my spot. All around the room was a splash of colors, works of art, and people who were just as memorized as me. I saw an old couple sitting on a bench transform into part of The Starry Night. If you are planning to attend this exhibit, be prepared. Book your tickets early, bring something comfortable to sit on, and come with an open mind. You will be blown away by Van Gogh's art in this experience. read more

This was such a fun experience! I have admired Van Gogh's work for years, so to have the opportunity to see it in such a unique way was so special to me. This was the perfect Valentine's Day date, and it makes me want to visit the fairgrounds for other events in the future! The staff were so friendly and I really appreciate their effort to keep everyone safe, seeing as this was an indoor event. I witnessed them correct people in wearing their mask multiple times, which was awesome as many places do not enforce mask safety anymore. read more

What a beautiful experience. Van Gogh's works come alive before your very eyes and you're immersed in the living scenery yourself. You first go through an area with large narrative panels (in English and Spanish) detailing the history and inspirations of Van Gogh. It definitely sets the tone for the main part of the experience. I would have loved even more background on some of the specific paintings featured later though. After the intro, you enter a large ballroom with the walls and floors covered in his works - animated a little or a lot - hundreds of petals falling from the trees to painted eyes blinking. There are a few benches to sit on but most people are standing or sitting at the edge of the wall, which we did for the later half of our time there. Most people are very respectful and allow everyone to enjoy that experience. There was, however, a group of ladies that were obnoxiously loud and literally physically rolling around on the floor when the room got darker. You are a bit at the mercy of the people who reserved the same time slot as you but most were there to enjoy the experience same as us. The area is also large enough where you can move to another part of the room and have an equally interesting view. We stayed long enough for the animation to loop and after that you leave through the gift shop. read more

Turns out there are numerous 'experiencial' Van Gogh exhibits. We thoroughly enjoyed this one. I may go see one in LA for comparison. We went on a Tuesday morning and it was perfect. Not too many people. When we got out the line to go in was quite long. I already knew of Van Gogh's troubled life so bio parts weren't that informative. Great show and recommend it for all ages. *All transactions are cashless including parking. read more

Having viewed original Van Gogh works at Musée d'Orsay in Paris and Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, we were skeptical about this exhibition.  Wow ... what a surprise!  This is not an exhibit of digital versions of Van Gogh's major works.  Rather, it's an immersive digital and audio experience that interprets his art and sets them in the context of his life.  The digital projections envelop you.  I'm glad we came. One negative is the exhibition's location in the Del Mar Fairgrounds. read more

The Van Gogh experience was fantastic. Located at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, this incredible experience is in town until May 8th. It is informative and educational as you learn about Vincent Van Gogh's life and how he became an artist. In the main exhibition area, you can immerse yourself in over 300 pieces of art! As someone mentioned. It is expensive for what you get. Parking $20 for about an hour. YIKES. Also I paid for two people as it was a birthday gift. To add insult About 50 middle school children came in who were not there for the experience but because it was a day out of school. They were talking, laughing and running around. None of the chaperones were controlling them. Monet is one of my very favorite artists , what a complete disappointment. read more

Update: Changed it to 1star because they know they're overcharging you. This exhibit is worth $30 per ticket MAX. Instead they charge as much as $76 for both exhibits and the lowest they charge is $43 for a weekday ticket to one show. I was lucky to have gotten a free ticket, but after finding out the actual price I'm shocked. This is extremely low-effort. Air circulation is bad. The projection was washed out at parts. When I went part of the projection even doubled up at certain parts of the walls. The intro when you walk in between Monet and Van Gogh is poorly done and confusing. Other than the projection there's nothing else there to see or interact with. Not enough seats. $20 per parking is nothing short of highway robbery. I hope they're reading my comment because this isn't too far off from the notorious Willy Wonka experience that went viral. Do better. read more

Saw the beautiful Van Gogh immersive last year, and had high hopes for the Monet, but this show was a miserable waste of time and money. The art was washed out, the music terrible, and there was no theme or thought put into the show. I bought four tickets to spend a few hours with friends--so spent over $120 plus parking--and we walked out after only fifteen boring minutes. The visuals moved quickly, made us nauseous and you could see the walls behind it because the quality of the projections was lacking. The projections were poorly done, poorly lit, and boring. We asked for a refund, and even called and emailed the company which put this on, and they said there were no refunds, no changes to tickets, and suggested I just write my bad review online instead of bothering them. So this is it. DON'T GO. It's HORRIBLE. Truly bad. read more

Many years ago we went to see the Blair Witch Project because of all the hype. It turned out to be one of the worst movies ever made. This was worse. Our friend gave us free tickets. She now owes me the $20 I spent on parking plus another $20 for emotional distress and boredom pay! read more

A very close friend purchased tickets to this and brought me we had budgeted 2 1/2 hours but were back in the car in our $20 paid parking space within 30 minutes severely disappointed. Not recommended. read more
