The first time I met with Darlene I had just driven over an hour and I was very excited about the appointment I had scheduled online only to arrive and find out I had made a mistake when booking and hadn't confirmed the appointment and she had no record of me coming so even though she had other clients she was helping, when she finished with them she let me come in and speak with her about what to expect and things to do to prepare for our first official appointment which we booked at that time I returned for my appointment and have nothing but wonderful remarks to say about the treatment and service I received. She was so thorough about explaining every step, kind with her instruction to teach steps everyone can do at home and overall a very loving person. I was happy enough with my microneedling results that I bought another package, even though she's not very close to home. She's definitely worth it! read more

This was my first time having an interactive facial. I thought I was going to get a regular facial- steam, mask, etc. This facial was beyond amazing. It was a learning, relaxing and spiritual experience. Darlene has amazing skills and is very knowledgeable. I had the Ultra Lift IPL and dermabrasion treatment. I saw immediately the difference in my skin when I left. I felt my skin being rejuvenated and glowing! She taught me about my skin - she is not there to sell products or services. I love how she respected my time which also showed me the value of hers. I am going to bring my mom to experience at his one of a kind facial. I recommend you do it too!! Book her now!!! read more

Darlene was very knowledgeable and explained the process in great detail which I appreciated. I got the 3:1 facial and I immediately saw results. Even my husband noticed and made a comment to me when I got home. I am very happy with the results and plan on coming back and getting a package. read more

Amazing experience for my first visit! Darlene was incredibly nice and deeply knowledgeable, taking the time to explain skincare basics and the importance of sunscreen. The treatment itself was super comfortable and thorough--starting with a deep cleanse and exfoliation, followed by a relaxing massage and lifting treatment, and finishing with IPL. She even gave extra attention to the breakouts on my forehead. I felt so pampered and will definitely be back. Highly recommend! read more

My first time was a major experience with Darlene. It was more that what I expected. I was greeted cheerfully, the place looks quaint and neat. The entire time I was in the treatment room I was educated about the things she was doing and why she's doing it. Very informative! Thank you Darlene! You really wow'ed me with your service!! Thank you for your reply Darlene. Your response is, once again, dishonest. You NEVER discussed the treatment depths, energy levels, and adjustments made based on each person's unique facial structure, or the use of macro-focused ultrasound and radiofrequency. You very clearly told me in text that you could not answer those questions and needed verification with your boss. You did however spend A LOT of time on explaining the use of a special massage technique that takes away the need for numbing and causes less pain - and upselling me to a bigger treatment plan which would require that I come in every week for 4-6 weeks which is consistent with other reviews on here. You've never seen my skin in person for an assessment - and somehow still pushed such a extensive treatment. That's why I asked those follow up questions in my text message to begin with. To confirm the things that were not addressed. This is in plain text for anyone that is interested to see. While I did expect a response, if I wasn't already concerned with your business ethics, I am now thoroughly concerned with the lack of accountability. read more

I had the most amazing experience with Darlene , This was my first facial and I was very nervous. She explained everything to me and also taught me so much about skin care and how to keep my skin looking young and fresh I was truly thankful. The difference in my skin and facial structure, and even my neck and chest was an immediate difference after my facial even in my spirit, I felt so uplifted and just very thankful for the experience. When I looked at myself in the mirror after my facial, I felt myself breathe again. I look so much younger. I'm only 33 but I felt like my skin looked like I was 20 again. From all the stress of everyday life, my face was starting to show how stressed I was now after seeing Darlene I feel beautiful again, confident, and excited to come back again. I went in using a Groupon that had been gifted to me, and it turned out to be such a memorable experience. From the second I stepped inside, the atmosphere felt peaceful and welcoming, soft lighting, calming music, and an overall vibe that helps you unwind right away. Darlene was fantastic. She was attentive, gentle, and kept me informed throughout the entire session, which I really appreciated since it was my first time trying microdermabrasion and IPF. I wasn't sure what to expect going in, but she explained everything clearly and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. What really stood out was how easy she was to talk to kind, personable, and genuinely invested in making the experience a good one. I walked out feeling refreshed, relaxed, and honestly impressed. I enjoyed it so much that I've already scheduled my next visit. Definitely a place I'd recommend checking out! read more

I had such a positive experience with Darlene at Beyond the Spa. I went in for an HIFU facial treatment, which included several days of care, starting with lymphatic drainage and massage to help prep the skin. I felt deeply relaxed and cared for throughout the process and I"m so happy with the results. Darlene is incredibly knowledgeable and attentive. She customizes the treatment based on what your skin needs. The process was not painful at all, and the level of care and detail she puts into her work is masterful. She also gives in depth instructions on how to continue skin care to maintain results. As a teacher, it was a splurge for me, but I'm so glad I did it. The experience was just as therapeutic as it was aesthetic. I'll be returning. read more

I never did facial before. Bought a Groupon credit. It was difficult to book an appointment online until I called and left a message with spa. Darlene responded later. I had a very pleasant and educational conversation with her. There was misunderstanding regarding the purchased credit and the treatment she offered over the phone. It got straightened out eventually. On the day of my appointment, Darlene is very personable and hospitable. We talked about one hour and another hour for treatment. Since this is the first time of my facial, from dermabrasion, RF, iPL and massage, I truly enjoyed the care that Darlene has provided. My wife has her appointment today! read more

I've been coming to Being Spa since my early 20's. I'm now in my late 50's. I was seeing the owner up until she retired and later brought in Darlene. Honestly, I can't tell the difference between the two anymore. Darlene's technique and skill set is identical. Darlene is such a delight, she's very thorough and articulate with the tools for the facial. This type of facial is a contour lift and requires methodical movements across the facial muscles. She never disappoints! Thank you Darlene! read more

I had a 75 minute ultra lift anti aging facial which was very different from other facials I've had in the past. I have done anti-aging facial with Darlene for the past year. She is truly amazing! While other facials I have been to only works on the surface skin of the face, Darlene has a very special technique which works on the deep muscle of the face, neck and even back. She uses a lot of different kinds of devices to generate fast vibration to exercise the facial muscle. Darlene also always try to spend more time with me to maximize the treatment if the schedule allows. It is such a unique experience and I highly recommend it. read more

Whatever Darlene is doing! It's working... so just come and try it. My third visit today. I felt so pampered and relaxed. Thanks, Dee!

I had an amazing experience at Beyond the Spa in San Jose! Darlene is a standout technician knowledgeable, professional, and incredibly friendly. On September 15, 2025, I went in for my first HIFU treatment. From my consultation, she had already taken the time to explain every service and why it matters, how their techniques are more advanced, and how they go deeper than surface-level facials. That clarity made me feel comfortable choosing HIFU. My first session was superb: she explained each step in detail, applied gentle yet targeted pressure in areas needing lift, and made me feel at ease throughout. Immediately afterward, my skin glowed, felt softer than ever, and I noticed a real tightening effect all from just one session! I also purchased their skincare regime, and I'm so thankful I did. The products are simple to apply, feel light, and when I use them at night, my skin looks fresh and radiant the next morning. I can't wait for my next treatment, and I'm grateful I found this wonderful place. I'm truly excited to see how much more my skin will improve with Darlene's techniques combined with their excellent products for at-home support. Like many other reviewers have said, Darlene doesn't just give treatments; she explains the science behind every step, goes beyond the surface, and delivers results that feel intentional and effective. She's built a reputation for professionalism, warmth, and expertise, and my experience has been exactly that. If you're looking for visible results, expert care, and someone you can trust with your skin, Darlene at Beyond the Spa is absolutely the one! read more

BOOK ASAP! I am a skin junkie and I don't think I have learned more in any appointment and walked away with better treatment! Darlene not only does amazing work, but she explains everything and helps you choose what is going to do the most for you without trying to convince you to spend on things that you don't need. I 1 million percent trust her suggestions and I will be going back because if I am going to spend money, I want to learn from the expert! Run, don't walk. After my first (Groupon) visit, I was told by the esthetician that if I left a positive, five-star review and if I then bought a six-facial package for $900 I could receive additional products and services, so I did. Dumb me. Four facials in and I now have two permanent scars on my face from the facial procedure. I'm sure others have had a positive experience, but mine was not. Be cautious! read more
