Besides being an expert on wine, Paul Anthony also told us a lot about San Diego history along the way. It's hard to imagine a more perfect host. The first stop was the Bernardo Winery, where we learned about its history while having a delicious flight of wines (there were six different flight options!) and enjoyed a tasty charcuterie platter. The next stop was the Cordiano Winery, which had amazing views. We had another tasty flight there along with a salad and a delicious pizza. (My wife has a gluten allergy, along with other food allergies, and they were able to accommodate them all at both wineries.) The tour took about 4 hours. This was definitely one of the most fun experiences we've had in a while.

One thing to note, he is very strict on timing, so if you think you've got an extra five minutes, you don't.. LOL Now onto the tour itself. I've done quite a few wine tours, and unfortunately this one was my least favorite. It was also the first wine tour I've done that only visited two locations, which was a bit of a letdown. The first winery had a nice selection, we got three wine tastings. The Burgundy was my favorite from The Heritage flight. The property itself was beautiful to walk around, with amazing scenery and lots of great photo spots. We also stopped by the sweets shop and picked up a few treats. There were also surrounding shops near the winery. Personally, they weren't really my style, but that comes down to taste. If you like clothing and home décor, you might enjoy it more. Clothing prices looked to start around $50 and went up from there. The home décor shop was very cute with lots of handmade items, mostly in the $20 range and higher. I skipped the candle shop due to allergies. The charcuterie board was a nice touch and came with a good variety of items. The second wine location included five tastings. I personally wasn't a fan of the wines here. One person in our group ordered a glass from the regular menu and shared it, it was much better than the tasting options, and most of the group seemed to agree this stop was a bit of a disappointment. That said, the views were absolutely incredible. The pizza included in the tour was a highlight for me, I had the vegetarian, and it was really good. The vegetables were fresh and crisp. There wasn't much walking around at this stop, so we mostly stayed at the table and ate. My favorite parts of the tour was the food and the tour guide. I'm glad I tried it and can check another wine region off my list, even if it wasn't my favorite experience overall. For reference, we were picked up at 9:45 AM and dropped off around 3:00 PM.

We spent a good amount of time at three wineries (the tour lasted about 5 hours), but it felt like it all went by so fast! We had ordered lunch at one of the wineries, and the food was delicious. However, it felt like the prices were a little high for the food we ordered. Nevertheless, they were accommodating with at least two vegan options! (Totally wish they had more) For my vegans, the panini was good! Mark (or 'Rags') was our tour guide, and he really made the day spectacular! He was knowledgeable and enthusiastic! He let us choose the music in the van while we went from place to place and gave us an itinerary of what to expect before we started! He was also very nice and joyful! He also brought out birthday cupcakes for the three birthday girls!! It was very cute! He was personable and a joy to spend the day with! I only wish the tour of the winery was longer! We only spent some time in a room to see how they made wine in clay pots! Otherwise, 10/10!!

I'm glad this place gives me the space to do that. I want to go back to try different dishes and wines, browse the shops, and save room for dessert! Perhaps I will come on a Friday since they have a farmer's market that day from 9am-1 pm! I had a date night and went on a Saturday, 2 hours before closing. We ordered Calabrese Pizza, Apple & Gorgonzola Pizza, Parmesan Fries, and Rigatoni & Vodka Sauce Pasta. My goodness, everything was GOOD! The Apple & Gorgonzola Pizza was my favorite, pure perfection of flavors. I know there's always a debate with pineapple on pizza but this apple and gorgonzola makes sense, I don't think anyone would ever question it. The parmesan fries was so yummy as well, you get a HEFTY amount. We actually didn't finish a good amount and took this home along with a few slices of pizza. Pasta was delicious as well, there was leftover pasta sauce that we just scooped up with the crust of the pizza. The ambience - amazing and beautiful. It is pretty spread out. I've only been here a couple times but I was able to find a table both times aside from the good amount of people the times I've came. We sat inside the tasting room and the food came out promptly. I do love that on hot days they will turn their misters on, great touch Way to keep us cool! We decided to do the Traditional Wine Tasting where you get six 1.5 oz pours of your choice for $32. Also, you can get free chocolate to pair with your wine at the dessert shop. Delicious, everything I ordered was what I needed. Everyone here just seems incredibly nice. From the people who took your order at the Kitchen, food runners, pourers, even the lady at the dessert shop (even though we didn't get any dessert lol) was friendly. We wanted to get dessert, but we had 15 minutes left till closing, however she didn't rush us out the outside area. I saw that there was a sugar free pistachio gelato flavor. I love that, seems like it was a hit because it was nearly all out! Next time I do go, I definitely want to try that and their cannolis!!! I love Cannolis. Anyways, back to the wine tasting, I believe her name is Cecilia (?), She was great. Great service along with the other pourer at the counter. I did not catch her name but she has blonde short hair and was very nice and friendly as well! Overall, 10/10, & I will be back very soon.

On our most recent visit, with another couple, we had a few hiccups with the service. The wine and bussing service were excellent. But we had to flag down the waiter to bring a missing salad after a lengthy delay. We started with an escargot appetizer ($18) with tarragon and basil compound butter, which didn't match the traditional garlic butter recipe in most restaurants. The snails weren't terrific, either. The Strawberry Caprese was a hit, and it was also $18. For entrées, the pan-seared scallops ($43) were the favorite. Followed by the chicken with seasonal vegetables ($36), then the duck (two ways, $39), confit and roasted, with the roasted being a bit dry, and a decent Madeira sauce. A couple at the next table praised the peppercorn steak, an 8-ounce ribeye, for $48.
