The wave of Muslim owned coffee shops are definitely taking the country by a storm and we are absolutely here for supporting our local coffee roasters and business owners as well giving wings to much needed social third spaces. La Souq is located in the heart of Richardson right on Main Street. With ample parking and lots of seating both indoors and outdoors, this establishment really sets itself apart as a perfect place to unwind and have a little pick me up. I especially love the neutral earthy tones of the interior, blending timelessly and giving an elegant and airy, open vibe to the entire space. If I lived in Dallas i would be here every weekend with my laptop. The cashiers are always super kind and friendly, always greeting you with a smile. I haven't tried any of their baked goods because I am religiously a matcha girly through and through. The matchas I've gotten here have been pretty good for the most part but the quality does vary slightly depending on who is making them. The vanilla matcha had no sweetness to it whatsoever which was very odd. Same goes for the fig matcha, the syrup was just not cutting it in flavor and the whole drink felt very milk heavy. I always ask for an extra shot of matcha and they just two times my drink just wasn't made strong enough. However, this past weekend I finally got my wish with the strawberry matcha which was made very very well and I was blessed with the extra matcha just as I like it. I think they should definitely work on standardizing drink consistency and quality to keep repeat patrons happy. Other than that I find this to be a wonderful gathering spot where my cousin and I love to come hang out and enjoy being around community and people of all walks of life.

7th Day Coffee - Earl gray matcha

So glad we did cos we loved the chill vibe of the cafe and their matcha lattes were yummy. I got the earl grey matcha latte, while my friend got the blueberry matcha latte. They both tasted similar and were on the sweeter side, but we liked them! My friend liked the earl grey matcha more so we switched but I really enjoyed both. The earthy matcha itself unsuccessfully tried to balance the sweetness of the flavorings. That's our fault though since we forgot to order our lattes less sweet. But honestly, I would never complain about a dessert matcha. Overall, lattes from 7th Day Coffee were the perfect intro to Dallas! If I lived out here, I could totally see myself stopping by to get work done or to chat with a friend as the other patrons were doing.

Their prices are not bad! $3.50 for a drip coffee, up to $6 for a fancy matcha. They sell Native roasted beans and had a case of appealing pastries on offer, including homemade pop-tarts. They make their specialty syrups in house! They were well-staffed on my visit ensuring that even with a busy crowd there was never a long wait.

There are a lot of auxiliary seating areas too, so you can move around and set up wherever feels right. It didn't feel awkward at all--people bought a coffee and comfortably stayed for four or five hours without any pressure to leave. Everything felt smooth and natural. I had both a coffee and a matcha, and they were great. Overall, it's definitely a very good place to get work done. They have free, unlimited internet, lots of different spots to settle into, and parking was relatively easy. The chocolate croissant was good--slightly on the heavier side considering I planned to be sitting for a while--but still delicious. The crowd skewed younger, which was refreshing since so many places lately feel more heavily older-populated. All in all, great environment, great energy, and super conducive for getting things done.

They have a good cozy vibe going also good if you need a place to do homework, study, or get some work done. The staff were very friendly and nice which is good. I always get a little envious of how every suburb of Dallas seems to have such a cool town square,…read moreand Plano is no different. Located among the shops and bars of historic downtown sits 1418 Coffee, a cute and genuinely great little shop that fits the area perfectly. Inside, the shop is fairly narrow but offers a good amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. I arrived with a friend a little before 11 am on a Sunday, and it was absolutely packed. A biking group was posted up outside, students were inside working on homework, even though most colleges have not started yet, and plenty of other patrons were taking their Sunday mornings easy. Despite having at least 10 to 15 people in front of us, the line moved pretty quickly. My friend who was more of a regular at the shop knew a lot of the staff and had convos with them. It feels like a little community! I ordered the Maple Sausage Croissant sourced from Sugar Loaf Bakery along with a hot Purple Haze latte made with lavender and vanilla syrup. My drink came out fairly quickly, and I thought it was great. It was well balanced and not overly sweet. As for the Maple Sausage Croissant, it was exactly what it sounded like, a maple sausage tucked into a croissant. I initially expected the croissant itself to be maple flavored, similar to a McGriddle, but it was still fresh and enjoyable. They had been keeping them warm in a heater throughout the morning, which definitely helped. I have stopped by 1418 Coffee a few times when visiting Dallas, and I plan to keep returning. They consistently do a great job and fit right into the charm of downtown Plano. RIYL: A warm haven in a beautiful downtown.
