I had the best luck getting Tito to help me order 6 bottles of wine as a gift for my daughter for Christmas. I live in Minnesota and her and her husband in Carrollton TX, its very hard knowing what is a good business and which one to avoid from so far away. Tito helped me over the phone choose several bottles of wine and told me how to make the online order for delivery. They didnt offer any gift wrapping which was fine, I really didnt expect it. But he did the best he could and found a really nice box. He called me after the driver left with it so I would know it was being delivered. What a guy! He really was super nice and he could have washed his hands of me at several points of the phone call & the transaction. A guy that said he was the manager came to the cash register to price match total wine prices. I have coming to this location for a while doing the same thing with no problem. Of course there is no Law Enforcement officer there normally. This manager name is Tito , he is Hispanic and rude to customers . He never spoke to me at all. He asked me what location was the total wine they are price matching. I told him they have never done that before. He responded "well I am" . He proceeded to be rude about it and then he just abruptly told me to leave the location. Keep in mind I spend money at this location all the time. He acted as if I was stealing. Racist . Well in Texas, not only do you go to liquor stores, but you end up with TONS of liquor stores all bundled together in the same area. And of the 7(ish) liquor stores right next to each other a couple blocks from my house, where do I go OVER, and OVER, and OVER again? Goody Goody. Hands down, they always have great service, great people, and a great selection. They almost always have what I'm looking for, and if for some reason they don't, it's always been due to a distribution issue so no one else in the area has it either. Oh, Goody Goody, how you make my alcoholism more appealing an accessible! Not really - I kid, I kid. But, truthfully, being from small town Texas, I never imagined such a wide selection of alcoholic beverages could exist in one convenient location! A friend referred me here when I needed to stock my cabinets for an upcoming party. Needless to say, I left with way more than I intended... But none of it went to waste :) For the most part, I spend my time in the liquor section because, well, I like my drinks like I like my men: cheap and stiff... Zing! The liquor section always amazes me because I wasn't aware there were so many varieties of the various types of booze. I was not aware that you could find $8 vodka - not that I'd ever try it, but its good info to have! No matter what you're trying to find, you'll have more than a few brands to choose from. Also, this store always runs promotions and sales, so you can usually find your favorite liquor at something of a steal. Be sure to check this area out during the holidays for great gift sets for your token drinking buddy or even yourself if you need to add to your collection. The wine selection is amazing and takes up the entire left wing of the store. Whether you're looking for red, white, sparkling, champagne, or the stuff in a box, you'll be set. I like to frequent the wine section because they often have good sales and have select bottles marked down. Also, some of the wines have the rating information right by the price tag, so you know what you're getting up front with little to no guessing. There are even some wines & champagnes already in the freezer section, chilling off so your party doesn't have to wait to begin. I love perusing this area, even if I'm not in the mood for wine. The beer section is the smallest of the three, so far as I can tell. Some of it is refrigerated, some of its in plain ol' cases stacked nearby. There is plenty of variety, but I noticed that you can get most of what they sell cheaper at nearby shops. I don't mind paying a buck or so extra if I'm in a hurry, but this isn't my first choice for beer buying. The back wall is devoted mostly to mixers (various juices, mixes, etc.) and random items like cups and plates. Beware: this section appears to have the highest markup. I usually avoid this wall unless I'm in a bind and don't have time to hit up a regular store. Still, the selection is impressive and I doubt you leave without something tasty to include in your beverage. I also like that this store has a mandatory policy to card everyone who crosses the checkout line. Well, that & having my ID requested makes me feel like a girl of 21 again *giggle* I think I've only been once or twice where I wasn't carded & that was probably because I knew the clerk by his first name. Not that I visit often or anything. Right... Leave the kiddos at home, people. This is adults only, no exceptions. The staff is always friendly and the store is kept pretty clean. Back in the days when the 'burbs was our thing, my family made our home in Plano. Yep, the draw was above average schools, above average city services, and people who looked just like us: white folks, 32.7 years of age with 1.6 pets, 2.9 trees, 13.3 bushes and 2.4 children. Demographics have changed in this Dallas satellite, but one thing remains: its inhabitants must commute somewhere else to buy booze. Important to note is the fact that there was one important difference between me and my other neighbors: while most of my white, child-bearing neighbors commuted from Plano to Dallas for work, I worked in Plano and commuted to Dallas almost exclusively to buy booze. My neighbors were happy to simply stop by the store on the way home; however, I found this booze-commute thing to be really unnerving. Still, I got pretty good at pricing commute costs in BPG (booze per gallon of gas), similar to the ways one might calculate the costs of driving X miles to purchase cheaper fuel. For example, I'd compare drive times between the Goody-Goody in The Colony with GG- Addison. In The Colony I always loved driving past the infamous Artic Liquors - not "Arctic", mind you, but some kind of Artsy-like booze place. Then there were the stores on Greenville but they were waaay too far away in BPG terms. Now I live in a wet area in Dallas and don't miss the booze commutes one bit. Instead, get this, I am the rum runner for my old man who lives in Plano and doesn't drive much. (Sweet irony, I say!) GG-Addison still stays on my short list for booze, but not for beer and wine. Why? Well, yes they have the best booze selection in town at great prices; however, they fell off my list for beer and wine for separate reasons. Domestic beers are cheapest and most convenient at the grocery. Exotic beers (we are major fans of Delirium Tremins, for example), must be shopped more like one finds truffles, I suppose. I used to be a major fan of GG wines - both selection and prices, but I cooled in recent months. You see, our household is what Marketing people might call "heavy half users" of wine, consuming a couple hundred bottles per year. I found GG's high-volume wines to be fine but I was getting an enormous number of bad bottles of their high-end wines. I got someone there to admit that they transfer their old stock from other stores to GG-Addison, so I'm just sure I was getting bottles that were ancient and tortured. Then one day I saw my favorite Barossa Shiraz stacked high in the men's rest room. Eeeewwww! I commented to the head wine guy but got one of those "I dunno" responses, so I walked. GG-Addison? Yeah, I'm a fan of their booze, but I'd encourage you to check their wines carefully. read more

I usually go to Specs just because it's on the corner of Beltline Road & Inwood Road, which is convenient. I decided to venture half a block further down Addison's "liquor row." We used to frequent the Goody-Goody's in Uptown a couple of years ago and I remember that everyone there was always really friendly. Well, I'm glad that I came because they did not lead us astray. The nice gentleman (unfortunately I didn't catch his name) came over to assist me in the beer section. I didn't see a price on the Modelo so he looked it up. He told me it was cheaper at Walmart and offered to match that price. Call me simple but that just made my day! I'm a simple girl one that just makes my day! After I paid, he just grabbed my bags after carried them out to my without even asking. He told me to have a great night, opened my car door and went on his way. This place has been our Go-To place for wines and spirits for as long as we've lived in the area. We enjoy the Saturday tastings on currently featured wines & spirits. They have the best prices and selections we have found on domestic wines and others from Australia, Spain, South America, and New Zealand. We are frequently surprised to find serious bargains on French wines of notable quality. I canceled my subscription to Wine Spectator years ago, so I rely on Mrs. Bear's wine ESP for selections (she has a better than 95% accuracy on her picks). When we are stuck on a decision between two or more labels, we can usually find a Goody employee to help us out. Goody's beer selections, although not numerous, are impressive for the brands they have, but lately the prices are bordering on "outrageous" - I really don't understand what's happened to beer prices lately! The good domestic microbrews are approaching the best imports in cost these days. Goody's also has a great selection of tequilas, including all my favorite premium varieties. We always find the best margarita supplies here. It can be a little daunting to find certain specialty items like some liqueurs, and selection of single malt Scotch is a challenge. Sometimes I can't find the gin or rum I want. Aisles are narrow, and single-lane passage only! So except for narrow aisles and sometimes-confusing layouts, this place is great for us fans of beer, wine and strong spirits. read more

To be very honest, I wasn't looking to come here. I was actually ignoring the sign and trying to cut through the parking lot/private road that my GPS told me was the fastest route to my destination as I drove by Goody Goody. Seeing as it was a couple of days before Christmas, and a colleague had done me some really really solid favors in the prior few weeks, I saw this as a sign. Promptly turning around and parking in front of Goody Goody, the outside didn't impress, but I figured they'd have a Jack Daniels which I could tastefully wrap. Oh my - what a surprise. Excellent selection, and a walk down the whiskey aisle could lead to some real fun problems if this place were local to me. All in all, I made out like an absolute champ. There was one bottle of Jack Daniels Holiday Select left on the shelf, and my colleague was absolutely floored, having never seen one before. Thank you, Goody Goody. I love this location! If you want cheaper recommendations for your more "bourgeois" selections, the sales team here is knowledgeable enough to help you out. I visited to find a specific whiskey that wasn't sold in the area and they offered a cheaper brand, from the same country, in way cuter packaging, and the quality was amazing. Besides my pre-COVID in store experience being consistently AWESOME, my "we're all living by the grace of 'Rona right now so service might suck, be kind anyway" delivery experience with this location has been amazing as well. Even when I called the store prior for questions concerning my order via the 3rd party delivery service they use here in Dallas, Drizly, the guy I got was so nice and professional. He patiently walked me through my order and what the issue was (not on their part). I've called other times since and always get him and he always remembers my very complicated foreign name which is reason for praise on its own. All this to say, I've loved this location for 3 years now and even in a pandemic, the sales agents have been consistent and kind. The addition of Drizly delivery has only further propelled them ahead of the local competition here in Addison so if you're looking for a specific brand that might not be easy to find OR you're looking for a deal and a warm welcome even if you order delivery and pick-up, Goody Goody is like it's namesake- a Goody! This store is very large with a great selection of alcohol to chose from. For the most part the staff is very helpful and friendly; however, the manager is absolutely horrible. He got into an argument with a customer over building the wall and then would not sell to him? It is not the managers job to talk politics in a business. I too have had problems with this manager because my bank cards chip is broken. I carry my card in my wallet which gets sat on and therefore tends to break. The manager obviously would not know this because he carries a purse. My bank allows for swiping of the card if the chip does not work; however, this very unprofessional manager would not allow the sale even though I had proper ID and was using a debit card that required my pin number. Personally I believe he would not let it happen because of my making America great again hat that he commented on at least two occasions. I will not go back to this place as long as this guy is the manager. read more

Having been a patron of this establishment for almost half my life, I can say this is probably the best place to get what you want in Dallas. The people are friendly and the selection is top-notch. They regularly have tastings and very competitive pricing. They have all of the great english, irish, and scottish ales (belhaven, newcastle, smithwicks, old speckled hen) which are sometimes hard to find all in one location. The same is also true for the belgian and trappist (duval, orval, rochefort, maredsous, chimay, etc). The wine selection is spectacular. There's plenty of parking and they have convenient carts.
