I think we can all agree that bevmo holds a niche that isn't really tested in San Diego. It's way classier than any liquor store and generally offers a Costco-esque experience. With the beer game changing it really isn't about the major breweries, but the local craft breweries. With them spread out all over the county it can be difficult to try them without going there. Sure there are tap houses, pour rooms, ale houses, whatever you want to call them, perhaps drinking at home is more your thing and growlers aren't either. Bevmo is the perfect place to find hundreds of beers from hundreds of breweries both local and non local. I think that part of their appeal lies in their distribution. The consistency of being able to find a seasonal beer at most ANY bevmo is a comforting luxury. My dukedom at the Vista Way Location is in jeopardy as this is half the distance that is to my house and near 1 of my preferred groceries in Frazier Farms. The parking lot is super weird. What's with the split lanes and stop sign right as you roll in and really no separation of parking lots. I'll give them that the spaces are on the wide side, but the main flow of traffic will cause people parking along the length of the building issues as they speed by. It's got the classic Bevmo feel with the red highlights, but the layout isn't quite as ergo as other places, but I can totally see their design. To me the progression should be liquor, beer, wine, liqueurs and accessories funneled right at the end. The walk in isn't quite a standout ish as other, but the tasting area is pretty neat for almost a HH area. Always well staffed and I really dig the red vanity blockers so you don't' just see boxes everywhere. Some of the items are only a knee height and they store on the bottom which makes reading labels for the bottom much easier, but not all of the racks are like that which is odd. Just tried to order wine on line for the vista store. However, the gopuf/ bev mo app would not take my payment info after I signed on with my bevmo ID. I called the store and they told me to contact go puf. I suggested this is their problem to resolve, I'm the customer. The manager said they would make a one time exception and take my order over the phone which I did. Bevmo management needs to reaffirm they provide service to us, THE CUSTOMER!!! read more

One bottle of Cîroc French Vanilla and one bottle of Kraken, which were both ridiculously cheap compared to prices you'd find in a grocery store or liquor store. The elderly man with grey hair that was working the first register stopped me at the door . I'm an African American male musical artist who was kidnapped and burned alive a three years old . Before I walked in people were walking in and out freely with masks on . I walk to the door with my mask and he stops me at the entrance. I'm fully dressed shoes and shirt on . Not sagging or anything. He stops me and tells me I have to wait at the door . Manager who is the sweetest kindest person I've met (Thank you patty!) comes to help me with my order. As I leave people are still coming and going as they please he says NOTHING TO ANYONE . Yes the new people coming in wasn't the same color as me. I felt like a thug . I would give 0 stars if I could. I am a 32 year man with a mustache and went to this store with my mom who had a serious neck injury and wanted to get some drinks to ease the pain. I carried the bottles for my mom because she was in so much pain that she had a hard time carrying things or bending over and I put them on the counter for her. The man who rang us up was an overweight bald white male with glasses and missing a front tooth, he told us because I put it on the counter and didn't bring my ID we couldn't buy it. Then after that we drove to the next closest BevMo and the freeway was shut down for multiple exits before the store and ended up adding an extra 40 minutes to our trip. We used to go to this store for 5 years and now they've completely changed staff and the vibe is completely different. Do not recommend going to this location. read more

Went to BevMo to pick up an online order today and had the worst experience. I was standing near the Online Order Pick-Up sign for several minutes before an employee (I believe her name was Shoele) approached me. I thought she was coming over to help me out so I said a friendly hello. She responded with, "Is there a reason why you are just standing here?" I pointed to the sign and told her I was picking up an order. She proceeded to rudely ask my name and grab my items. When I pointed out I was missing some items she made it seem like I was seriously inconveniencing her by asking to receive the additional items I ordered. Then she sounded shocked when I told her I would return for my second box of items as there was no way I could carry it all out in one trip. I don't expect all employees to be happy-go-lucky on a Saturday morning, but professionalism is a must. A simple, "Can I help you?" would have been more than appropriate. Shoele, if you were having a bad day I am sorry. But there is no need to take it out on customers. I have been to several other BevMo locations and never had any issues. Yes this is my first review, but I think it's worthy to let everyone know about my experience. Went there to get a bottle of tequila. I was helped by Sam. She was super awesome! Super helpful and made me and my husband feel comfortable. She knew what she was talking about. We noticed someone else that was walking around whoworked there and he made us feel uncomfortable. He was extremely rude and unprofessional when he was talking to sam. Not a good feeling. I'm a regular at this store and I've noticed a change since the new manager Jared has taken over. The employees seem a lot more on edge, and unhappy. This store was awesome 8 months ago when I first moved here from Iowa. Now, not so much. The employees seem like they're walking on egg shells. Went here today with my girlfriend.She needed a last minute gift for her mom, so we were in a slight hurry. We walked up and the blonde-haired lady said (with a smug grin) that we needed to order beforehand (as you can't walk inside bc of Covid19)... we walked back to our car, with the flier they gave us- it read: "3 Ways to Order"- online, the app & by phone... so we called from our car, and the lady laughed and said no you need to use the app.... Okay, then maybe you should revise your flier, just saying. So we go online, and their online app isn't taking my card for whatever reason so I called back in and this time a male answered and he said, do you know the wine you want? I said ya, and asked when I should come up to the door (I was just outside)... but with a rude & sarcastic voice, he said, "You have to give me a minute!... I was just being nice, so that was really strange behavior... All 3 employees acted like we were an inconvenience all bc they didn't want to "shop"/provide better service during these 'challenging times'... that would mean their job duties would get more involved without an increase in payment... so instead, they provide themselves in little to no service bc they are probably "over it". read more

Ridiculous return policy. Don't buy anything that is sold in a box! I bought a cocktail shaker that was brand new took it home and opened it up and inside it was all gross and rusted. I put it in my car to return within about a week or two since most reasonable businesses allow you 14-30 days. After just over a week I was going to return it and I found out they return policy is 7 DAYS! That's even shorter than Apple! I'll never shop at another BevMo. The store is nice looking and the employees were nice but this is a warning to other customers. You're fine buying alcohol there but anything that's in a box should be opened and inspected before you leave the store because otherwise they'll sell you dirty products and keep your money. I went to BevMo today and asked an employee a legitimate question - Do you know if Legacy dates their cans? I was told "I don't know". Period. No offer to check. I said, well, do you sell singles of your beers? Again, no. I don't remember how it all went so wrong, but the guy had an attitude. I said something like you work here, and he said something like I don't know what Legacy does. Then he told me I was rude. We finally walked over to the beer fridge, and he looked at the cans. Since they weren't dated, and I happened to know that I'd seen that beer there a few months ago, I asked if we didn't like it could we return it. His answer was "No, that's not the way alcohol works." Talk about rude, and condescending and not helpful. So I went to the front and asked for a manager, and you guessed it, rude unhelpful guy was the manager. There are like 40 places within a 1 mile radius of me to buy beer/wine/booze. I will NEVER go to BevMo again. Any BevMo. The "manager" continued his "discussion" with me at the register so I asked him, do you know if Stone dates their cans? and he said yes they do. So I said, it's not unusual to ask about that, and expect someone who works with alcohol every day to either know the answer or check. I'm not going to spend $14.00 on a 6-pack of an IPA which could be months old. I've seen so much old beer on that BevMo's shelves, I wouldn't trust a can that wasn't dated and someone who works with alcohol should understand and appreciate that. read more

I fricken love BevMo!! My friends and I come here whenever we're going to have a little get together or have a night in and play games. They have just about every liquor , wine and beer to satisfy just about everyone. What's also cool is they have pub snacks, glasses and more! It's really fun store to look around too. Every time I've come here the workers have been super friendly and kind. They're talkative too which I personally love. You can ask anyone that works there for recommendations and the times I have , I've loved what they've recommended. The store is extremely clean and well organized. They also have deals sometimes where is buy one get one for 5¢. The only bummer is you can't mix and match brands but it's still a really awesome deal. I highly recommend trying this store out if you're having a BBQ or a friends night in! read more

Only positive of the place is good selection They trick you in to a taste test of beer and wine and then inform you its $2 after. If you happen to buy liquor or beer for a gathering and its too much and want to return it they hassle you and even threaten you before doing the right and fair thing and refund your money and that's for a return the next day of unopened bottles in closed boxes just as you bought it as well as sealed and unopened bottles.. I have been to several Bevmos before. In general I am a huge fan. This particular location is new and much smaller than most of the other locations. Due to the smaller space the variety is less than other locations that I have been to. However, there was still a really good selection of options for me to choose from. This location is closest to my home and I am thrilled to have some where close to go. When I want to try something new there is still plenty to choose from. What I really enjoy about this store is the staff. Every single time I go I interact with someone different, but they all have been extremely helpful and courteous. I get good recommendations without getting a pushy sales pitch, which I love. I know I will be back :) read more

Been shopping at this location for years. Lately, some of the rudest people have been working there. Whenever you need help, no one is available unless you try and find someone at the register. And they're always busy. Anytime you find someone stocking items, they act like it's a huge issue and inconvenience that they have to help. I don't know his name but he's either Filipino or Hawaiian. Also, your cashier today was rude. She entered my phone number wrong and tried to tell me it didn't exist but when she did it again it was fine. I asked her about a certain whiskey and told her I couldn't find it. She asked somebody and they were going to show me but I said would it be OK if he just grabbed me one because there was like 20 people in line. She then snapped her neck at me and said he is going to show you where they are at! So I said forget it just rang up this gentleman Jack. In her high pitch fake sweet voice she said OK no problem. Then that same guy comes over to me and says well we have two separate sizes with an attitude, and I told him the small one would've been fine but that's OK. He stormed off. My husband and I have been going to BevMo for years we get and on the 5-cent wine sale regularly and do quite a bit of Christmas shopping there however I will not be visiting this particular BevMo ever again they have a guy there named Michael who is by far the rudest person I've ever encountered in any store. I would say everyone has a bad day so I would give him a break however this is not the first encounter we've had with him where he has been this way. I find Bevmo's service to be rude at the store. Because of COVID all orders have to be done online. Bevmo's web site is horrible and non intuitive. Items are shown to be out of stock but when you call the store it's in stock. I will be cancelling my account and spend the extra money to order from Amazon. Fair warning though, the kid working the register has repeatedly been disingenuous, sarcastic and cynical at checkout. They are always out of stock of regular items i can find at a good liquor store. This is on top of there high prices. Some of the items are so overpriced it makes me furious to buy here. Disappointed.... The review below was obviously written by a Bevmo employee. The beer selection is limited and spotty. Instead of having multiple selections from a smaller amount of breweries they have one or two beers from many, quite different from the Bevmo of the past. I did not see a full line of any local brewer. I guess I am spoiled by the selection available at area independent liquor stores. To add insult to injury the prices were a buck higher than my corner store. The place is pretty and spacey. I think it is setup for the rookie drinker. To heck with pretty. Maybe I am spoiled by the Bevmo on Vista Way because this new Bevmo is kind of a let down. Not sure if there was a reason but they made this location way too small. Considering San Diego is a beer place I feel like they did not devote enough space to beer. The selection is lacking when compared to the Vista Way location and when compared to other local liquor stores. They also have too many large scale beer choices instead of micro brews from locally and non-locally. My other beer issue is that they have way more 6 packs and large than single bottles. Many craft beer drinkers like to purchase singles in order to try more beers. I haven't ventured over to the wine or liquor sections yet in my two visits here but it seems alright even though it is also probably a smaller selection than other places. I will say that the employees here are very nice and helpful and the store is very clean with easy parking and freeway access. read more

I have to agree with the reviews citing poor customer service - most all of the employees have never uttered as much as a "thank you" at the end of the transaction. I, from habit, always say thank you as I leave - their response is usually "uh huh," or "yeah," or "no problem," that is, if they say anything at all. We choose to shop at Bevmo!, because of the convenience and the great selection of craft beer. Tonight, I went in with a list of four selections that my husband saw on the Bevmo! website. After searching for about 20 minutes, I was only able to find one of the selections. In that time, I was not offered any help. I heard others customers being offered assistance, but, not once was I approached. I suppose I could have hunted down a sales clerk, but, after volunteering for seven hours I was not in the mood. Finally, I just called my husband and asked for alternative selections. I give the two stars to the delightful cashier (my sales receipt says her name is Nina), who greets everyone as they walk in and she goes out of her way to help you at check out time. read more
