Today I went into BevMo (never really shopped there) I was immediately asked if I needed help looking for anything by Jorge. I did ask him if he had any recommendations on some wine for a special dinner. Jorge knew a wealth of knowledge about wine and I immediately knew what was going to impress my dinner guest. Upon check out, Isabel pointed out some great deals they had going on, (which I ended up adding) and she asked about my plans, Isabel seemed very genuine and helpful. Haven't reviewed in a while but today's experience made me do this. I walked in looking for one thing. Boddington's beer. There was a sign for it on a shelf but nothing was there. So I asked a guy working there, who, admittedly, was taking in a shipment. "You're gonna hafta wait," he said before I could even ask anything. "I'm just looking for Boddington's." "I don't know what that is," he said. "You're gonna hafta ask the girl in the front." So, I look around, find a couple other things and go to check out and, yes, ask for the Boddington's. Nobody is there. I say, "hello?" loudly. Nothing. I walk out the door and come back to to get the door chime to go off. Say again "Hello?" louder. Nothing. "Hello?" a third time. So, I left. I just received an email that my Thanksgiving wine - Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Villages Nouveau 750 ml just arrived. So this location was the closest one to my house. Jesse helped me, finally finding the wine and bringing it out in a box. Store was pretty empty, but the search for the wine got involved all employees and a manager. Yes, the prices are higher than at Total Wine and Vista 8.25% sales tax doesn't help, but the location is prime (on a side note Bev Mo in Carlsbad is on a similar distance for me, but I would not recommend it or shop there). read more

A liquor store in the same parking lot as a home improvement store, brilliant marketing? Maybe... The location is convenient, right off the freeway, just a couple of turns and you're in the big parking lot shared with Lowe's. A bit smaller than other BevMo's and not as brightly lit. When it first opened the selection was pretty decent. But this store has changed since it partnered with GoPuff which is both good and bad. There's less alcohol to make room for other products. I've been coming here every month to use my GoPuff credits. Employees are friendly and helpful. Prices are a little higher than Total Wine but the location is more convenient and I don't have to sit on the 78 during rush hour. read more

I stopped in on my way to my sister and brother-in-law's place for dinner...they like the Bixby Creek Red Blend....which if you love a good Red Blend....it's a must try (really delicious). The store has a convenient location right off the 78. The parking lot has plenty of spaces and the store is super organized and they carry about any beverage you can think of along with an incredible selection of sodas that would have a kid standing there for an hour. Snacks like nuts and party mixes, chips, cheeses and crackers...everything. They also have the .05 cent wine sale. The service could be better at this particular location though...kind of rude....but you only deal with it for a couple minutes and it's a great store. Management should read and take this seriously....you have a great setup....don't let your store managers ruin it all by letting your folks be....well...rude. This is one of my favorite BevMo locations because they have a great selection of beers and the workers are usually helpful. I went here recently to get beers for the SuperBowl. I was looking for a stout and I asked one of the employees-who was named Jake-if he could help me find a good one. He showed me around the stout and porters and gave me multiple options and flavors to think about. I ended up going with the Darkstar Oatmeal Stout because of Jake's recommendation of it having a deep and rich flavor with a high ABV. I enjoyed the beer that day and I am grateful for Jake's help. The thing I like about BevMo is that they sell chips and snacks just in case you need some to go along with your beers. Writing this on behalf of my mother that went in the other day and experienced something that was completely unprofessional. There was a young man literally shouting and broadcasting his frustration with another coworker at the store. Cussing and pacing back and forth in the cashier area. The young lady behind the register clearly seemed uncomfortable. This man literally seem like he was going to fight someone. He was extremely aggressive with his words and body language.
