Located on busy Wilshire Blvd, this location is pretty large and uncluttered. The aisles are well-organized, as most of their stores seem to be. They have a nice selection of beers and wines. I do wish that they had a bigger selection of barleywines though. Staff is friendly too. read more

This is a strange lay out for a bevmo since it's sharing the entrance with a CVS.. So I guess you could get your drink on while your pictures are developing, or something. For a shared space, this store feels like it's got a lot of room in it. It sure houses a lot of beer, wine and spirits. Not to mention that it has a lot of room between the sales floor and the cashiers. So bravo on the lay out of the store. I also have to stand up and cheer for their beer selection. While I've come to expect BevMo to have a fairly good microbrew section, this one seems to top many of the others in term of what beers it has that I haven't seen others carry. They have a lot of seasonal beers from breweries that I haven't heard or sampled from before, that in itself is high star worthiness. It goes to show you that the folks here know how to order their stuff. I did come here once to pick up some stoogies as a thank you gift and they were really easy going and helpful with the whole transaction and hassle of going to the cigar case. Over all, they have a lot of microbrewed beers. Lots of rare stuff and interesting drinks. So well worth the visit, especially if your lady is next door at CVS trying to figure out what hair color, pads, make up or whatever else they're trying to buy. read more

I bought little liquor bottles as party favors and they were a hit! I also got a wine pourer/stopper as I keep wasting wine when I can't finish a bottle. The only downside to my experience was that the cashier forgot to bag my wine pourer/stopper. I was bummed when I didn't see when I got home. I couldn't drink some wine that night without my new purchase! Luckily, I called the manager the next day and he fixed the problem pretty quickly. I have been a Bevmo member for years in Santa Monica in Wilshire. I am a 61 years old and have used my card every-time I go to the store. I ordered 2 cases of wines from them for years to be delivered to my home in Santa Monica because I have 20 steps to bring the case upstairs an am disabled. But it's convenient, along with a good selection of salami, jerky, cookies/crackers and candy. This place is awesome! I am so happy BevMo finally put a location on the West Side. (Right down the street from my house!!!!) Went there last night to stock up on the 5 cent wine sale. 3 times workers asked me if I needed help (which I did,) one of them even brought us a box for the wine and a cart. Very impressive customer service. Since I am part of Club O (I think that's what it's called.) They send you discount coupons and you can order online, then pick up at your local store! AWESOME! Pricing is very good and the 5 cent sale is awesome. This is a good place to go and know you aren't being totally ripped off. They have underground parking which is never full. It shares space and parking with CVS so if you need personal items or pharmacy along with those booze, you are steps away. :) read more

I live close by, so I have been using this store since it first opened. Parking is easy, and almost every employee is spectacular. Almost. One of the employees, manager actually, is a tall grey-haired guy who always wears shorts. This guy has been there since the beginning, and I have always held less that stellar service from him - for years now- probably because I am not a moderately (or greater) attractive younger female. It's almost funny how not subtle he is about it. I've been in there with a girlfriend to have him help her, then I walk up, and he won't even answer a question. He isn't a creep with the women, but he just doesn't like to help dudes. Multiple times over a few years I have seen this. My last time in there, prompting this review: I had seen availability via their website on a wine i needed. It said 15 bottles in stock, i wanted all 15. When i got there, i searched for the wine myself, couldn't find it, then asked "Shorts" where i could find it. His response, literally: "90% of what you find on the internet is lies." SWEAR. He wasn't even being funny, and he looked at me like i was an asshole for even asking about it. It was the bevmo site, "Shorts!!!!!" Even an employee next to him gave me a look like "who the ef is this guy?" Ended up driving two blocks away to Jerry's Liquor (easier parking) and found the wine I needed at 25% LESS than bevmo. WIN. I just had one of the worst customer experiences imaginable. After returning home and checking my receipt, I noticed I was overcharged on an expensive bottle of wine. One that was advertised in store as on sale. (I didn't notice at the store because because I bought a lot of liquor on that trip:-) Anyway, I went back a few day later and asked to return it, because I hate went companies overcharge for things. The manager could not have been a bigger jerk. He laughed and said they don't take returns on alcohol and just walked away. So I followed him and said, okay at least give me the discount. His response was hey man, we don't do price guarantees either. Are you serious? Then he said, look my hands are tied. What? But it gets even better - or worse depending on how you look at it. I finally got him to walk over with me to where the wine was displayed and showed him the sale signage. And there it was. He looked at it carefully, read some small fine print and then laughed and said ah - it's now expired! You lose! Whoa. But it continues to get even worse. Are you going to do anything? No. Aren't you even going to take down the deceptive advertising? His response was to turn his back on me, leave the ad up and walk away. Needless to say, I'll never buy a thing from BevMo again. And I'll let all my friends and family, and you all know. It's sad really, when one person destroys a brand in a single encounter. Customer service generally sets a good company a part from bad company. And with this encounter I can only conclude that BevMo is a horrible company. Oh, and by the way I'd like to see a no star or minus star for the rating my yelp buddies, this one doesn't even deserve the single star. read more

BevMo has the best selection of alcoholic beverages. They also have a pretty cool beer tasting for a dollar on Fridays from 5pm to 8pm and wine tasting on Saturdays from 12pm to 3pm. I would also recommend trying a mystery box of beer for $16.99. It's a pretty cool deal where you can get some beers you perhaps have never tried. They actually did not have a box ready in the store, but I asked nicely and they made one for me in the back. Just ask one of the employees :D read more

I LOVE BEVMO! Let me count the ways... 1. They're dog friendly. Any place where I can knock out errands with my dog in tow gets an A+ from me! I'm very anti-leaving the dog in the car, no matter what the temperature, so the fact that traveling canines along for the ride can stay with their humanoids while they shop makes me so, so happy! I put Marty in the kid's seat of my cart and he's good to go. 2. They have all my favorite beer!!! Golden Road, Dogfish Head, Einstok...such a great selection. 3. Um, buy one get one (for 5 cents) wine. Need I say more? 4. They even have SNACKS that I love! Come at me, jalapeño kettle chips. 5. Basically they have every beverage your little heart could desire, and with the club membership, the prices are great. 6. Parking is a breeze underground! 7. They always offer you a box for free to take your goodies home safely. It's just so easy to shop here, and I really, really love that there's a place I can run an errand if I happen to have my pup with me. BevMo!, you're the best. read more

Today I went in and got about 120$ worth of wine and wanted to get a good champagne. They had Krug grand cuvée by LVHM, a great champagne. Their price $235 club price $210 I checked what Total Wine had it for they sell it for $167 I asked for a price match which they normally do I was told they don't match price for items in a locked case. BS cause I know they do. Anyway I moved on thinking I'll just get it from Total Wine. I was getting help for a vodka out of their vodka case. I asked the guy is it because it's the holidays you won't match? I figured they think New Years, Christmas some sucker is going to pay 25% premium for the privilege of buying it from them. They referred the question to a manager who told me as of December 9th they were told by the management not to match. I said save me the drive don't match but lower it a bit, I'm not knowingly paying $40 more for the bottle. She was also not allowed to do that within their new policy. Bev Mo you probably couldn't do a better job if you had set out to create a worst customer experience. I did make the purchase for the rest of my selection and ordered the champagne from Total Wine for $40 less. But the more I think about it the more it bothers me and I think I'll probably never be back. Policy tells me we will overcharge you and don't care. At this day an age can you really afford to drop customers over $40? I wonder what you customer acquisition cost is? I wonder what my lifetime spending value for Bev Mo is to risk that business over $40? Maybe you should reconsider this new policy. The staff was attentive, polite and responsive. This is absolutely not a reflection of their actions or service. So don't put it back on them. read more

Used to be my favorite store in LA, by far. Until they took up this new practice of swiping your CA license into this little machine when you make a purchase. That machine captures your full name, address, drivers' license number and date of birth, just to make a purchase. There is absolutely no need for this. Furthermore, the newer drivers' licenses have your DOB raised on the surface. They insist this is new "corporate" practice. I already have enough trouble protecting my identity without risking it for a bottle. Understandably, they have to verify age, but this is NOT the way to do it. The company that services those little machines is a third party, not part of BevMo. So here goes: your ID info is captured, then you go on to swipe your ClubBev card and like most people, your credit card. Some data aggregator is going to have great fun with that one day. No thanks, BevMo! I'll shop somewhere else than risk having my ID compromised. read more

This is a wonderful location and space for a BevMo!, and one finally easy to get to from the Westside. There's an free and easy underground parking lot to avoid the parking woes of Santa Monica. Of course if it's full, there is ample metered parking along the streets. It shares a space with CVS, and it feels like they are part of the same store. For a shared building location, it is still quite large and spacious. It is very brightly lit and clean. More notably, the staff is super friendly. I didn't have to try to find someone to help me out as there was always someone available or even one to ask me if I needed help while I was browsing. The selection here is quite good, from beer to liquor to sodas and accessories. There were a few things that didn't have price labels on the shelves yet despite being stocked in the right section, but as it's a newer store they probably have not printed them out yet. Either way, it wouldn't be too hard to find one of the many friendly staff to help you out. I forgot my BevMo! card and the clerk didn't even flinch an eye to scan an extra card so I could have the item discounts. I'm glad finally have a close place to pickup booze and booze-related accessories close to where I live! :) read more

Great selection of everything you would need regarding booze. They have all the specialty flavored vodkas I look for and cannot find at normal grocery stores. However, their prices aren't competitive, so sometimes Ralphs next doors has better prices for certain items. This is by far, my favorite BevMo of ALL TIME! I came here like two days before New Years (when everyone and their mothers is getting ready for New Years celebrations - ie buying ALL the alcohol :P). I was supposed to pick up a red wine for my friend and yummy Riesling for myself (I'm a fan of sweet wine - sue me :P). However, my problem was, that I had no idea what to get. As being a fan of only sweet wine, I had no sense of what a great red wine tasted like. So I ran into Joshua. Seriously, that man is a lifesaver and I will only go to BevMo to see him now! I seriously ran up to him and was like, "I need a fruity red wine for a friend and have no idea where to look." He asked me a few questions and then pointed me to a few selections he thought my friend would love. He also pointed me to a very sweet red wine that I, personally, could try to eventually move into the red wines. The wines he chose were part of the buy one, get the second for 5 cents deals (except for the really sweet red wine - but I only wanted one of those anyway!), so of course I splurged a bit. With a deal like that, who can refuse? I also could not decide what type of Riesling I wanted, so I asked for his assistance again. Seriously, this guy is amazing! He chose wines (with the same deal - nice!) that he said I would love. I seriously came home with 5 bottles of wine! :P All I can say is, he was absolutely right my friend and I both loved the wines he selected!!! Thanks so much Joshua! I assumed that all BevMo! locations are created equal, but not so! The craft beer collection here is simply incredible. Over three solid aisles and endcaps with most of the varieties hailing from Belgium, Germany, and local breweries. I saw bottled versions of many of the beers I'd only had on draught -- Allagash, Erdinger, Weihenstephaner, Liefmans... the prices are much better here than at the grocery store, if the grocery store even offers it. The subterranean parking is accessed off Franklin St., surprisingly ample considering it's LA. The staff is super friendly and personable, welcoming me as soon as I walked in the door and greeting me with small talk at the check-out. As I approached the register, the cashier looked approvingly at my selection and remarked "Cool to see a girl drinking the strong stuff." (I didn't have the heart to tell him that the hefes were for my BF and the fruity lambics were mine...) I will definitely be making my BevMo! runs here from now on. Man -- why didn't I go here in college?? It's only a mile or so farther from UCLA than the West LA location! Last thing -- they also do tastings on Friday afternoons now :) I didn't get to check it out but it seems they used to do it and only recently brought it back. Cheers! read more

Didn't see any deals that blew my mind. Just another megastore full of the same stuff I can get at smaller, local stores. With Albertson's, Ralph's, Whole Foods, Sainsbury Market, King's Liquor, Jerry's Liquor, Wine Expo and a million other places in walking distance, I don't see how this is a big deal. read more

5-star for three reasons: #1 Buy 1 Bottle of Wine, Get 2nd for 5-Cents Sale: This is an AWESOME time to buy some pretty solid wines. When this BevMo opened, there were still 4 more days until the sale ended. I like to buy 4-5 different wines right when the sale starts... if you're a club member, they send you a flyer describing many of wines for sale, so you can decide ahead of time which ones you'd like to try. Anyway, if I find any wines that I love, I make sure to go back again before the sale ends to stock up on those. I always look forward to the 5-cent sale!! #2 - Microbrew and Import Beer Selection: This particular location has a larger selection of beer than many other BevMo stores I've been to. And much larger than you'll find at Whole Foods or any liquor store. They also keep a good stock in the fridge section... including some hard to find 12-packs like Lost Coast Downtown Brown and Great White. Prices are pretty much what you'd expect for the single bottle beers, but you can find some good deals on 6-packs and 12-packs. #3 - Tasting Station: I haven't seen this at any other BevMo store... maybe I've just never noticed them before? They have an area in the back, near the refrigerators, where they host free samplings. I got to try some free Ballast Point beer. Pretty sweet! Overall, I plan to spend too much money at this store, but very happily so. It's both a gift and a curse that they opened on the same block as me! read more

I was leaving later that day and out of all the BevMo's in the area, only this one had any inventory left of this brew. While I was there, one of their friendly workers helped me figure out a few other choice brews that were available to purchase locally. After showing me a couple of choices, I finally decided to also get the Hangar 24 Orange Wheat and the Karl Strauss Two Tortugas Holiday Quadruple Ale. Also loved that they had their own parking lot because it seemed the street parking area was all metered. If I'm ever back in the West LA/Santa Monica area, then I'll definitely pay a visit back at this location. read more

Just adding to the BevMo love that is so definitely earned. We tend to go here to stock up on the good stuff - wine, beer, booze if they have a good deal going or a new liquor to try. I can rarely get out of here without dropping some serious cash, but we get a lot for what we spend. The staff is helpful and cool, the selection is vast, and you can always find a good deal. Beer tastings ($1) every Friday are fun, and you run into the same people, so it's fun to chat while snacking and drinking. Parking is simple and they will give you boxes to take everything out to your car, just ask if they have them on-hand. All-in-all one of my favorite places to shop in LA! read more

As some have said, some locations are good and some not so much. This store is in the not so much category. Always check your order as mistakes are consistent. As was the case again today (about 2 out of 5 orders have a mistake). The clerk pulled 3 750ml bottles instead of 3 1.75L bottles. When I brought it to her attention I got a weird reply with a "fine" I will get them. She placed the 3 bottles on the counter and left. Which made me have to figure out how to get my complete order to the car because the box was too small for my order. The unfortunate part is that nothing will change as most corporations are out of touch with the local stores and frankly don't care or change would already have been made. This place is amazing (insert kid in a candy store analogy or pig in the mud reference)! The staff is incredibly, incredibly helpful. I came in to find lemon flavored simple syrup (my friend was making some obscure cocktails for his pool party) and a staff member greeted me and directed me immediately over to it. I spoke to a different team member to get info on their beer selection and he was equally as cheerful/helpful. The prices are right too. They are right in line (maybe even better) than the sale prices at vons/ralphs, but with a much superior selection. I can't wait for the next 5 cent sale to really get a deal on the vino. They have a smaller selection than the Santa Monica Bevmo, but it is less busy because it is located on Wilshire Blvd. Most people are in too much of a hurry, but they do have a large underground parking lot that they share with the cvs or rite aid next door. We ordered everything for our wedding bar from this location, it was a big deal for us. The staff at this location were wonderful to work with, knowledgeable and helpful. We did a wine tasting with DOUG and he was great, really good suggestions. Went through entire store and helped us find best deals on beer, wine and liquor. TERI was the one that handled the order and arranged delivery and she couldn't have been nicer, very thorough and attentive. Although I love the selection and their prices are usually quite good, the sales person told me that they will match prices to only one company which is "total wine". I pulled up total wine on my iPhone, the price was $20 less ($300 instead of $320 for a 25 yr old scotch), I get to the front and they won't honor it. The store manager comes over and says that she won't match this price on scotch, to which I said since your sales people are saying something else what do you want to do about that, and her comment was sorry I just can't do it. No real apology no empathy, in my opinion not great salesman shit for customer service. With that said it could just be this store manager read more

I bought 6 bottles of wine, but the cashier only scanned 2 and multiplied that cost by 3. I was overcharged by almost $20. If I didn't wonder why the cost was so high and looked at the receipt immediately - BevMo Santa Monica would have ripped me off for $20 dollars. It took another 7 minutes of my time for the purchase to be reversed and processed for the correct amount. All this could have been avoided if the employee would have scanned each item individually.
