Let me tell you about my experience at Bev mo. I was heading to Trader Joe's and remembered a wonderful wine I had at a restaurant in Solvang. I decided to stop real quick at BevMo. There where two employees up front at the register. One with a clip board was talking to the other I walked in and they both came over right away. I asked about the wine and the manager Maddie checked into if they carried the winery. Through her search she said they did not. BUT she went above and beyond for me! She researched the winery gave me the location,hours and phone number and said they take reservations! She went way out of her way to help me! Great place, I think they have the biggest selections of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks/party snacks that I have ever seen. I even found beers sold there that I hadn't had since Germany 24 years ago just for an example. This place is great and they have really cool weekly and holiday deals. After walking around and selecting some drinks I started talking to Betty who was very helpful and recommended some drinks she thought I'd enjoy. They have a wide selection of drinks and other related food and beverages so there is something for everyone there. I absolutely love BevMo! It's my go-to liquor store, as the one by my house (by Tha Crossroads [Blosser & Bunny Street] {and I'm gonna miss everybody!}) has gone downhill in recent years. I always head there after a long day of my trade job (plumber) or after a geocaching session on my days off. Anyways... nothing wrong with the place but the last few times I've gone have been upsetting. I recently have switched to drinking domestic American beers (as they are twist-off caps and I keep losing my bottle openers to bets with my buddies (who are also in the trade industry)). After I purchased my 6 pack of Bud Light (beer of choice), I noticed the caps were already partially twisted off (letting out the carbonation!). This left me with a 6 pack of FLAT BEER! I'm sure you can see the issue here. When I come home from a long day (either my trade job or geocaching) I want an ICE COLD and CRISP 6 pack of AMERICAN beer! This happened not once, not twice, but THREE times (one time was in a San Diego BevMo!). It's almost as if someone is griefing my beer! I'm not sure what could be done from management about this griefing epidemic but something needs to be done! There was also a group of boys on my latest visit in the aisle adjacent to mine (where all the lala drinks are) that were getting near-belligerent arguing over the canned "Jack & Cola" drinks saying it wasn't Coca-Cola used, but rather RC-Cola! I understand their frustration because I HATE RC-Cola, and shame on Jack Daniels for using cheap alternative cola in their products. But I digress, something needs to be done about this griefing before I switch back to non-twist-off-cap beer (Non-American). God Bless America. Yea baby. read more

Went in yesterday. 8-13-22. It was my first time going into BevMo. I went there on the intention to find a red wine bottle as a gift. I don't know anything about wine so I asked an employee for help. I believe his name was Nate. He had dark short hair and wore glasses. He definitely deserves a raise or a bonus! He was super knowledgeable and pointed out many good options to me. Then I asked him what his personal favorite red wine was. I decided to purchase his personal favorite option. He even offered a pretty gold colored wine bag since I had mentioned it was going to be a gift. At the register I was helped by John who was very helpful as well he helped me set up a phone number with BevMo and I received $10 off my purchase. Very good experience please reward the employees they deserve it. read more

We love BevMo! We stop in after a Trader Joe's run (traders is next door) leaving either the cart or bag at the front and grabbing a bottle of tequila (Cabo Wabo is our favorite!) or The Fireman's fave Kona beer. They are always friendly and the store is always clean! read more

Terrible experience, at the hands of the store manager no less. We looked around and selected a couple of six packs. Get to the register and the guy (wearing a name tag that said "Store Manager") asks to see ID. I told him he's pretty terrible judging age, for working at BevMo. He proudly proclaims that they ID everyone under 50. I told him that's a pretty stupid policy, and handed him my ID. He turns around in one motion and swipes it through some reader! Then he insists on seeing my wife's ID as well. We objected. He claimed this is also their policy. We then declined to buy our items, and I told him that I was not happy that he swiped my ID. He asked to SEE it, not to run it through a machine. Despite his assurances that it only reads the birth date, I would be very shocked if it does not feed my DL# into their register to group it with the purchase. And in either case, he did not have my permission and did not adequately inform me of his intent. I've had problems like this at other BevMos before, but never to the point where I refused to continue the sale. It's one thing when there is a law that must be followed. It's completely different when a company decides on its own to go way overboard on their policies, even to the aggravation of their customers and lost sales. It's worse when it is the store manager inflicting all this, with not even a whiff of concern. I'm seriously thinking of never shopping at BevMo again until they start respecting me as an adult. First time shopping here and it was a pleasant experience. Was greeted when I walked in with a hello. Walked all of the aisles and while browsing around staff came up to me a couple of times to see if I needed help finding anything. Prices are better than other places unless those places have good sales. I bought quite a bit of stuff and the cashier packaged it all nicely. I've called the Santa Maria location a few time over the last few months. I call to see if they have something in stock and if they do I go pick it up. Every time I have called the employee seems like I am distracting him and he has better things to do than talk to a potential customer. Acts like I'm stupid for asking the questions. When I enter the store I ask for the person I talked to on the phone and both times the person was gone. I have no issue with that. But someone with good customer service would have told another employee about me coming in. The store needs to learn how to train these minimum wage employees some customer service! read more

BevMo's concept is simple enough: sign up for the club card and get good prices on booze, get noticed on sales and earn points. The problem is that their prices are - even as a member - higher than just about anywhere else you buy booze. RiteAid - great prices. Albertsons - good prices. Even liquor stores seem to me to have better prices. Every time I roll into BevMo I feel like I'm overpaying. That would normally warrant a 1-star rating but they have a great assortment and a friendly staff so that bumps it up on my book. read more

I'm not a professional imbiber so I come here only occasionally to purchase alcohol. They have an excellent selection and the store are shelves are organized. That's all that I could ever ask for in a liquor store. Contrary to other reviews, I've never had an issue with the check-out lines. I've never before shopped for beer like this: 24 oz bottles of micro brewed elixirs from all over the world, with varying percentages of alcohol content, from around the world. The prices are better than than those seen the urine retailer ruining the property values along north Broadway too! The wine selection will further inflate the worst stuffed shirts driving 101 toward Shell Beach or Santa Barbara. There 's aisles of hard stuff and exotic mixers too. This place is legit! Booze, cigars, caviar, and cheeses! Very user friendly layout and premium selections of beer, spirits, and wine. The beer selection is bar-none and they have plenty of rare single malt scotches. Awesome glassware section, too. He checked with his manager and called me back the same day. I really appreciate this kind of service and it saves me from driving all over the place to get an "exclusive" item. The trend in retail these days is to idiot-proof the cash register and the inventory system, so that you can hire anyone with a pulse and pay the bare minimum. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. I went into Bevmo for a few items today, but the 4-pack of Dad's Root Beer that I wanted was out-of-stock. Apparently, it had come in, but whoever stocked that section didn't realize that they sold 4-packs. They had crammed all the bottles into the section where they sell them individually, and had thrown out the cardboard 4-pack holders. Since there is a huge price difference, I asked "Melissa" if she could sell me 4 bottles for the 4-pack price. I pointed out the UPC for the 4-pack, and showed her the overfilled section of individual bottles. She said, "No, because it won't let me sell you a 4-pack if the inventory is zero." That is not true-- they order full cases and stock them both places, so it wouldn't have made a bit of difference to the inventory. Alternatively, if she'd actually believed that, she could have simply rung up the 4 bottles separately and adjusted the price. They do it all the time when an item scans at a different price than the shelf tag. It would have been very simple to adjust the price, if she'd actually WANTED to. That brings me back to my original point-- retail clerks today are unable or unwilling to use simple logic to resolve a MINOR problem in order to accommodate a customer. Since I wasn't going to pay $1.79 per bottle, I not only walked out without the root beer, but I also left without the bottle of Kahlua and the vodka I had intended to buy. They lost a $50 sale and my future business, because she couldn't resolve a minor issue. I'd rather pay a little bit more and shop at a store where the employees try to make sure you get what you came for and leave happy, instead of one where they treat you like an adversary! On another day, a male employee was rude to me because I stuck my credit card in the machine chip first, instead of scanning it. He acted like I should have known that their chip reader wasn't activated yet, although there was no sign or tape over it, at that time. It wasn't what he said, it was the way he said it. Don't Bevmo's employees receive ANY training in customer service?! No wonder every time I go in there, there isn't another customer in sight and the employees are standing around talking. The cumulative effect of poorly trained, rude employees has a huge impact on business over time. read more

Just had the worst experience at bevmo ever!! My wife and I shop at bevmo all over and have never had not one issue ever! We walked in 5 min before 7 pm which is their closing time which we were unaware of and we went in for a few specific items and the staff was very unhelpful due to the time and one staff member continued to count money instead of helping us look for an item. At exactly 7 pm we were asked by Erik to goto the front asap because they were closed. So we looked for about 1.5 min to find the whiskey I drink and during that time I was asked at 7:01pm again to goto the front to check out. Then the lights were shut off by the manager Adam before we even got to the front!!! Keep in mind we exited the store at 7:03pm! So all this took place in about 6 min! Spacious aisles, ginormous selections of everything you could imagine in the world of liquor, very clean, and this famous "5 cent sale" I've heard about and saw signage for, but the bottle of wine I got wasn't "part" of it. The bottle of wine I did get was cheaper than it sells at Vons, Spencer's, or California Fresh. En route to driving to see my boyfriend who lives in the Los Angeles area, there was a particular bottle I was seeking, hoping bev mo would carry it (his favorite, local to us Central Coasters, not available where he resides). Winery brand yes, that flavor, no. Employee offered to check other Bev Mo's I'd be passing in my travels. No luck, but great service that I truly appreciated. read more
