Staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a great beverage selection and not crowded at all. It's kind of a hidden gem.

6/30/2022: Why can't I find organic beer at other grocery stores other than BevMo? I inquired WHEN BevMo will open a store in Placerville , "There are no plans opening at store in Placerville at this time." DRATS!!!! Sadly, I can't buy organic beer at ANY Placerville grocery store . . . I must resort to desperate measures driving ALL THE WAY to Folsom CA for organic beer~Oooof! Not happy but, I gotta make an organic beer run! As it stands, there are only two breweries: Outbreak Brewery permanently closed their doors due to COVID-19 and its Variants; the only microbreweries left in business are Solid Ground and the Brewery located at Enterprise Street in Placerville CA. Still, I want consuming organic brews outside of Placerville so, BevMo is the only alternative purchasing organic beers made in UK and other distant locations around the Planet. read more

BevMo generally has a better selection of items and better service than similar stores in the area, but I must have caught them on an off day. When I walked in, I asked for a couple of specific items and was directed to a clerk who was on the floor. When I approached, he was on his personal cell phone and didn't really acknowledge me for a quick minute. He did hang up his cell and apologize. When I explained what I needed, I was just pointed in a general direction and could both items on my own. Everyone has off days and I am hoping that is what this situation was, as I usually have positive experiences at this store. Overall, the store is clean and the selection of certain items is much better than at other stores. read more

I visited BevMo for some wine and scotch for a special event. The service was superb--the staff helped me select a perfect bottle of wine that paired well with the food. Today I ran into a dilema at this Bevmo store, and want to make sure everyone is aware of it. According to California law, if anyone is buying alcohol at any store, by law you are requied to show your ID. This one store wanted to scan my ID into their system, scanning an ID is so invasive, since they callect (Your full name, your age and your address). When I refused to let them scan it, they told me that they could not sell me all the liquor I had in the cart. I am 60 years old and refuse to have my id scanned for personal, and previous bad experieces. I asked for the manager, and she came out to also rudely deny the purchase. This is something other stores tried in Bay Area some years ago, and due to loss of revenue they changed and made it optional. I also wonder how they would scan out of state ids or passports? I am dissapointed that I wont be shopping at Bev mo anymore, but I am also glad that we have other options near by, Total wine, where they dont force you to scan your Ids. It was a total waste of my time, and perhaps they should have a big sign at the entrance saying "We wont sell to you if we dont scan your ID" read more

not the best customer service. Was not greeted when walking in, there were two employees in the front. while looking around no one asked if we needed help. by the time it was time to pay. My girlfriend wanted to know where the bathroom. the cashier who was not so friendly said "in the corner" with no specification which corner of the building. Then quickly asked for my ID (I'm the one purchasing the products) and my girlfriends. I didn't know they had to check everyone's ID that was in the party. Stop by this Folsom location to pick up wine on my way back to Sac. It was after 10 p.m. so I was the only person in there. One co-worker helped me find a Barbara that I was searching for. The checkout person was very unfriendly and didn't offer me any coupon options for their app that continuously doesn't work. I'm very disappointed at the lack of coupons that BevMo has not been giving during the holiday season. Only the $10 off 75 not the $10 off 50. That is just awful during the holidays especially on how much I spend. read more

Used to shop here as it was the only game in town. The a better shop came along up Bidwell. Was so glad because this place was going downhill. The manager argued with me about a product. "I order everything in this store and we do not carry that..." Take him to the empty shelf where there was a bar code and price tag. response... "well we don't have any..." Don't go to the store if you want any actual help. Know what you're going into find and where it is because no one will help you find it. New to the area first time in this store and I walk the wrong way. I don't know if that put the flag on my back or if it was just good customer service. I got approached 3-4 different times so that makes me feel like I was being watched. Maybe not but I did get that feeling. Everybody was very helpful and I ended up leaving with a recommendation from a very nice employee who's name I cannot remember to save my life. Not quite sure why there are so many mixed reviews about this place. I had a good experience, personally. I spent some time shopping here recently. The employees greeted me, asked if I needed any help, and left me alone to browse. When I finally did need help, both of the employees I flagged down were quick to respond and cordial. Product selection was good, though I couldn't find a specific type of booze I was after (they don't carry anything from Armenia, I suppose). But there were alternatives, and lots of them. If you know what you're after and don't mind a little browsing, BevMo is a good choice. read more

My husband, aunt and I were here the other week to grab some wines for a party we were having. My aunt was looking for some good white wine to share with her friends (and she found them). I like that we were greeted promptly when we arrived. They have my favorite wine from France in stock (Ruinart) and I must say that I liked that the store was well stocked and clean. I can't speak to the quality of wines that they provide (lots of assortments and they had the points to match the wines being sold. I really liked their buy one get the second one for 5 cents. That seemed like a good deal. This place also carries other things including snacks, mixers, tools, cheese and more. The bathroom is towards the back right. Decent place. read more

Beer and wine and spirits, oh my! This BevMo has lots of things to drink and a few things to smoke if that's your favorite thing. I was a bit sad that they didn't have a larger selection of big bottles of wine. Slim pickin' with a few Barefoot wines and only one of each left haphazardly on a shelf. My store attendant wasn't very helpful when I attempted quick math to see if I could get some more variety with smaller bottles and the same cost. I also tried to see if she had any other bottles stored up top or down low and she was definitely not interested in helping with that. They sent us on our way without a tap for the keg! Sure, we should have remembered, but it would have been most helpful if our cashier could have piped up with a reminder. There was even a run back in for forgotten ice - you'd think that would have been the perfect time to mention "forget anything else?" I was also annoyed with their return policy. If you're returning a keg for someone else be warned: the keg deposit can only go back on the original card if you have it with you during return! No problem, I thought, I'll just get cash. Of course he didn't have the cash available in the drawer to do that. I expected more from a store devoted to adult bevies! read more

What a waste of time! Go down the street to Total Wine instead of dealing with power-hungry sales associates. Are you ready for a trip? Check this out: My partner was with my friend and I while we were shopping. She was 20, turning 21 in a month or so. She purchased hibiscus flowers as a gift for me (an ingredient in desserts and salads, and is literally a flower), while I was separately purchasing non-alcoholic drink mix. Jeff, this guy from Oregon (and it shows) actually wouldn't sell it to her at first, and then got in her face and said, "YOU HAVE TO PROMISE ME YOU WON'T DRINK TONIGHT. PROMISE ME." Okay bro, back off. The manager came out and actually rolled his eyes at the guy and told him to just sell her the flowers. She told him she couldn't drink if she wanted to, she was flying out to Florida the next day and he said, "HA. LIKE PEOPLE FROM FLORIDA DON'T DRINK!" Okay Jeff, you need to get your head on straight. You are not the underage drinking police, and she doesn't have to promise you jack-all. We boogied out of that store in a hurry because that was creepy. Total Wine opened shortly after, thank god. Why does Bev Mo need to scan my ID to sell me beer? Bev Mo offers no reasonable explanation for this practice. All the manager can say is "its our policy". Well when policy overrides common sense I have a problem with that. They offer no explanation about the software used to scan your id and what is being stored. They don't tell you how the software verifies your id or what data base it accesses to do it. This policy cost them a customer! read more

I was going to buy a case of beer in the same shopping center to give to a guy for doing some work for me. I saw the BevMo sign and thought it would be faster. Well I was completely mistaken! I knew what kind of beer I wanted; however there was no price marked. I asked a kid that was working there and he couldn't tell me. So I take my case to the cash register. The cashier opened the case and started scanning each six-pack individually! I asked what are you doing; the UPC code for the case is on the outside of the box. Oh, I have to make sure all of the contents are the same. WTH??? So she tells me some outrageous price. I tell her that is not right, you are charging me for four separate six-packs when I am buying one case. I was told that is how they do it! I have been buying cases of beer for twice as many years as she is old and have never heard of such a thing! You might as well scan all 24 bottles and charge people by the bottle! Wait a minute, Alex, you mean you didn't get to enjoy what you paid for? Exactly! Refreshment at our wedding was nearly RUINED- but fortunately we stocked up on wine and champaign. I complained to the store the day after, and was informed that they "don't do" credits on returns. I'm like, really- even when bullshit like this is your fault!? I called a regional manager who I had to bug way to hard to get the number for - TWICE - and never got a return call. Long story short: I'm never going to BevMo again. Chris was good, but BevMo? On a visit to this BevMo on 4/29/17, I bought 7 items. One item was a 750ltr bottle of Bacardi Rum Gold. When I got home, I noticed that the seal to the rum bottle was previously opened (seal broken) and that it appears that 1 or 2 oz were missing from it. I called the store and spoke with someone named Zack. After informing him of the situation, he seemed puzzled. He asked me if I was sure it was opened. I let him know that I didn't use it, that I just left the store 10 minutes ago. I could tell by his voice that he didn't believe me. Actually, he sounded like I was trying to take advantage of the situation. I still have the receipt. He told me to bring the item back along with the proof of purchase. But, he still didn't sound convinced. I have not, nor, will ever return to a Bevmo. I felt so violated and accused. I've been a Bevmo Membership for over 10 years. No more. There is a Total Wine store just 2 blocks from them. They are helpful and professional. This particular BevMo has ended my business. Customer Service is not a part of their primary concerns. I've always been a big fan of Total Wine so I don't go to BevMo unless absoultely necessary. Today's visit has changed my mind. I went in with the task of finding Silver Oak Napa Cab. It's of course in one of those protected plexy glass cases and the spot where it should be is empty. As I turned to put back the other bottles I had a staff member stopped to check on me. He was so friendly and helped me track down another location that had the wine. Since he was so friendly and helpful I figured why not, I'll buy it here even though I need to go to another location which awarded their store a $185 purchase. Gotta love shopping on the company card! The store was very clean and orderly. Finding a type of wine was easy as the aisle's were clearly marked as well as banners above the racks in the aisles themselves. They had plenty to choose from ranging from low end to high end. The liquor was no less impressive and mixers galore. Cards, gift-wrap and bags a-plenty. read more

I came in to get a 5 gallon keg. Picking out the keg went well enough despite the bad attitude from the lady at the front counter. I asked what kegs they had available and she rolled her eyes and said something rude about asking a grocery store what kind of food they have available. After paying for the 5 gallon keg I picked it up and started walking out of the store. The cashier started screaming at me "SIR! EXCUSE ME SIR!! JASON WILL HELP YOU WITH THAT!!!" I said I could carry it out to the car myself (its a 5-gallon keg, it weighs about 20 lbs). She told me that was NOT acceptable and I NEED to wait for Jason (who was nowhere in sight). After several minutes of waiting by the door this guy 30-40 years older than me comes out and doesn't even pick the keg up right!! I was going to lift with my legs but NO WAY BevMo could let me do that - I had to wait 10 minutes for this guy to come strain to lift it while bending his lower back, all the while being screamed at by the cashier for having the audacity to try and walk out of the store with the item I just purchased. First time and last time at this BevMo EVER. read more

We were just going to stop in and pick up a scotch that we were dying to try, but the incredibly helpful staff pointed out that some of our favorite wines were on a once-in-a-lifetime sale. Not only were they very patient, as we kept the store open 15 minutes after closing, but they also helped us load the car with the two cases of wine that we bought. This bevmo is horrible. Their beer selection is smaller than most and their service is not prompt or friendly. Also, their "bevmo club card" prices are what other places charge for their normal price. As a 23 year old, I hate going in here. I feel like I am always being followed around the store and an employee is constantly keeping an eye on me. Definite age profiling. My husband has a penchant for craft beers and this is one of the places I shop to stock the beer fridge. They carry 4 & 6-packs, cases and single bottles of most anything you can think of. I've also been known to peruse the wine selection for the in-laws and the Tres Leches is fantastic to add to hot chocolate on cold winter nights :) :) Get a free BevMo card - it will help to save a few dollars on your next visit. read more
