This place has good customer service if you arrive on a weekday and you are one of three people in the store. I went here Saturday looking for a specific microbrew.. I didn't see it on the shelf. I looked around the store for assistance and the only one present was the cashier who was busy. I asked him for assistance and he told me to go wait in the beer aisle and he would send someone to assist me. After waiting 5 minutes, I looked around the store. The person who was to assist me was unpacking wine boxes and acted like they were too busy to offer help. I went across the street to Vons and found my microbrew there, This BevMo store in Eastlake needs more help. They are understaffed and have poor customer service skills. read more

BevMo "sniffs in" at about 3.5 stars whereas Total Wine (Orange County chain) is about 4.5 stars. BevMo simply doesn't offer the selection (especially on wine) in any form of booze. They do have a pretty nice amount of mini liquor/liqueur bottles but again diverse is the issue here. Too much of one particular type of booze but not enough brand or type variation. The STAFF are friendly and some are knowledgeable. Again, Total Wine supports education more it seems. Another con is that their pricing is notably higher than Total Wine. If Total Wine were to infiltrate this city BevMo would feel the hit. read more

Excellent go-to place for some cheap fun to bring home! I'm always down to save a couple bucks if I can just drink at home rather than spend money at a bar and worry about a DD. I'm glad I finally got to visit a BevMo! My boyfriend and I decided to come in and check it out because we felt like having wine that night, luckily we came in during their sale. Which was a select few wines that was buy one get the second for .5 and you could mix and match. We probably stayed in the store for nearly an hour because we kept going back and forth from their liquor selection to their wine. They've got a lot to choose from. BevMo is one of the few chains that I fully support because of what it is - a specialty liquor store. I'm always eager to try new alcoholic drinks, whatever the form, in moderation. This is my go-to stop if I need to pick out a drink for a party. Thank goodness that they were able to build one so that I don't have to drive up to Mission Valley. PROS 1) EXCELLENT selection of the main six spirits: brandy, gin, rum, whisk(e)y, tequila and vodka. I was able to find reposado and anejo tequilas that weren't Patron, a good-quality Russian vodka (Russian Standard) used in a well-known restaurant's cocktail drinks and ZUBROWKA (Polish Bison Grass vodka). Prices do vary based on the brand, so do your research before you go. 2) EXCELLENT selection of liqueurs. 3) A wide variety of craft beers. Good selection of the SD Big 3 (Stone/Karl Strauss/Ballast Point) but they also offer beers from lesser-known breweries such as AleSmith and Manzanita. I also find that the staff are very knowledgeable with their beers. 4) For a few dollars you can do a tasting of several beers or wines. When they do this varies. 5) Really cute bottles containing sample sizes of the most common spirits, equivalent to one serving. When empty they make quite a collection. CON Although they have a good wine selection, I would only buy wine here if I'm in a pinch. I usually like to get wines elsewhere, such as Trader Joe's (usually can find good wine at a cheaper prices) or specialty wine places such as Wine Steals or Mosaic Wine Bar. The wine selection seems a bit too generic for my taste, and I'm particular about the type of wine I bring to events. read more

This BevMo has the worst selection of beer than any of the ones I have seen in San Diego County and trust me; I have been to a lot of BevMo's in SD. What irked me the most about this particular BevMo was how a young employee acted as if he knew more about beer than me (dead wrong buddy maybe within a few more years could you even possibly catch up to my knowledge of beer). It didn't really insult me it just really irked me, but its fun sometimes trolling people who think they know everything.The kid didn't even look 21 but he would not stop asking me questions and making suggestions until I finally had to let him know I didn't need his help and I could find beer on my own. He then started asking more questions of what kind of beer I liked and so forth and I just stared at him until he got the hint to walk away. I have been here three times now and not a single beer for sale on the shelves or cooler has impressed me and I would rather waste my gas driving to La Mesa than waste my gas driving to Eastlake and get this? I live in the South Bay. Better off visiting the Sprout's or Trader Joe's up the street they have better selection. This BevMo will only be useful if I need spirits or a keg. read more

Not the best or biggest BevMo in the San Diego area, but there's a decent selection of wine, liquor, and beer to choose from. If you're in the Eastlake area and don't want to drive to far this BevMo is a solid option. If not, the La Mesa location is a lot better. read more

I have been very disappointed with the customer service at this BevMo for the past couple of years. The store associates have been less than polite and very unhelpful. I'm someone who gives others the benefit of the doubt; however, this has been an ongoing issue and yesterday's experience was the last straw for me. Yesterday, I made an online pick-up order. When I came to the store to pick up my order, I was very unclear with WHERE in the store I could pick it up. I asked the woman or the "manager" who was managing customer traffic (due to the pandemic) where I could pick up my order. She told me "straight ahead." I looked around the store and couldn't find the area. The only place that gave me a clue was a small area in the front, far-south part of the store. There was a sign on a plastic shield that said "Online Pick up Here." However, the person behind that shield wasn't handing out orders. So I decided to wait in line. An associate named Steven waited on me. I asked him about where I could pick up my order and he said that he could help me. He was initially helpful but then my order was wrong and it was my mistake. It turned out that I had ordered the wrong product with a similar name of the product I was looking for. When I had ordered the product online I couldn't tell that I ordered the wrong thing. There was no information about or a picture of the product. When I realized I made a mistake, I apologized and asked if there was a way I could fix my order. Steven was very unfriendly and unhelpful. He had to call the manager over. The manager told me that they didn't have the product I was looking for. I asked the manager if I could replace the product with something else and she said I could. After I chose another alcoholic beverage, I waited in line. Steven waited on me again. When I came to register, Steven didn't even acknowledge me. Instead, he gave me the stink eye and called for the manager to reverse the order. The manager couldn't help at the moment so she sent another associate over to help. I wish I got the associate's name because this guy was a lot more helpful. I wished that I had looked at his name tag, so I could praise him for his customer service (hence is why I'm giving this place 2 stars rather than 1 star). His name wasn't on the receipt either. Instead, a person named "Melissa" was on it. However, this associate was helpful and understanding. Although my problem was fixed, I do have a problem with the management and customer service at this BevMo. First, there needs to be a clear marked area for Online Pick Up. We are currently in a pandemic and many people are going to want to order online. Even if there has been area marked for pick up, staff needs to more specific about that area. Saying that the area is "straight area" without there being an area straight ahead DOES NOT help, which goes into my second point about my problem with customer service. Yesterday wasn't the first time I have gotten poor customer service; however, it was the last straw for me. I shouldn't have to feel embarrassed because of a mistake that I made and owned up to. Store staff should be able to work with their customers to fix a problem rather than make them feel bad. I won't be coming to this location anymore. I would give it 5 stars BUT other reviewers have changed my mind - apparently their beer selection isn't as great and although I have yet to notice this (considering I buy mostly wines), I will still rate fairly. My daughter and I had went for the first and last time here in Eastlake Bevmo! The customer service absolutely sucks here!!! We had just walked in and my daughter was looking at the cute mini bottles and shots section. The cashier didn't greet us until after a couple of minutes later and then with a sarcastic, accusational tone, asked if we needed any help. We noticed her tone but we didn't let it bother us and answered her with "we're just looking." The store carried twisted shots in various flavors, but I didn't see "buttery nipples" so I decided to ask if they had it. I went up to the same girl who was at the register and asked her if they carried it there. Before I could finish my sentence, she cut me off with an attitude saying, "noooo, you have to make that yourself." I told her there is a shot like that and I had bought it before. However she interrupted me again by saying "not here at Bevmo." I just walked away at that point because i did not want to deal with such awful customer service. Right after i had walked away, another employee came up to her and they started talking about a customer that broke a bottle by the store entrance. "I had to let her grab another one," she said annoyed. I get that maybe she had a bad day, but NEVER take out your fustrations on a customer. We were so excited to go to this Bevmo for the first time and ended up having such a bad experience due to the cashier's terrible customer service! Gars, Wines, Single Malts, what more could a guy ask for? Well I'm so l glad you asked, how about a better selection of wines [imports], better [more competitive] prices and a more knowledgeable [and friendlier] staff for starters. Please don't fall for the Wilfred Wong [he works for Bevmo] 90 point wonders either, most of which are wines on the so-called nickel sale. Bevmo has loads of private label juice which they source from a variety of places. Bulk left-over, declassified wines, similar to the Cameron Hughes dealio. Horrible dehumanizing experience at BevMo! The cashier named Leona had an attitude and was extremely rude to me for absolutely no reason. She did not allow me to sign up for their membership program in the store. Instead of pointed me to a sign and said call the number. Only after asking to speak with the manager was I able to sign up in-store. She was already extremely rude to just me. When I asked to speak with the manager she looked at me like she wanted to fight me, rolled her eyes, and walked away. I am an African American male and I cannot for the life of me think of what I could have possibly done to deserve this type of treatment from a cashier. Treating everyone the same in your store is the very least your employees can do. I was not treated like everyone else and I want to know why. This is horrible! Leona needs training and spiritual guidance. After looking at reviews here on yelp it seems that this location has a problem with rude staff. 3.5 stars. It's a decent BevMo, about par for the course, not bad for a chain. Don't buy cigars here -- stick with a cigar shop for that. I think it's time to reorganize the beer selection a bit -- separate the sell-outs (Ballast Point, Lagunitas, Elysium, etc) from the real craft brews so novice buyers know what they are actually buying. That, or get rid of the sell-outs and bring in some more local brews. There are plenty of good local brewers that deserve to have their product sold here. read more

Very clean easy to find things location. The prices are the same as any other location, but the people who work there are very friendly and ready to help you find anything. The selections they make for their 5 cent wine sales are normally very good tasting wines. However, I remember being able to buy two different wines that were the same price to get the 5 cent sale but now you have to buy two of the same kind. :( Kind of a bummer but since I love the brand "Powder Keg", I don't complain. Definitely recommend that brand to anyone looking for a great tasting wine that is almost always on the 5 cent wine sale if you look on the shelves for it! read more

We live in San Diego, where you can throw a rock and hit a brewery. This location has more wine and hard liquor that craft beer. The cooler section is pretty sad too.
