Back Patio Cellars feels like you've just meandered into Frank & Jen's backyard, and they invite you to stay awhile to try some cider/wine. This is definitely their passion project, and it shows in how they talk about their ciders/wine and enjoy sharing with people. It's located in a business park where they have what seems like a traditional tasting room with a few tables, a "living room" with comfortable seats and a couch surrounded by their barrels, and a "patio" outside with covered seating. We opted for a cider tasting, and as someone who was a little wary, because I don't have much of a sweet tooth, I was so excited to hear that their style is on the drier side. These hard ciders are dangerously good... refreshing, delicately flavored, and you wouldn't even know that they're packed with a high ABV. We tried the Apple, Black Berry Pie, Golden Kiwi, Guava, Blood Orange, and Key Lime. My favorite was the guava and my SO's was the Black Berry Pie. These are perfect for warm weather, and you can even take cans or growlers to go! As for food, there are some snacks available for purchase, and folks are welcome to bring their own snacks (uh, charcuterie plate, anyone?) except when there's a food truck. Jen mentioned that they don't have a cider club just yet, but they do have a wine club. We're definitely planning on coming back for a wine tasting very soon, see ya there!

Hidden within a business park, this boutique winery and cider house offers something for everyone. They have a cute tasting room, and of course a "back patio" area, but we preferred the comfy "living room" seating area inside the barrel room (I love a nice barrel room). One minor complaint is that they don't have a printed tasting list, or even a comprehensive list of their wines/prices. WINES: We were able to try a '21 Albarino, a '19 Viognier, a '20 Rosé of Granache, a '19 carbonic Cabernet Sauvignon, a '20 Syrah, and a '16 Cab Sauv. from Lodi. We loved the two whites, and the Syrah and Lodi Cab, taking home several bottles. My mother-in-law had a glass of their Cinnabon cider, which was quite nice. They had nine flavors of cider on tap the day of our visit. No food available, other than bags of chips, but feel free to bring your own munchies and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and tasty wines/ciders! Overall, we had a nice experience getting to know Jen & Frank and trying their wines. IMO, Back Patio Cellars is definitely worth a visit.

My wife and I shared the wedge salad to start ($17). Huge portion and loaded with the typical wedge goodies. Delish! I ordered the salmon pasta special for my entree ($45). Also a huge portion loaded with large shrimp, lots of salmon, olives, tomato, and more with a delicious red sauce. Fantastic dish. And way too much to eat at one sitting (reheated pasta dish for dinner tomorrow!). My wife had the chicken Toscana ($35). Grilled chicken on a pasta with marinara and cream sauce. Excellent! There were many wines to choose from, even after the flight it was a few more glasses of various blancs, one rose really stood out and of course that little diva, pinot noir. (I stick to CA wines these days since the industry has been strained). The Wine Closet is a very nice place to relax, select and enjoy wine and good food. You can order to be served any way you want (M.L., Camarillo said in an earlier post:..."everything here is customizable!" I will definitely be back to The Wine Closet-well worth it.

Are we the only ones who feel like the vibe at Wine Closet has changed?…read more We're fairly new customers and had a couple of really great experiences in the beginning. There was a bartender who had been there for a long time, and she made the place feel welcoming and gave it that community feel we really liked. Unfortunately, our last three visits have felt very different. The younger bartender we've had recently has made us feel more like we're inconveniencing her by being there. She seems to spend more time talking with the kitchen staff than engaging with the customers at the bar, and that welcoming atmosphere just hasn't been there. It's disappointing because we really wanted Wine Closet to become part of our regular "Parents' Night Out" rotation, but at this point, we'll probably be looking elsewhere.

However, their food was good. We had multiple salads. The pesto chicken was good, we also had the barbecue chicken, bacon salad, but without the bacon. It came with a bacon and I asked Alex and they ended up making a new one without the bacon, which was really good. I have to say this is my favorite one.
