Dr. Gorcey is a devoted master endocrinologist, who always seems to be on the cutting edge of his field, using the newest medical advancements, and eliminating reasons for patients to be nervous about having the procedures done. His staff exudes the same upbeat/positive attitude that resides in him. Each staff member appears to understand the importance their own roles in the entire process and to the patient. Each step, from signing in through recovery was well coordinated and went amazingly smooth. It is so good (and not so common in my experience) to see a medical staff that is so well trained, operates in a teamwork mentality, and is happy to be doing what they are doing. All of this (and the new same day 2-hour prep!) made for another very positive experience for me as a patient.

Basically, you could choose btwn a few options... not pressure, decide which you're most comfortable with... and we go from there. In my case, I wanted definitive answers and chose to have an endoscopy. That could not have gone easier/smoother. At the time, Dr Shah was VERY pregnant and a week from maternity leave. Yet, despite what could've been a difficult time for her to work comfortably, she was energetic, empathetic, and thorough. I hope the childbirth goes, or went, smoothly; and, that she is able to return to seeing patients when she decides the time is right. Why? She's an excellent physician!

My mom's mind world not be a marshmallow right now. Case manager for after hospital care are arrogant uncompassionate zombies. They speak down to you as if you should know medical term. They give you a call in the morning to say your mother is being discharged find a place. And have the audacity to arrange medical transport that costs a fortune, without your knowledge and you have no other way to transport. Bayshore MERIDIANs health care is the sadest medical system going.

From the point of admission through surgical preparation The Nursing staff, support personnel, and anyone who dealt with me were pleasant, caring, and concerned for my comfort, and all of my needs were addressed with a smile. The physical Therapists were very cheerful and extremely encouraging of my efforts right from the start. The enviornment at Bayshore was clean, quiet and peaceful, with minimal intrusions on my sleep or quiet time. The food was good and was promptly and cheerfully delivered. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at Bayshore.

Those of us who have lived long enough to arrive at the point where we have to submit to medical…read moretests that literally leave us with our pants down and our bottoms up, know the indignities and discomfort of that most anxiety provoking procedure - the colonoscopy. Little can be done to make the preparation and actual event more palatable, but at least it can be simplified and made more humane with understanding of the emotional aspects of the test, and the physical challenges associated with drinking copious amounts of vile tasting fluids, a mandatory clear liquid diet for 36 hours before the operation, and the totally unpleasant process of emptying the lower gastrointestinal tract. Ugh! Gastroenterology Group at St. Mary Medical Center does it as well as possible. They invite you to their office weeks in advance to review the process in detail. Many pages of easy to understand instructions are provided. They record insurance information, and even offer samples of the preparation meds if the patient lacks coverage for this cost. On the designated day, when the effect of starvation and voiding is at max effect, their staff is courteous and compassionate in getting the patient ready for general anesthesia and the procedure itself. Everyone was skilled, patient and trained in low key interaction. From getting into those damn surgical gowns, to setting the intravenous lines in the arm, to nestling the pillow comfortably under the head/neck as you fall asleep, to the gentle wake up back in your personal space with juice and crackers, the flow is smooth and relaxed. That Dr. Barash advised I would likely have to return in five years for another scope almost seemed an afterthought.

I was told that the next appoint was in mid November. I told the receptionist that I really did not feel well and needed it sooner. There was nothing she could do. I am so disgusted, if I'm calling to come in for other than a physical, it means that I am really sick. What kind of Doctor can not fit in sick patients. I am very disappointed and no longer recommend this office. I asked to have my records, I was told when I find a new Dr. I will need to sign a release. So insensitive and uncaring. I told her after weighing me to not tell me my weight since I have body image issues and don't like to focus on my weight number since it can be upsetting for me. That was the first sign of disrespect. Then she starts mocking my beliefs and morals that are linked to my diet. I tell her I suffer from anemia. She acts like she doesn't believe me and "how could I know that" my previous doctor diagnosed me with it? She then tells me that I do have it and starts telling me I'm malnourished. I asked her for advice on what to eat and she just starts listing things that I already eat. I tell her I'm depressed, have trouble sleeping and she offers no help other than "try Prozac" with a laugh. She then says I'm social and have friends so I'm fine. Completely disrespectful. She asked me if I was sexually active and before I could answer she just said no and writes that down. I tried to explain that wasn't the case but she didn't believe me? Or didn't take it seriously? It was so uncomfortable. I had a lot of concerns and questions about my health and when I tried to ask she cuts me off and tells me "I have other patients" and ended the appointment. What the hell. Don't go to her. My family sees other doctors there and are fine but don't go to Barbara.
