Another Betty Rae's location that is nearby. Great for my taste buds. Terrible for my waistline and wallet. This was my first time at this particular location but I'm not new to Betty Rae's delicious ice cream. The space is on the smaller side but there are a few seating options inside. I didn't notice if they have an outdoor space but I'm pretty sure they didn't. The two individuals working were friendly and nice. I thought this was the test kitchen location but I didn't notice any test flavors or differences from other locations. I honestly felt like they have less options than the River Market location. But they still had several options and most of the staple flavors. On this visit I went with a double scoop-one carrot cake and the other goat cheese, apricot, and walnut. I went with a cup but they also have waffle cones and bowls. Size and flavor were both great. Exactly what I expect from Betty Rae's. I highly recommend checking out any Betty Rae's location but if you're in the Merriam area, definitely check them out! I'll be sure to return. read more

I finally got to try Betty Rae's Ice Cream after snagging a coupon at the Yelp Local Shops of Horror event, and overall it was a really good stop, just not quite a wow experience for me. There is easy parking out front with plenty of spaces. Cute signage and front of store view. The ice cream itself was definitely good. We finished every last bite, which says a lot. Flavors were solid and satisfying, but for the price point I was expecting something a little more memorable or unique. It felt like great ice cream, just not "this is worth the splurge in cost every time" great. The shop itself was pretty minimal and felt a little bare, nothing super cozy or standout in terms of atmosphere aside from the counter. Not a dealbreaker, just didn't add to the experience. Staff were kind, but a bit elusive. Not super warm or welcoming, more like slightly awkward energy. Again, not bad, just not the kind of place where you feel super taken care of esp with comfort food, it was noticeable. They do offer Lactaid packets at checkout, which I genuinely appreciate as an inclusive option. That said, they're priced at 50 cents each, which felt a bit high for something that helps people be able to enjoy the ice cream in the first place. The coupon I brought helped a little with the price, but overall it still feels on the higher side for what you get. Overall: really good ice cream and I'm glad I tried it, just a few things that kept it from feeling like a full 5-star experience for me. I've only been to this Betty Rae's twice, and both times were underwhelming. The first time was in the summer and there were a LOT of flies and fruit flies in the shop and around the ice cream. And the employees seemed pretty inexperienced and unsure how to build rapport with customers. That part was much the same this second time. I was there's for the special promotion "fill your Stanley cup with four dips for $10." It didn't seem like they had as good of an assortment and variety in the flavors as I'm used to seeing at the original store Brookside/Waldo, which was disappointing. It's been a while since I've been in the Brookside store but I don't remember the ice cream being as soft and melting as quickly as at the Miriam store. I probably won't return to this store even though it's on my way home, in part because it's more fun to feel like a welcome and valued customer. The employees weren't rude or anything like that...they just weren't engaging. And I was surprised they didn't have any idea why a promotion with Stanley cups was happening. read more

I stopped in with my toddler grandson to try this ice cream place for the first time. We were the only ones in the shop at the time. The service was good and friendly. The ice cream shop was clean and bright. I chose a kid size scoop for my toddler grandson of vanilla. I chose a double scoop for myself, one being salted caramel and the other being brown sugar pecan. The brown sugar pecan is absolutely addicting! The flavors were very good of all of the ice cream. THE BEST ICE CREAM. If you have not experienced Betty Rae's you are certainly missing out. A favorite for my wife and I, we were elated to find out about the new location closer to our home in Shawnee (she cried). This location serves as a test kitchen to try out new flavors, though I was happy to see some of their classic flavors are at this location as well. S'mores is probably my favorite flavor, but you've gotta try the Joe's BBQ flavor. It's a trip. The space is fairly small and you may experience a long line given the new excitement since the 7/11 opening, just a heads up. Worth the wait! read more

Finally! The best ice cream in town is only 5 minutes away from our house. I cannot tell you how excited I was when I saw the sign went up. Been patiently waiting for opening day. On opening day, we came by, not once but TWICE! The line wrapped around the building so we decided to wait for the busiest to slow down a bit. We finally came by again today. New location alert !! My son and I visited this location on the grand opening day ! I grabbed my normal flavor selections, but was shocked to see a "Joe's BBQ" burnt end flavor . It's a great choice for someone who really loves the taste of BBQ. The inside is small with no seating outdoors . We picked up ice cream this evening to take home. We were appalled at the size of a single scoop for the price. The single scoop given was less than what should be a kiddie scoop. When we went to eat the ice cream it had a ton of ice crystals and ice pieces in it. It was as though the ice cream was scraped right off the top of the ice cream that had been sitting for a while and melted and refrozen. We will not be returning. Have not had this experience at other locations. We tried calling to speak to a manager and no one answers the phone, nor is a voicemail set up. read more

Came to this location after leaving Home Depot across the street for a sweet snack. The shop was pretty crowded which was a good sign. Some of the ice cream options weren't replenished and others looked quite melted, perhaps due to being close to closing time. It was 8pm...store closes at 9 on Sundays. I got the lavender honey ice cream as well as a scoop of the carrot cake. It was pretty good and hit the spot. Hope to try the Reese's next time since it wasn't on display today. read more

Stopped in at BR's tonight and we were sorely disappointed. We LOVE BR's ice creams and their flavors, but tonight the service was a TOTAL miss. Two girls were behind the counter, on light haired and one dark haired. The latter just seemed sad, flustered, and not out going and gave me about 1/3 the size of a usual BR's scoop. The light haired girl helped my wife who gave her a usual BR scoop (about 2/3-3/4 of their plastic cups. My 2nd scoop was a more typical size. My wife commented on my first scoop and neither girl offered to fix it. Once I ate my first scoop, my wife took the cup back up to the counter and showed them. The light haired girl apologized and gave me more ice cream. Not sure if it was just a bad night, though this is NOT usual BR service so we had to say something. Over priced!!! 6.50$ for 2 melon spoon size scoops! Ice cream was decent, nothing special other than a few foo foo flavors like lavender or goat cheese. We have always loved Betty Rae's and their ice cream never fails to satisfy! This is a newer location and we were excited to try! The staff handled an awkward, angry customer dispute very well in the store. The customer continued to irrationally lay into the workers but they kept a professional demeanor.
