I got my Reception desk from these guys. They sell liquidated furniture AND they can purchase from catalogs. Only thing is... My desk came in and was installed 3 weeks ago, with the exception of one piece of table top... so my desk has been incomplete for 3 weeks, and we are still awaiting the backordered part. I've been working with Tracy regarding this table top portion, and she's sweet. she updates me via email or phone every couple of days... so frustrating, but at least she is keeping in touch with me. read more

To provide some context, I am a small business owner that was in the process of setting up my new office. I was working with another furniture provider and ran into some financing problems that killed that deal. My office manager was given the responsiblity of finding another office furniture vendor that could help us. My office manager contacted Better Source and worked with one of their sales reps. We basically sent them the exact furniture specs of what we were going to purchase from the previous provider so that she could price it through their channels. Based on their pricing we decided to go with another provider for the 5 staff workstations, but wanted to purchase the executive office and conference room furniture through Better Source. We requested revised quotes from Better Source for our new needs, but never received a response. After multiple follow-ups to the sales representative, we decided to call the owner directly to get assitance. The owner then explained that he instructed his sales rep to stop responding to us. His reasoning is that it was unfair for us to shop the package around to other providers since his sales representative did all the work?!?!!? ALL THE WORK?!?!!? We sent an inventory of all the pieces that we needed. The sales rep just had to look up the items in the catalog and add the prices up in an excel spreadsheet. The rep did not come out to look at the office and make any professional recommendations. She didn't take any measurements or add any value to my decision making process. Unfortunately, I was under tight time constraints and Better Source was my only alternative for the executive office and conference room furniture. I decided i would just walk down to their store, begrudginly order what I needed and be done with them. When I placed my order, I asked if they could guaranteed delivery by a specific date (tight time constraints). I was told that they would confirm the delivery date the next business day and if they could not meet the guarantee I could cancel my order at no expense. I had to call in the next business day and they called in to confirm delivery on my specific date. My delivery date was the Monday after Thanksgiving so I called the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to confirm. I asked the scheduler if I was confirmed for Monday to which she exlaimed "Monday?" She riffled through some papers and informed me that my delivery was scheduled for Tuesday. Her explanation was that the items won't be coming off the truck until Monday so she cannot schedule a delivery/install for Monday until the items come off the truck (so much for the guarantee that I received when I purchased). Her alternative was that she could schedule something after hours on Monday. When Monday came, they actually came through and had the desk delivered and installed in my office by 4pm. While they did well to finish my experience, everything that happened prior was extremely poor business practice and I would never recommmend anyone use them. read more

My daughter was moving into a small SF condo...space and money were limited. She needed a 36" wide desk from which a fairly heavy adjustable keyboard tray could be hung. The only Ikea desk that could handle the tray was too large. We worked with Bob Callaway at the San Mateo store. We ordered a "bridge" and 2 half legs to custom build for $137. The laminate furniture is sturdy and 1" thick. Bob brought his personal tools from his home to help us complete the project...he really takes pride in helping his customers. Our daughter also purchased a used (looked like new) office chair for half the retail price. Next purchase will probably be file drawers. We highly recommend Bob Callaway and Better source. I've used Better Source a few times for my office. Both times I got really good deals: 1st time on new chairs, 2nd time on a used chair and solid file cabinet. It was very hard to find a locking file cabinet on the grounds that had a usable key. We found a 3-drawer lateral and got it delivered. Delivery takes quite a bit of time because they are so busy. Everything came as expected, but we are missing the rails to the cabinet which I didn't realize, so that's a problem we will have to find replacements. Maybe I can pick them up there, I'll have to call. read more

This place was great! I needed a desk unit installed at the last minute over the Holiday season and they bent over backwards to make it happen. They arrived to the office on time and knocked the job out quickly. They even had time to move some cubicles over, which wasn't part of the original plan. Last December, our company purchased 25 office chairs from Better Source Liquidators. We were searching for high-quality ergonomic chairs, but found buying them new would be completely out of our price range and decided that we needed to buy used. We looked on the web at a number of different liquidators in the area; it can be an unsettling feeling spending thousands of dollars on used products that are sold "as is". But, then I contacted Better Source. They provided information that helped us narrow in on excellent chairs that were very affordable and in great condition. We are located in Santa Cruz and the delivery was affordable and flawless. Two of the 25 chairs had slight issues -- and even though it was my understanding that the chairs were sold "as is" -- Better Source went out of their way to make sure that we were taken care of and satisfied in the end. Moreover, even though the final payment was due upon delivery -- they didn't bill us until they made sure that we were completely satisfied; I am very impressed with their business practices. So much so, I joined Yelp in order to write this review... Initially, I was concerned by some of the negative reviews that I read here -- but I am happy to report that in my dealings with Better Source Liquidators -- I found them to be professional, attentive and courteous. read more

I have worked with Darryl and Tracy for more than 7 years purchasing several inventories of furniture as well as selling the contents of my facilities when existing tenants move out. His assessments and pricing both on the selling and purchasing ends are always well within industry standards as I have researched and checked. His inventory is the largest in Silicon Valley and mock-ups of every one are readily viewable (or within 24-48 hours) in a well lit and organized warehouse. Darryl is reliably on time and always calls if/when he is running late. He works extremely well with the other trades (data/comm, electricians, carpet, TI's, etc) even knowing most of them already. My delays have never been a problem as his crews are friendly and flexible. Tracy is always ahead of any issues and is prompt with email updates, even after hours. She is truly Darryl's right hand 'man' and answers or finds the answers asap. My workload is now less due to a quick and easy phone call to Abettersource and things are taken care of. A+++ read more

Would never use them again. Purchased a really nice high-end desk and credenza brand new (worth a few thousand dollars) a few years back. My office is being vacated/demoed so I asked if they would be interested in seeing it or offering it for sale especially since it is high quality. Good office furniture dealer that provided good service. I have always used Rebecca here when I needed to add furnture at my office. When I first opened my office 5 years ago she found me really good used Herman Miller office cubicle system at a good price. I have since added some wood desk systems for several private offices. This was new furntire with leather chairs and agin the product was good quality at great price. Their installation team is good too. On every install they have showen up on time and professional. Got the furnture delivered and moved into my office on the 8th floor of my building with our problems. Got is set up quickly and cleanly. There was literally a circle of people sitting around behind the counter, all happily lounging. None of them seemed to care in the least bit that there was a customer in their store. I got a new desk from Better Source. The staff is very friendly and will go out of their way to help you find exactly what you are looking for. This large l-shaped desk gives me ample room for my computer, printer, speakers, and dictating equipment with plenty of room to spare for whatever else I need to put somewhere. Complete with a keyboard tray and three good-size doors for files and what have you, it is the best one could want for their home office. The delivery guys were very nice and thorough in setting it up, except for the fact that they threw my wires everywhere, leaving them in a tangled miss placed disarray with the wrong cords in some outlets and rewiring needed. Even my computer program er couldn't believe Hope much of a mess they made as I had him out on a bit of an urgent basis to straighten everything out. Sure, these guys just deliver and set up furniture, but you would think they could be trained on leaving computer wiring a little more neat and in order. So, for an excellent selection of office furniture with friendly service at reasonable prices with friendly and professional delivery men, A Better Source cannot be beat. We've been buying chairs and rolling metal drawers (pedestals) for our growing small business for several months. My first purchase was one chair and one rolling drawer unit for a new employee from the San Mateo store. We started hiring more people and have been buying chairs to replace the mismatched chairs in our main conference room and batches of chairs for new employees since then. Bob Callaway has been a huge help in getting what we needed when we needed it. Everyone else I've dealt with (Tracy, Nancy, Jeanette) has been extremely helpful (for delivery and payment). For our last batch of chairs received last week, they didn't have the exact chairs that we wanted but they had green chairs recovered with black fabric so that we could match our existing chairs (at the same price as our prior purchases). There was an issue with the most recent delivery. It seemed like the Warehouse crew must not have noticed that some of the chairs didn't have height-adjustable arms, but I was reassured immediately by Bob that the problem would be resolved. Within a couple of days, a team came back and replaced the fixed-arms with height-adjustable ones. We're very pleased with the all of the chairs and rolling drawers that we've purchased along with the great service we've received. Our medical records office was gutted after an overhead fire sprinkler malfunctioned. With reconstruction concluding shortly, I took the medical records librarian with me to shop for new furniture. This place is amazing! The selection of items and options (both new and used) is endless. If it's not currently on the showroom floor, they'll help you find it in the catalogue. Although our company will never be identified as a High Roller, Manager Bob Callaway acted as if ours would somehow be the Big Deal of the Year. He could not have been more solicitous in explaining the differences between various furniture components and finishes. He helped us with measurements and even had the delighted medical records librarian sit at his desk to see if that model would work for her. He appeared truly interested in meeting her unique needs and gave us his undivided attention throughout. We closed the deal by discussing best assembly and delivery options. I cannot say enough about how pleased I am with my experience with Better Source and more specifically Bob Callaway and the crew that came to deliver and assemble my furniture (I would name them if I knew their names!). I had a skimpy budget but was determined not to have my long awaited new office space look like a roomful of Craigslist furniture. I was astonished how how deftly Bob worked the design of my office and all the desks that had to fit and flabbergasted at the actual prices vs the ones in the catalog, for the new stuff. I did get some used things but mostly new and everything is matching and just what I wanted. In the midst of their giant move (they are moving their warehouse, not a stress free thing to do), Bob met with me at the store, then the warehouse and then knocked my list together with a full estimate on a Tuesday and my furniture was here on Thursday. The crew arrived in their window and set up my furniture perfectly. They were fast and tidy and ever so polite.
