Kris and Eddie are a wealth of knowledge about E-Bikes. The delivery and pick up service is a nice feature. The multiple day pack with a charger, lock, helmets, etc. provides the full package for all needs to get around AMI. I purchased a HeyBike Sola here. HeyBike listed Better on Bikes as one of their distributors, so I called them up (I didn't want to pay the $200 shipping, and I wanted to be able to test ride the bike before I purchased it). Kris said they didn't carry that model in stock, but he was happy to order one for me. Once it arrived, I could rent it for a few days or a week to test ride it. Then if I decided to buy it, the rental price would be applied to the purchase price. I really like this model of 'try before you buy' because it allowed me to truly experience the bike for more than just a short ride from the store. When the bike arrived, they assembled it for me, and I arrived to pick it up. I took it for a short spin near the store and realized that the front brake was not working correctly. They worked on the brake for over an hour, and we finally realized that the disk brake assembly was frozen on one side and would have to be replaced. Kris contacted HeyBike and ordered a replacement. When I was about to leave, they offered me another model to try while waiting for the part to come in. While I was pretty sure I didn't want that model (and after the ride home my feelings were confirmed), I thought I might as well and rode it home. When the replacement brake arrived, they installed it, called me, and I picked it up the next weekend. I love the Sola model: I was looking for something that rode more like a road bike, and the Sola matched my needs. If you buy an ebike, look for one with 'torque sensor,' not 'cadence sensor.' The torque sensor feels much more like a normal bike, applying the motor based on how hard you push on the pedals. So, why only four stars? I'd say that the gents at Better on Bikes are friendly and made sure that I got what I want, however their bike mechanic skills are still not quite up to par. While it took a couple hours for them to figure out the problem with the brake, they did know enough to finally recognize what the problem was. Also, the gears were not quite adjusted correctly, and I needed to tweak them a bit on the way home--not that the gears don't work, it's just that I'd expect them to have fine-tuned the adjustment before handing the bike over to a customer. The store also does not have what I would call a true bike repair shop. They've only been in business about a year, but I would expect the 'back room' to look a bit more like a repair shop. If you're looking for a rental, they have a good selection of ebikes, as well as scooters and a few ways to haul your kids with your bike (seats and trailers). Also, don't miss renting a Sena helmet: These have Bluetooth capability that allows you to connect to your phone, and an intercom feature that allows you to connect to another rider (as long as you're within a block or so) without using your phone. If you're looking to purchase a HeyBike or a Huffy, they are distributors and it's great to be able to rent one before you buy. Would I go back to Better on Bikes? Absolutely. I believe they are sincere businesspeople who will continue to improve over time. read more

We rented from Better on Bikes to see the island in a whole new way. We didn't have to deal with the traffic, finding a parking spot and we had an opportunity to visit neighborhoods we wouldn't have if driving a car. Kris and Eddie where great; they went over the bikes in detail, supplied locks and gave some suggestions where to go. We will definitely use them again in the future. read more
