Saw this place on TV (Arizona Highways). I believe. We were going through Camp Verde at lunch time and decided to look them up. Locally owned. Was greeted by a friendly hostess on arriving. There was a few local people eating when we got there. Was brought a menu and decided on two burritos. Served with a salsa. We only ordered the burritos no rice and beans. We got our food quickly. The meal was hot and good. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We go to Pine Az often , if we are close at lunch we will stop in again. I try to support local business when I am able. read more

This is one of our favorite lunch stops in the area. This is where our friends meet and share a good meal. The choices range from Mexican to Salas to some awesome burgers. The staff will go out of its way to modify your choice if you do desire. Some accompaniments come from the box because it is a busy place with a small staff- to me that makes sense as long as the food is good. Beto's is definitely a simple but great place to dine at reasonable prices. Service is good so food comes out hot and with extra salsa as you wish. Give this little nugget a try. read more

Soooo, I would guess the place may get busy on weekends perhaps? The food was your average Mexican-American Cuisine and the prices were the same as much larger or nicer establishments, but since I think its the only Mexican restaurant around for miles, they have the market cornered. The Chimi was pretty small (should have known since it was only $4) but the burrito I ordered was the expected. The margaritas were good but the chips and salsa did not include bean dip as mentioned by another reviewer. Guess they stopped doing that. My suggestion to the management: advertise some happy hour specials and offer them daily. This will at least bring in SOME business. You are on a major thoroughfare; utilize this to your advantage. Starting with being seated at the smallest table in the farthest corner despite every single table being open. Since it was national tequila day I ordered a marg! Originally I ordered the blue raspberry margarita and was told they didn't have the syrup. No worries! Switched to the blackberry flavored one instead and YUCK. Tasted like straight syrup, 0 alcohol, and the ice to liquid ratio was insanely off. I had maybe 5 itty bitty sips before asking the waitress to take it back. She took it with no apology or question on what the issue was. It takes a lot of talent to mess up a margarita. So kudos to them. My boyfriend and I ordered the fajita combo plate to share. It came with shrimp, steak, and chicken mixed with veggies. There were a total of 4 pieces of shrimp, 3 flour tortillas clearly store bought and stale, and shreds of dry unseasoned minuscule shreds "steak" and chicken. The toppings came out on a large platter. Most of the cheese was clumped together, melted to the plate (but not warm or stringy just completely solid melded to the plate) and insanely thin. My boyfriend said the rice was good but he also found uncooked rice immediately after saying this. Overall, I would say the food was far below subpar and I am shocked at the 5 star reviews. I think those who gave it 5 stars might be locals or come from a land of zero flavor. The restaurant aesthetic was just your typical Mexican restaurant decor and I do not think it is unique enough to rectify giving a higher rating. The service was also nothing to talk positively of. We were the only ones in the restaurant and you'd think we weren't even there the way the waitress sat on her phone the entire time. Don't recommend. Would not go back.

And even a dog friendly patio.. it's now even more appealing than the old building it was located in for many years on Main Street in cottonwood. The service is outstanding, the food is fresh & generous. I believe it's family run. One of my favorite things about this restaurant is their empanadas. It's very difficult to find empanadas in Arizona Mexican restaurants, for some reason. But there's more. The empanadas are made only with corn flour and they are gluten-free and wonderful! But there's nothing I've ever eaten in this restaurant that wasn't outstanding.

The taste reminded me of the outside of a tamale. They kind of crumbled when you took a bite. The shredded beef had a birria flavor but without the dipping sauce. We added chips and salsa for a whopping $7.00! Our lunch was $45.00 total. Restaurant was clean and smelled pleasant. Employees were friendly. It's not a bad place by any means, however for the price I would check out what else is in the area before I would go back.
