Really really good food served by very nice ladies at reasonable prices. We come here about twice a month. This time we had a cheese enchilada à la carte and two crispy tacos( chicken and pork) . Both come with sour cream , lettuce , diced tomatoes and cheese ---all fresh as are the salsas at the self serve salsa bar . This is a little neighborhood favorite with limited seating. Parking can also be limited so ordering to go in advance can often be a good idea. Ended up at Juanita's Kitchen from a recommendation by our AirBNB hosts when we visited the area! They said that they have the best Mexican food AND salsas. The recommendation did not lead us astray. We had the Green Chile burrito and chicken quesadilla meals, along with an array of their salsas/toppings. They have an AMAZING salsa bar, and they offered a bag for all the containers of toppings and salsas we filled-- wonderful pickled onions and pico de gallo with cucumbers. We also ordered a side of chips and they gave us plenty! Everything was delicious. You definitely get your money's worth! We ordered fish tacos, carne asada burrito, and a shredded beef chimichanga. The fish tacos were awful, I am amazed anyone would serve such a thing. They were pretty much cheap store bought frozen fish sticks that were chopped up into the taco, WTF. The carne asada burrito was okay, but nothing special. The chimichanga was good. The salsa bar is good with great cilantro salsa. The restaurant is small but comfortable. The service is good for ordering at the counter. If you go, don't get those horrible fish tacos. If the owners see this message please make some legit fried fish tacos or take them off your menu. read more

This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant. I am hard to please because my mama makes the best enchiladas and tamales. I had the enchilada plate with one ground beef and one chicken. The chicken meat was especially tasty. The enchilada sauce was light and flavorful. It was not homemade from the chili ancho pepper but no restaurant does that, too time consuming. The beans and rice were delicious and the best I have had around Sedona and Cottonwood. I also had a sopapilla. It was almost perfect, a little crusty in places but mostly fluffy and just the right amount of honey. The service was excellent. They were friendly and attentive. I ordered albondigas. They were good. Simple flavors, but good. A characteristic of traditional Mexican cooking. The birria plate not as flavorful as expected. Normally you would expect an explosion of flavor from that dish. Rice and beans also were bland. The tamale had a very firm masa shell, and the flavor was good. All in all, not bad. We stopped in Cottonwood on a little business trip and came across this little Taco Shop in town near a gas station around 12:30 in the afternoon. We looked at it and it was kind of well why not. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. I ordered the Asada Torta and my wife had a Beef taco plate. Both were very good. Now this is a very small place, but we were asked by 2 different very nice ladies how we were doing and how was the food tasted. Not like an average "Mcplace" if you know what I mean. Found this spot after a few days camping in Dead Horse Ranch Campground. Just needed something substantial after a hike in Sedona. The food was soooo good and fresh and the lady at the counter was so kind and helpful and made sure I was able to sit and eat my meal. The chips and salsa were amazing! Run away from this place. We were the only people there at mid day (never a good sign) and when the person behind the bar approached us she had a long list of all the things that they were out of - basically everything good including guacamole, fish and half a dozen other things you might actually want in tacos. How can a Mexican restaurant be out of guac? Go to Safeway and buy some avocados - it's not like there were any other customers there requiring your attention. Hell, I think you might even be able to buy avocados from the corner store that is a 2 minute walk away. My burrito was disgusting - basically ground beef and potatoes with some cheese on them - almost impossible to eat. No sauce of any kind and nothing substituted for the missing guacamole. I went with a couple of other people - one had the street tacos that were also awful. The other (the smart one) declined to eat anything and had a margarita that was actually ok. There was a choice of 3 salsas all of which were bland and boring. There is wifi but it's not actually usable because of shielding from the pretty roof. Suffice to say the roof is the best thing about this depressing place. Go there, have a cocktail, have some chips with bland salsa, don't expect your phone to work and enjoy the roof and don't try to eat anything or engage the cook in any conversation - he doesn't care. read more

This small restaurant was a great surprise. The food was excellent. The service and friendliness were far beyond expectations and would put many fine restaurants to shame. You order at the counter and our food was brought to the table. We had the chicken burrito plate and the enchilada plate. The burrito was at least 70% chicken Both with fantastic flavor. Tiny place, big flavor. Juanitas is my go to for carne asada street tacos. They use authentic Baja style tortillas and they are very tasty. They offer spicy Pozole on the weekends until they run out. They offer a self-serve salsa bar that you can use to jazz up your order. Parking is a bit of a pain but worth the effort. Juanita's was recommended by a colleague when I was working onsite in Cottonwood. All I can say is what an amazing recommendation their carne asada tacos are DELICIOUS! I have literally craved their tacos and am so glad I got to come back onsite so I can have them for lunch. The restaurant is small but clean and the salsa bar is also delicious.
