After Googling "crystal shops near me" I found several shops, but this one seemed to have a bigger variety of what we were looking for. It was early, around 10am when we arrived, and we were warmly greeted by Heather who showed us all around the shop (which was perfectly filled with everything we had hoped for and more). Heather showed us how we could pour out the stones to find the one right for us, how the tarot decks had open samples so you could see exactly what you were buying, let us know the herbs were on sale and where the recipe cards were if we wanted some ideas. She offered coffee, tea, and water as she told us about their services with readers, classes, and a little about the shop and owner. There was so much to see, so much to do, they even have a corner you can sit and read in, get comfy. The reader of the day was Samantha who not only is a 5th generation tarot reader, but was very friendly and full of very helpful information and suggestions for purchasing tarot cards /oracle cards. My daughter and I quickly started filling shopping baskets with stones and crystals, both in tumbled and raw form, as well as candles, and multiple other gifts. My favorite thing about the stones /crystals is that they come with a piece of paper that tells you all about them, so it's easy to keep track of. When it came time to check out I realized I had mixed all my papers and stones and lost track of which belonged to which. Vialet, David, and Heather were all so helpful in assisting me to match them all back up and then individually packaging them so that I would not mix them again on my trip back home. When all was said and done and we looked at the time... 4pm... 6 hours... Yes SIX HOURS had gone by. My daughter and I could've spent another six hours in there with out even realizing it because there are so many things to look at, touch, experience. We came back the next day to purchase more oracle cards, and the next day to get readings. I've never had a reading or done anything of the sorts, it's more my daughter's thing. But there were 3 of us that received readings from Heather and It was an incredible experience. So much information and guidance. We will be back! And this will be our new go to spot for sure each time we visit. It's wonderful how welcoming everyone is, how knowledgeable, insightful, and the array of services offered by quality people! I spent hours speaking with her, confided in her, respected her guidance, and regarded her as someone safe. I also supported her professionally in a significant way because I genuinely believed in her and in the work she was doing. That trust is gone. What changed my opinion was not a single disagreement. It was discovering that the compassion and understanding I believed I was receiving directly did not match what was being said about me elsewhere. That matters profoundly when someone works in a profession built on intuition, trust, emotional vulnerability, and guidance. I was going through an extraordinarily difficult period in my life, including serious medical circumstances and significant emotional strain. Carol knew that. She also knew how vulnerable I was and how much weight I placed on her perspective. Despite that, I later learned that she had been expressing judgments about me to my wife while interacting with me very differently in private. When I became hurt by something that happened, I did not attack her, publicly shame her, or retaliate. I reached out directly and asked if we could meet because I wanted to understand what had happened and repair the relationship. She told me she was busy and would check her schedule. She never contacted me again. Nearly two months later, however, she had no difficulty reaching out to my wife to request changes to marketing materials that I had personally created through my own business. My wife does not run my creative business. That moment told me everything I needed to know. Ignoring someone when they ask to repair a personal rupture is one thing. Deliberately bypassing that same person when you later want something related to their professional work is another. It felt dismissive, avoidant, and profoundly disrespectful. I gave an enormous amount of my time, creative labor, professional expertise, encouragement, and trust to this relationship without expecting anything in return. I did so because I believed I was supporting someone who had positively affected my life. I now understand that relationship very differently. The most painful part is not that Carol and I are no longer close. It is realizing that someone I once regarded almost as a maternal figure could know how deeply I trusted her, know how much I was struggling, accept the generosity I extended, speak critically about me behind the scenes, and then avoid a direct conversation when I asked for one. For a profession that depends so heavily on trust, discernment, authenticity, and emotional integrity, that discrepancy is impossible for me to overlook. People are free to form their own opinions and have their own experiences. This is mine. I once recommended Carol enthusiastically. I no longer recommend her at all.

Just because a person comes from a "highly attuned spiritual family" doesn't mean they're also highly spiritually attuned -- that's like saying "she comes from a highly musical family" but she can't carry a tune or keep the beat. (I myself come from an *extremely* Christian family -- Bible Belt! -- but I have since learned the truth about that religion and am no longer the slightest bit Christian nor will I ever be again.) As I said, both my husband and I are *extremely* intuitive and can sense people's energy, and the energy we get from this man is "used car salesman" with not a shred of spirituality. In any case, his pushy car-salesman attitude was the real issue. That said, my husband and I did stop by the Youngfield store a couple days ago, and although we didn't encounter "Mr Mask" (and mask or not, the attitude was the problem) the lady at the register was also very "car-lot sales-y", listing off all the things on sale, the readings going on that day, etc. While some might find that helpful, we found it rather off-putting, as we had come in for a specific purpose, not a 3-minute sales pitch. There is nothing wrong with welcoming customers in and saying, "If you need any help just let us know." (Ashley at the 44th Ave location got this right, every time!) But the pushy attitude we've repeatedly encountered makes us reluctant to shop here.
