What a lovely plaza to shop, dine, and even get your self-care items. Love that they decorate for the holidays and just opened a Salt & Straw! I'll definitely continue to return and keep seeing new shops and eats to try. All the places I've tried have been friendly with a good selection and comparable price points to similar shops. If you are in the area, I'd definitely stop by. My perfect visit would be getting a Watermelon Iced Tea from AJ Fine Foods, Lavender & Pear hand soap/lotion from LATHER, sushi from Sushi Vibe, and end with a delicious treat at Salt & Straw.

My wife and/or I will occasionally meet friends for a meal, happy hour, or to try out a new restaurant or shop. While some of the older places I used to visit or no longer there, there is still something for everyone and plenty to check out. They also have new restaurants and stores opening up quite regularly. The Uptown Plaza has some great restaurants. They are in general rather casual though some dressier. The Henry and Salt & Straw are probably my favorites, though I am excited for DiMaggio's Italian Restaurant to open soon. You can find the 13 restaurants listed if you go to https://www.uptownplazaphx.com/directory and click on DINING. There are also seven fun shops that are in general casual ones. I also sometimes meet up with friends or family or even head there on my own. There's something for everyone and plenty to see and do; however, some of my favorite stores and restaurants have closed and been replaced over the years. It also happens to be where my wife and I had our first date! The Biltmore Fashion Park is known for some great restaurants. While there are some upscale and casual restaurants there, my favorites include Seasons 52 or True Food for a good meal and Frost a Gelato Shoppe for dessert. I really enjoy having several Fox restaurants at the Biltmore. There are also many other restaurants in the area. Several of the restaurants have great happy hours, too. I miss the Crepe Club though several other restaurants have opened since then. There are also plenty of shops from upscale shops to more casual ones like Lululemon and Sakes 5th Avenue. There are fancy clothing stores that my wife may enjoy though I typically enjoy the nice courtyard or seating outside some of the stores while she shops. Then, we grab a bite somewhere together. I miss the Apple Store and Sharper Image but look forward to what is opened next. There are also experiences from the Sip & Stroll (where you can enjoy a beverage from one of six restaurants and then walk around), meet-up with the Phoenix Run Club, the Art Walk, the Swiftie Liftie Outdoor Workout Class, or one of a number of galas or special events. Find more details on what is coming up at the Biltmore Fashion Park at https://www.reddevelopment.com/biltmore-fashion-park/events. While stores and restaurant hours may vary, the hours are typically 10 AM to 8 PM daily except for Sundays from 12 Noon to 6 PM. There is plenty of free parking around the Biltmore Fashion Park along with valet options. You can read more about the Biltmore Fashion Park at https://www.reddevelopment.com/biltmore-fashion-park/visit. There is also a mall map on there along with a listing of activities and experiences with events.

Decent parking and I found a close handicapped space for the van. Event started promptly at 5:30. A few vendors including our very own Yelp Elite Event spot in Gilbert -Pixie sticks. They had a nice boutique there with an assortment of their items for sale. Joining them with booths were PetSmart (pup cups), a couple dog rescue orgs, and a Halloween photographer. There was also great music and really good cash bar making some excellent cocktails. It was a free event. The cocktails were $9 apiece... decent value. Topped it off with dinner at ZinBurger before I left. There's a few great restaurants up there, so will probably back despite the long drive.

Awhhhhh, indoor Malls. Those vacant places just sitting there like dead beacons in the desert for…read morevultures to pick apart reminding us of our past, "Glory Days" as the boss would say. If Stephen King has not used a vacant mall for a setting in one of horror stories yet he should get right on that. Ha! So I messed up a movie time and date at the Harkins today and decided with the drive time already under my belt I would just run in and see how the mall is doing these days. I remember it being one of my favs back in the day since it was smaller, not as overwhelming as the three story or large other malls in town, and always pretty with cool decor. I remember when they used to have a sandcastle and the best holiday tree in town. I also remember, and will never forget, the time on a first date my date went into a diabetic coma at the Harkins top floor. This was when the old Harkins was located inside the mall and it had an upper level to the movies only. That was remodeled years ago. The Harkins has moved at least twice since then and is now located right outside the south mall door entrances off of Bethany Home. So pretty much the mall is vacant but not 100 percent though. No one was there but me and maybe five other folks. However, potential is there. I am not sure what they have planned for the closed up shops but not every business is closed. In fact, i was surprised it has as much as it does. The stores open are pretty specialized though so maybe go in with an open mind and not a specific need. There were two or three shoe stores, a few non brand clothing places for the young and hip female shopper, a few treats and eateries, a whole wall dedicated to, "Five Below" but i never saw where the door or store was. Future store or maybe outside? No info on the wall either. Maybe it was there before and closed? Not sure. There is also an American Furniture store where the old Costco was, a Wetzels Pretzels, and Charlies Steaks are old time patrons. Shockingly Charlies is still there after all this time. They also have a few of those kiosk pop up vendors in the middle of the mall selling cell phones and jewelry and such, which seem a must have at any mall. But thank God no pressure or shout outs by any of them. I appreciated that. The other eateries seem to have closed or changed over. Not sure how they stay open with such small crowds. There is also an accessory type of place similar to Claires. Walmart of course is the staple store located adjacent but it does have an indoor access door to the east. Outdoor straight to the parking lot too. As far as the building space itself. I love the space and vintage feel of this mall. They have historic old school photos on the inside walls. Photos that show what the mall was like in the 1960s when it first opened. So cool! I loved that. I wish every wall had photos like this on it but it seemed they were mostly at the north east entrance by Walmart. It was a fast walk back and forth since like I mentioned it is not a large mall. They do have an open area mall located on the corner off of 19th Ave that is not part of the inside mall but a strip mall that is part of the large land space known as Spectrum mall. Far better choices for shopping and food. The main staple stores outside are Ross and Target. The smaller places keep changing so I wont list them but I noticed a dollar store and sporting store at least. A lof of the smaller places have changed over the past few years so call ahead. I am guessing the Target and Ross are not going anywhere soon since they have been there for a few years. There is also a Chase bank at the old, "Elephant Bar" space south east corner of 19th Ave and Bethany Home more or less. I noticed a few more eateries have gone in recently. I think a Naughty Tacos is one I saw as I drove by. Inside the mall they also had this really cool space looking place with tacos as the food choice. It looked like you walked into a tunnel to the counter. Fun redesign of a space. So if you want tacos you have choices. Shopping for needs not wants you are probably better outside for full service stores and variety but the inside mall is still cool for a trip down memory lane. Maybe they can get some more shops to open in there soon. Bonus if it relates to your needs- you are right on the light rail .

I depend on this mall for all of my shopping. It's easy to get here via the use of the light rail…read more Please don't close it. Being disabled and elderly ,see, I need this mall. It's close to my residence.
