JT is incredibly kind and well-intentioned, but the therapy felt one-dimensional. Sessions largely focused on validating feelings without providing structure, tools, challenge, or actionable guidance - all of which I repeatedly asked for. Given that this therapy was priced at the higher end of what we've seen, we expected a much deeper level of engagement and clinical depth. I consistently expressed that I did not feel understood, and that concern never felt meaningfully explored. The turning point came when JT continued asking the same questions and implied that I wasn't going deep enough. When I asked him to take a different approach and ask more thoughtful probing questions, he responded by asking me what I thought he should ask instead. That felt backwards. If he is the trained professional, I don't believe it should be my responsibility to determine how we get deeper in session. He also seemed dismissive of modalities like the Gottman Method and Nonviolent Communication, as well as the self-work I was doing independently. Despite repeatedly asking for homework or guidance between sessions, none was provided. We were looking for stronger direction and more skill-based, structured work, which is why we chose to move on. We're very happy with our new therapist, who also practices EFT but brings a broader, more versatile approach rather than relying on a singular method.

As cliché as it sounds, I can honestly say that working with Lindsay changed my life. Who am I…read morekidding? With the tools and insight she provided over our 18 months working together, she's continuing to change my life. I sought out counseling services when life felt unbearably bleak, difficult, and dark. I came in, grasping for control and hoping for a quick fix, which in hindsight is utterly laughable. I think if I knew how much baggage I needed to unpack and how much "inside" work it would take, I never would have begun the process, but with Lindsay's gentle and steadfast guidance, I was slowly but surely able to pull myself out of the weeds. With her help (and a lot of healthy work), I've found my voice and have begun to thrive in a visceral, sustainable and powerful manner- what a gift she has given me! Lindsay is thorough, receptive, non-judgmental, open to talking about therapy within therapy (so meta, I know), insightful, funny, wise, kind, gentle yet straightforward, and very easy to talk to. She questioned and helped me dig when I needed to be pushed and gave me space when she recognized that I needed to come to my own conclusions. The way she approaches counseling is thoughtful and intentional, but never calculated, which is invaluable. Overall, all I can say is this: Lindsay led me through a very challenging period of my life and for that I will forever be grateful. I've been through my fair share of counseling in the past with poor results- I'm so thankful for this positive experience to fall back on as needed. If you're feeling lost, trapped, stuck, like you're drowning...do yourself (and your loved ones!) a solid: go see Lindsay, commit to doing the work, and stick with it, even when it get's hard. People are messy, life is hard, but she's one of the great ones out there.

Unfortunately I recommend you not go to Denver Wellness for mental health counseling…read more The "treatment" offered here is not helpful and will hurt you. If you are someone who needs to rant or just wants someone understanding to acknowledge how rough things are, you'll be fine with the twenty-somethings who will listen and nod along. If you need some actual treatment or real help though, this isn't the place you'll get it. I had very poor experiences with two of their therapists who had no idea what they were doing. I am more trauma and ADHD informed than either of them were. And what really sucked was after the second counsellor left me in a state of triggered anxiety and confusion, I got an inappropriately cheerful call letting me know they were firing me as a client without communicating anything about why I was being let go. To be clear, I did nothing wrong as a patient. I didn't break any rules, violate any policies, say anything psychotic or anything like that. I simply couldn't get any real help. Things like asking my therapist "What is acceptance and how do I get there in these troubled days?" That kind of thing is not something a therapist should be struggling to help you with. Defining basic terms in psychology and working with someone to help them accomplish some relief is not rocket science and it's not hard to do. So I can only conclude that these relatively new therapists just don't know what they're doing. I'm not even mad at them personally. I'm mainly just confused why they are so bad at their jobs. Edited on 15 Dec as my psychiatrist also reached out to fire me today for no reason whatsoever. I was basically just banned from the premises because of their incompetence. It's a hard thing to say that but it is what it is. I took this all very hard for a couple of days because how could I not take this personally? But after going over all this with my friends and professional colleagues, we concluded the problem is Denver Wellness Associates. I hope you don't have the same experience I did. It really sucks.

I have been a client of Estelle's since 2015 with some breaks during this time due to life changes. When I first began seeing Estelle, I saw her in person at her office which was comfortable. I no longer live in Colorado, so now Estelle and I meet virtually. I am on a very regular appointment schedule, however, she has always remained flexible when accommodating appointment changes. Estelle has and continues to work with me through a variety of issues (PTSD, queer relationships, grief with relationships ending, marriage, self-improvement, religious changes), and I never felt judged or treated differently. Instead, I've always felt extremely safe with Estelle no matter the topic. I easily can say that my life has been changed for the better by Estelle's presence. She celebrates with me when things are good, and provides light at the end of the tunnel when things are hard. She isn't clinical and dry. Estelle is warm, invested, and appropriately humorous. She truly wants to understand you, your quirks, and find a path towards healing at your pace. Her observations are given kindly and are explained well. I like that Estelle holds me accountable when I need to be held accountable. I plan to stay with Estelle for many years to come! She is my mentor for bettering myself, and a beacon of hope when things are heavy.

She is compassionate, relatable, and understanding yet will effectively confront issues head on and challenge your old ways of thinking. I found Karina after deciding talk therapy wasn't working and wanted to try a more active approach. The first thing I noticed was that she was extremely perceptive and just by talking to me and observing my behaviors pointed out problematic thoughts and actions right off the bat that no one else has ever bothered to notice. These included obsessive behaviors and hoarding tendencies. We worked together to find constructive ways of changing behaviors using CBT. If you want to find real solutions and take action I can't recommend Karina enough. After working with her I realized I had wasted so much money on other therapists who did little more than sit and listen without offering real solutions. I am now in such a better place and I can't thank Karina enough helping me get here.
