Best Western Hotel in Phoenix , AZ on E. Northern Ave.: When we (6 of us with 3 rooms) arrived (late morning), we had to wait 15 minutes at the desk till someone (employee) finally showed up! What? Checked in and discovered the phones don't work. Spoke with other guests and same problem. It looks like they are re-habbing an old existing hotel, but the tub was flaking so it's definitely a "budget" job. The shower gel container was empty, the tiny hand soap at the sink would take your skin off, refrigerator was dirty and at their "continental breakfast" - you couldn't find a soul to replenish what little they had. Another guest said when they checked into their room, the beds weren't made. So word to the wise -- don't stay there! read more

This hotel met our expectations and was a very comfortable and affordable option for us in Phoenix. The check in and check out process was easy. Breakfast was included, which was nice. I wish I could leave a five-star review because the hotel itself was great. Unfortunately, the general manager completely ruined the experience with her rude, dismissive, and unprofessional attitude. During my stay, I provided valid tax exemption documentation, which has been accepted at numerous hotels before--including other Best Western locations. However, the GM, refused to acknowledge it, first claiming such exemptions don't exist in Arizona (which is completely false) and then saying, "this hotel doesn't accept it." Even after I showed official documentation proving otherwise, she made no effort to resolve the situation and instead suggested canceling my reservation. After my stay, I left a review explaining my experience. Instead of addressing my concerns or apologizing for her poor service, she (I don't want name her here) responded with a condescending and defensive email, essentially blaming me for the situation. Her refusal to take responsibility and her complete lack of professionalism reflect terribly on this hotel and the Best Western brand. I hope they will bring a person to the management who understands customer service and basic hospitality policies. read more

The front desk person was just fine -- neither friendly nor rude -- and she explained to pool, gym, and breakfast hours as well as pointed me in the direction of my room. As for the room.... I got a king suite and the room is huuuuge for just myself. This entire space is CLEAN. I wipe down every surface whenever I go into a hotel room, and this is the first hotel room where my wipes did not turn brown at all --- even the little nooks and crannies, the AC unit and its vented slots, the arms on the chairs, the toilet cover -- CLEAN. Either the housekeepers do an excellent job cleaning, or the guest before me is also a clean freak and happened to wipe down all of the services during their stay as well HAHA What I really dislike about the room is that it looks out to the pool, and since I'm on the first floor, when I open the curtains, I'm staying directly at half naked people in the pool. However if I close the curtains, I lose the natural light coming from outside. TIP: If you use a specific credit card to book on the hotel's website, that card must be presented in-person or a different card must be used. read more

Cozy small and clean. But our room has a bad layout. The bed was in a corner and the air conditioning was in the other half of yhe room facing the door. It was just awkward. Im a hot sleeper so it wasn't ideal. But bfast is adequate and i enjoyed the pancake maker. The employees were nice. Great place to stay. read more

Stayed at this property for the second time while visiting our daughter. Maggie (I believe her name was) at the front was very nice and checked us in. She also checked us out. Very nice room on the third floor close to the elevator (thank you Maggie). The room was clean and quiet. Nice bathroom with good water pressure and fan. The bed was NOT comfortable, my only gripe. Plenty of free parking, right off the 17 freeway. Complimentary breakfast was just ok, nothing special. My wife and I discussed where to stay for our next visit. We were in Phoenix for one night and wanted clean, comfy, safe. That's what we got at this BW and at 1/2 the cost of the high end, big name hotel that's in the same complex! Driving to this location from Glendale, where we had attended a ball game, we were apprehensive as we got closer. This is more of an industrial area and we're unfamiliar with Phoenix. The hotel grounds are clean and nicely maintained. The young lady who checked us in was very friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious, immaculate, and quiet, even though the freeway is nearby. Breakfast was a wonderful surprise in that it was a nice variety and very tasty. We were so glad that we chose this BW and we'll be staying here any time we're in Phoenix. read more

Booked a 3-day stay through Expedia. Had to cancel due to change of plans. Called the hotel the day before and asked them to cancel. They gave me the runaround: said they have no way to refund me and that I have to contact Expedia. Expedia support tried to reason with them, without success. They charged me $561.70 for three days that I couldn't be there. Yes, I know the policy says "no refunds" -- yet another hotel (Spring Hill Suites) gave me a full refund under the exact same circumstances. Spent 2 nights here for an in-town staycation and didn't have any problems. Breakfast had lots of options - eggs kind of rubbery - but everything else was good. Pool & jacuzzi were very nice. Never. Ever again. We needed a hotel for one night as we were doing a turn around trip for a concert. We figured we'd go cheap this time since it was only one night. Well. Big mistake. We were already cutting it close with the 3 pm check in time when the concert started at 530 but we knew that was typical for hotels so oh well. Except when we got there. Our room wasn't ready. It was 3 o'clock. The desk people literally did not give two shits that we had somewhere to be "it'll take 30 minutes. Sorry" that was it. Nothing else was said. Extremely disappointed. How is a room not ready at 3 when check out is at 11 am?! The attitude of the front desk upset me even more. We rushed getting ready and barely made it in time. We stayed here one night and it was so bad! The towels were super thin, the sheets were super thin, and the walls were super thin. The heater burned when we turned it on and stunk up the room so we froze that night. Woke up at 4:30am to a garbage truck right outside our window and couldn't go back to bed as people keep using the stairs next to us and the door would slam each time. Breakfast was gross! I drove all the way around to my room entrance, hiked up with all my luggage, groceries, purse, up the elevator down the hallway and guess what....the key didn't work. After I took everything back down, put it back in my car went back to the front desk and finally got inside, set everything out got settled in...I found out that the room I requested with a bathtub had no working drain plug in the bathtub. I wasn't about to pack everything up again and move so I just stuck a towel in the drain and hoped for the best. When I chose that hotel that night, I had thought that I was going to get a complementary breakfast paying $100 more per night than the hotel next to it. Come to find out Breakfast was another $19 for any of it. When I left, I asked why the customer in front of me I got a cookie when they checked in and they said oh I don't know why you didn't get one. I was the only person checking in when I came in, it was 11 at night. There was a few people in the bar and the atmosphere was nice. I stumbled upon this place while looking for hotels in Phoenix, AZ and I had mixed emotions based on the reviews but decided what do I have to lose? It's a fairly new hotel with reasonable prices. We stayed there for one night and the room was a good size. The room had a counter with sink, microwave, and refrigerator once you open the door to the room. Only complaints I would have are: 1. The blinds/ curtains in the room didn't go all the way down. This made us highly uncomfortable because we were on the first floor, and someone can easily look in, because our room was facing the parking lot. 2. A bigger TV would be nice- considering how far the distance is from the TV to the bed. It's not the usual set up where the TV is only a few steps away. Other than that, everything else was good. I have stayed a lot of hotels in Phoenix and every single one even the supposed to be nicer ones and there was junkies all over and the hotels felt grimy so I have stayed at a new hotel every time I've come to Phoenix and I am so glad I found this one! It was only like $30 more a night than the cheaper hotels and it was way worth it! The staff were all amazing , the grounds were very very clean and trash free, the rooms were spotless , the breakfast is more than decent , it's not great but it's definitely doable and it saved me $40 bucks every morning, the pool has COOLl WATER!! Every other place we stayed at had like 90 degree water and it wasn't in the slightest bit refreshing but here the water is so nice and clean and they have nice lounge chairs and towels & honestly I've stayed a lot of best westerns but for the value and because the staff I think I like this one the most! My fiancee and I went to Arizona to visit his brother's grave. We weren't sure of the lodging situation because we also had friends here. We decided to find a hotel, so we didn't inconvience them. We're not super cheap but didn't want to spend Hawaii prices for two nights. We called a few other places and they were booked so we called this place and Josh was super helpful! He was pleasant on the phone and told us the prices. When he checked is on we got to interact with him and he was such a awesome guy. My fiancee and I both work in tourism industry in Hawaii and we receive such aloha from Josh. As my fiancee and I went to grab our bags, my fiancee said he didn't even care what the room looks like because Josh was so great. Which is funny because just at the moment Josh ran out to our car and told is our room is closer to the back door, so we could use the back door instead (so thankful). Josh also told is they had only been open for two months now! Whoa. We got a room with a king size bed and a sofa. The room is big enough for us. We both commented how clean the bath tub is and how it's all basically new. They have free breakfast (which we didn't utilize ofc). There's a pool with grilling area. Plenty of parking. And the lobby had a sitting area with a fire place. We didn't stay around too long because we were out and about. Good place to lay your head down. It's also convience to stay here if you're headed to Sedona, or that area because it's near the onramps. We found going south was a hassle. This place is a dump!!!! 2 nights $290 - I think I would end up with much better conditions booking Motel 6! I checked in @ 3:30 pm, I noticed 2 housekeepers were sitting in the lobby using their cell phones. Upon entering room # 128 I noticed large stains on the tiled floor, debris all over the carpet & stuffy, musty smell, tissue box completely empty & shampoo/ lotion sample bottles empty as well. Bed side table & lamp dusty, bathroom door & light switch trashed!! Within a couple of minutes I was back in the lobby showing the pics of the filthy room. Jennifer the manager wasn't impressed & stated that there are no other 2 Queen rooms available. 2 staff - a housekeeper & 1 of the front desk staff were sent to my room to vacuum & mop the floor. I asked for a discount & was told by the manger that since I booked through Expedia my transaction was final & no discount was possible. Later in the evening I noticed another fecal - like stain behind the toilet. We're in pandemic - these conditions are unacceptable!!! Came to sure stay best Western phoenix airport tonight. Went in to check in. Zenus thought he was a God. Telling me he would cancel my reservation if I didn't pull my shirt over my face bc I didn't have a mask on. I told him I have been caring for covid p as Tientsin as a covid crisis RN since the beginning, he replies " you should know better". So rude to someone that has sacrificed for almost two years, was unaware I was going to need a mask at this time. Have been traveling from TX to CA and now heading back the last 4 days. Overall I was very happy with our stay at this property. I had made a mistake in booking and accidentally picked the wrong night. The employee at the desk was very understanding and helpful, she got us sorted out and into our room quickly despite my error. The room was clean and a lot bigger than I expected. I felt safe and slept well despite having a migraine. I wasn't able to get the TV to work, but that wasn't a deal-breaker. It was pretty quiet and not too busy . All of the signs asking people to wear make and socially distance from others were on the main doors, in elevators, at the front desk etc. Additional signage was up asking that anyone with symptoms of Covid-19 not enter were placed in many locations as well. Both myself and my significant other are fully vaccinated and have been slowly easing up on our routines. On our 2nd and final morning here I went down to get us both breakfast. As I was carrying our food upstairs in the elevator a young boy of 11-12 joined me, also with his breakfast. We both were guests on the 3rd floor. By the time we reached our floor he had volunteered that his mother was in their room and was very ill. He further stated that everyone suspected she had Covid -19. I don't know if everyone was his family, a doctor or other health aid, or hotel staff. I don't know who was aware, but I do know this young man who was sharing a room with his mother was not wearing a mask, was, not socially distancing, and was telling anyone who would listen that his mom probably has Covid. My attempt to find and notify a manager was not successful and we left very shortly after my encounter with this boy. I am not blaming the hotel for this encounter, but if they were aware of this family and didn't make certain that everyone involved stay out of public areas unless taking all appropriate safety precautions and have some type of protocol in place for an event like this, then I am disappointed, to say the least. read more

Management is non responsive. What started out as a great weekend turned "pissy " when we watched a small child urinate in the jacuzzi. Spoke to front desk person who stated he saw it as well and nothing was done. A relative of child rinsed off by jacuzzi but jacuzzi was not cleaned. Food dropped by kids and made it unsafe when other guest almost slipped. When someone told front desk nothing done. Another child yelled to mom that (not sure of name) threw up in pool ... again nothing. Mother said he spit up water. No diapers on babies in pool. Had a 3 night stay here while in the area and got a great deal and accommodation for such a last minute booking. The hotel was well kept, clean and all management and staff we interacted with were great and informative. The location was ideal for what we were there for and just a short 15ish minute drive to downtown Phoenix. Breakfast included and tasty! Our flight didn't get in until 1AM after several delays but there were no issues getting checked in so late. They also have a gym, pool and laundry room accessible to all guests. What we didn't like: The bedding. We didn't sleep very well on any night we were here because of this. There is not an actual comforter on the bed, its 2 very thin sheets and a thin fuzzy blanket. The sheets were very rough. The bed just felt unwelcoming to us both. Only got breakfast one morning but the entire time a staff member stood in the corridor and watched everyone. So we wouldn't get 2nds?? Not sure, but it made eating our breakfast uncomfortable and as if we needed to be babysat. Food was good though, typical hotel breakfast food - even fresh fruit! I stayed in July 2021. The room was decent, the breakfast was nice with hot food, but a few overall experience made me upset. My son left his phone on the couch in our room and we called front desk to check for us as the last location it was at is in the room. (iPhone) the front desk lady wasn't the nicest person who didn't want to deal with it and told us to call back when the other manager is working because she was not the one during the time we stayed. I asked her if housekeeping might had found it and she said she will call me back and let me know. She never called back and when I called again a few days she just said no. (By her tone and how quickly she answered I am sure they didn't give a hoot or tried at all). Fast forward couple days ago, in November 2021, I get a notification that my iPhone has been turned on at another location in Phoenix: Then couple days later a man who claims he only speaks Spanish so his friend calls and says he has my phone. 1.we stopped nowhere but the hotel as we were just passing by. 2. We don't live there. He demanded we pick up our phone and he refused to help us out by dropping it off at the post office whenever he has time. I even offered to pay him. He clearly wanted to steal it as it took 6 months for them to turn it on and it should had been turned in at the front desk not another location. In the end, the staff can not be trusted. read more
