Next day without a good nights sleep. Look at my bags under my eyes. I look like a train hit me.

So decided to stay here 2 days using our points in Dec after our cruise before heading back to the US, because they had an airport shuttle. Big mistake, do not stay here in the winter months as they dont have the AC on in the rooms. So you are expected to open the windows and next to the hotel is warehouses with trucks blaring the horns at 4am. How do you expect to sleep? I brought it up with local mgmt with no response. How can a hotel have their AC off just to save energy at the customers expense of sleep. Also since its a US chain, the controls should be in english vs spanish. Thats crazy. Im sure other months are ok. Lesson learned, in Barcelona its easy with the Metro, no need to stay here because its close to the airport. Will not come back. I thought i slept ok, but look at the bags under my eyes the next day. Yikes i look like a train hit me. Plus, if you are asian, they have no sensitivity training here and will give you room numbers that offend you. Such as 224, 424. They responded in email that they had no idea. Their CEO is asian give me a break. A lot of things can be overlooked if the customer has a good nights sleep. Without it here is the outcome. First time this happened to me for a US chain. I know its not the chain because we stayed at another BW before our cruise and they had AC. The problem is this hotel specific. I usually dont complain, but my wife was real upset. Caveat emptor.

A late-ish arrival in Barcelona meant a decision to plop down for the night and pick up our car the next morning. We have been pleasantly surprised with Hotel Alfa. You don't expect much from airport hotels, my experience has been of rather dark, uninspiring buildings and overworked cheerless staff. The rooms are light and modern, there were quite a few little extras in the bathroom, the staff were welcoming and helpful. We are very glad that we did rest for the night before starting our holiday properly. We thoroughly recommend this hotel. They organise free transportation from/to the airport, ring ahead to arrange.

Room was clean, big with a beautiful bathroom. The nerd in me was impressed by the computer panel which controls the elevator system. There are 4 elevators for use. On each floor outside the elevators is a touch screen computer panel in which you select where you need to go - floor number or restaurant name. The computer figures out the elevator which can take you to your destination fastest and displays the number on the screen. After the display is shown the elevator arrives within seconds. The floor number is pre-selected when you step in. You cannot select the floor from inside the elevator. This was a very efficient system and I wish all hotels adopt it. They also serve delicious breakfast and the spread is huge. Every single thing that I tried on the breakfast was of excellent quality. The servers even come to your table and ask you if they can bring you coffee or juice. The empty plates are immediately removed and the tables cleaned. L1 metro line starts from the 'Hospital de Bellvitge' stop which is opposite to Hotel Hesperia. That gives you the advantage of pick your seat on the metro journey. If you are taking the metro to/from the airport, you'll have to change from L1 to L9 at Torrassa station. Airport is about 10 minutes away by taxi, so you might not want to go the metro route. By metro, hotel is about 30 minutes to beach or La Rambla street and 1 hour to Parc Guell. So it's definitely not in the center where you can walk to the happening places.

The room was spacious, with the biggest bathroom/closet area I've ever seen. The elevator control pad asks your destination and lets you know which car to use. The curtains are controlled with the push of a button. Everything feels and is luxurious. And as of the time of this review the price is incredibly good value. This hotel is located a quick walk (less than 5 minutes) to the Hotel Bellvitge metro stop.

Stayed here at the end of a work trip for four days…read more The Good Great location within walking distance of anything and everything. Beautiful, well-appointed building, lobby sitting areas, restaurant, etc. Staff were friendly and very accommodating with bag storage, delivering bags to our room before we returned, restaurant recommendations and more. The rooftop is big with pool, bar and a number of seating areas for a 360 view of the city. Relaxing place to sit with a drink. Spa in basement is nice with all amenities. You have to reserve use and it's capped at 30 mins. Rooms are decent size allowing for suitcases and still moving around room. Bathroom is clean and has everything needed including heated towel rack and bidet. Although robes weren't included we found some at spa we used for the remainder of our trip. Lobby is very spacious and comfy, and there is live music in Thur-Sun. Great place to relax with a drink after exploring all day. Breakfast was extensive and a nice start to each day. Included made to order as well as plenty of ready made options for all palettes. The Not as Good We reserved both a superior and classic room but couldn't tell the difference for an additional 130 euros. The front desk said the superior had "more light." Potentially but not sure that was described as difference for what we paid. The rooms lack power outlets. Nothing by bedside. USB by desk but no USB-C or Int'l plugs. We had phones plugged in behind chairs, tea kettle sitting on floor, laptop in bathroom... The subway is underneath the hotel and even though we're on the 4th floor it was loud with lots of vibration. We had Do Not Disturb on for our entire trip but staff entered regardless and made up room. Not a big deal but surprised us and meant we had to put our belongings away every time we left not knowing who would enter when. Overall it was a pleasant stay and we would come back but many hotels we passed by looked like good options as well.

It was about a 15 minute drive to La Rambla which was not bad at all, and it was kind of nice to get away from the crowds and city traffic at the end of the night. Hotel management is friendly; when we checked out, one of the staff went out of his way to get some ice for my food that I needed to keep cold. The one problem I have seen with hotels in Spain is that their "double bed" room has two smaller beds set SIDE BY SIDE with no gap in between. Is that cheaper than just putting in one bed?? What's the point of having two beds if you're going to stick them next to each other? The only "1-bed" room they had available for our stay was on the first floor next to the elevator which we accepted, but the elevator woke me up several times throughout the night. I will note though that I am a very light sleeper, and my boyfriend was not bothered by it at all. I'm rounding up the stars since the staff was friendly and we were able to get free parking for both nights (from a staff tip) on the side street which was very convenient. Don't park in the garage because that'll cost you a pretty penny.

The hotel is conveniently…read morelocated less than a block from the nearest metro station and was maybe a 10 minute ride from the airport. We arrived late at night but check in was easy and seamless. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. I initially thought the comforter would be too thin but I was the perfect temperature all night and slept like a baby. The area seems quiet as it is located close to the convention center and office buildings. The only downside to this is that there are not any good dining options close by. The hotel offers a 9 Euro breakfast buffet which I thought was a decent value. They had plain, chocolate, and cream filled croissants as well as a variety of breads and donuts. There was cheese, an assortment of cold cuts, prosciutto, and a few different types of salami. Fruits included apples, bananas, kiwi, and tomatoes. Hot food included scrambled eggs, ham, hot dogs, and a Spanish tortilla. There was also yogurt and probably a few other things I am forgetting. Drinks included assorted juices, water, and a variety of different coffee beverages from a coffee machine. Food is important to me and I enjoyed the breakfast. There is free WiFi in the lobby but unfortunately you have to pay if you want to access the internet from your room. That's really the only complaint I would have but we came in with that knowledge. This Travelodge was a good value and we enjoyed it very much. It is a little ways rom the city center so it may not be the best option if you will be going into the city multiple days in a row. However, it was a great option for something close to the airport.

The flowers were a surprise but the hotel lost the card that came with the flowers and did not deliver the card to her so she had no idea who the flowers were from until I reached out to her to ask her if she got the flowers I sent. There was also a significant delay from the time the flowers were delivered to the hotel until they were taken up to her room. The hotel's excuse was that the flowers were just left on the counter with no explanation. Not likely. I am very disappointed in this hotel, their lack of hospitality, and their lack of value for their hotel guests.
