We called and told Nate that we would be a late check in close to 11 pm and he didn't indicate any issues with doing so. When we checked in, we were not given our reservation. They took it upon themselves to change our reservation to a one queen bed tiny bedroom with a bathtub. The reason we reserved what we did was because my spouse is mobility challenged and it is unsafe to step in and out of standard bathtubs. In addition, with all the taxes and a $50 hold on my credit card for incidental expenses, the total was over $249!! When I checked in last night, I told the desk attendant that my husband had reserved a king suite with roll in shower and she told me that they made the decision without our permission to change us to the queen with bathtub. We were too tired after a long day to go elsewhere and they only offered to change us to a king with a bathtub. We were also told that "our accessible rooms are only queen beds" which I found to be an unusual statement as we approach a couple stays shy of diamond status in 7 months this year. Also, the pool room and exercise room were inaccessible during posted operating hours. Our room keys worked fine for the hotel room, but only flashed red and would not unlock for the pool and exercise rooms. Very sad as we drink a lot of water and the filtered water fountain was located in the exercise room. We have enjoyed staying at other Embassy Suites, but not this one. We will not stay nor recommend this St Louis airport Embassy Suites. The hotel is old and dirty. The room was tiny and definitely not cleaned well. Mini fridge was sticky and I had to wipe down all the tables, surfaces, switches and handles and the washcloth that turned brown as a result. Holes in the bedroom walls. Ceiling had peeling paint as if the sprinkler system caused damage and a poor repair job was performed by just applying paint. There was an unmarked vehicle out front last night with a red and blue flashing light. I forgot something in our car and went out where we parked which was all the way in the back of the hotel. (Not enough handicap parking spaces). As I ventured out, I saw a gentleman walking in the parking lot. That gentleman had a shirt that said police on the back of it and he was heading back toward the vehicle in front of the hotel. I don't know if he was off duty, or assigned. When we ate breakfast this morning, one of the employees tending, the tables told us that he was from St. Louis and that the area is terrible in his words. I'm just grateful that my prayers were answered that our car was OK come morning. There were no baggage carts last night when we checked in. When I inquired last night, I was brushed off by saying that they were either in use or in peoples hotels rooms. They didn't even offer to look on surveillance footage to see if they could locate one in the hallway. This morning there was one available and it was absolutely disgustingly filthy. I used it, but put a clean towel down before I put our belongings on it. The positives: kitchen staff were friendly. Gentleman who made the omelets and pancakes did a wonderful job. The queen mattress was a welcoming supportive firm. The ac & heat worked which is necessary for us. The room was set at 73 on heat when we arrived and by 8 am was down to 65 degrees on air conditioning. In my opinion, it was not right to change our reservation without our permission. Had they contacted us first, we would have been more understanding. But as a result of not honoring our confirmed reservation, my husband had to have a sponge this morning. I hope Hilton reads this review and reaches back out to me. This was not professional at all how we were treated.

My nephew drove our car to see other relatives there, the car had been previously registered, so it was on the list. The hotel accused my relatives of not paying for my nephew, so they towed the car on a Saturday about a mile away and of course the lot was closed on Sunday so an extra day. It cost me $450 for a one mile tow. Obviously a sweetheart deal. I documented it in a review and they recognized the name and said if I didn't withdraw the review they would throw my relatives out, so I had to. At the prices this place charges, it could be a decent place, but it reeks and is just nasty as can be. I understand the need to follow rules, but it's pure predation. The desperate are just victimized over and over again.

If you are in desperate need of finding a place to live, I still would not recommend this place…read more The customer service here is absolute TRASH!!! and that's being nice. The place has no hot water in their rooms and there has not been a notice posted on a wall or slid under a door regarding the issue. It's been like this for about 3 weeks. The laundry room is terrible. You have to go across the street and spend cash to wash your clothes because the dryers can't dry your clothes. You've got residence smoking in the halls which creeps into your room giving it the most odious stench of roadkill. Not to mention it's rodent infested. So unless you absolutely have nowhere else to go, DO NOT COME HERE!!!

I knew I wasn't going to get the nicest hotel ever, but, sheesh, I didn't know it was going to be this bad. I was greeted with a musty smell as I went into the lobby. I didn't really think much of it as I checked in. The woman at the front desk was pleasant and efficient. She gave us our room number and we went up to the third floor. The first thing we noticed was the horribly stained carpet and the poorly patched holes in the wall. Then the smell of cigarette smoke hit us. And it hit us hard. I think we both had a feeling of dread as we opened the door to the room. Much to our surprise, the room was clean and smelled OK. It had a faint musty smell but it was tolerable. The worst thing about the room was the way that sound carried throughout the building. It was hard to sleep through all the noise -- people slamming their doors, various conversations, TV noise... It was a loud weekend. The staff was pleasant, the room was so-so, but the rest of the building is a run-down mess. All I can say is that I'm glad I only spent $20/night to stay there, and I won't do it again.

The kickback perk is great! Three free cocktails/beer/soda and heavy appetizers. We loved taking advantage of it. The room was larger than expected. Enjoyed the walk in shower. I was surprised at how little noise we heard in the halls from other guests. You are in the city so you'll hear noises like sirens. The parking lot did seem to fill up quickly at night but I think that was due to the attached restaurant. We will be looking for this hotel chain on future travels.
