Not the best anymore :(
Lexy M.

They changed everything :( not the best anymore. Now there's onions in the crab Rangoon and everything is pretty much frozen then fried. I don't think they actually make anything anymore :( Last two times I asked for hot oil and extra general tsos sauce last two times I got neither.

Shrimp lo mein, classic egg roll and shrimp egg roll.

By far the only take out chinese place I trust in Jamestown. They have big portions and are quick. Staff is friendly and the prices are great.

The people who work here are nice and the food is ok as far as Chinese food goes. The portions are massive which is a plus. My go-to here is General Tso with the crab rangoon. My biggest gripe about this place is that they STILL won't take credit cards. And depending on the day/time you may need to go back downtown to get cash from an ATM. Food is usually ready within 15-20 minutes which is impressive considering they get some high volume orders at times.

Good sized and perfectly fried. Cabbage flavor is excellent and the shrimp is whole.

This place makes some amazing food. Don't sleep on it! I've tried the Happy Family and it's was great.

Always provides awesome food and quick service. Just remember they are a cash only business. Worth the trip to the ATM first.

Best Chinese food in town. No frills but always good! Only downfall is it's cash only.

Absolutely terrible now and extremely overpriced. They went from being the best in town (under old…read moremanagement and ownership) to worse than the buffet in the mall...even worse than the gross China star in Brooklyn Square by cvs. No more pork in the gyoza, egg rolls, or fried rice. Tiny portions. The place looks like a storage facility now. Less fish in the expensive sushi. I'd recommend Wegmans or arctic bites sushi over this. Arctic bites fried rice over this. Just avoid.

The lack of care and cleanliness makes me question the kitchen's current state. A deep cleaning would do a lot of good here. I know this restaurant, like a lot of others, has taken a huge hit since covid but that's no excuse for a lack of pride in your business. All of the staff I encountered were very friendly but I interrupted them while they were eating in the dining room As far as the food, the current cooks seem to specialize more with the Chinese dishes. I ordered Thai red curry and I could barely eat it. The chicken was too soft which was unappetizing. I don't know why there was pineapple in it either. My sister and I both found a hair in our food. The salad was just iceberg lettuce and nothing else. If I were to order here again, I would only get something like beef with broccoli to be safe.

So this place has been around forever. I've frequented the actual buffet, which is typically pretty…read moredecent for American Chinese fair, especially since it's the only Chinese buffet option outside of Olean or Buffalo. But after trying a takeout order for the 3rd time, I cannot recommend doing take away from here. SERVERS: The service is swift, it's happy, very friendly actually for typical brisk Asian style service. They handle the buffet efficiently and are always asking if you're doing well. The lady who took my to-go order over the phone was kind, she even called me back to say they were out of something I ordered and offered a substitute. TO-GO ORDER: This is where it all went downhill. I know sometimes if you make to-go orders, they pull stuff directly off the buffet instead of making something new. Which is whatever, honestly, I'd have preferred what was on the line to what I received. a) Black Pepper Chicken: On the line it's crunchy, crispy and caramelized chicken and onions with a hint of black pepper. What I got in my container was bits of soggy chicken literally floating in non-thickened sweet sauce. So much in fact that it leaked out of the containers edges all over the bottom of the bag. Luckily it was double bagged so it didn't get on my seats. b) Buttered Sea Food: On the line it's fake crab and baby shrimp sautéed with garlic, butter and parsley and a little something extra (I think sesame oil myself) and it's awesome over rice. I ordered a small container of this without the shrimp, because sometimes the shrimp aren't clean and I prefer to skip that. It was okay but there wasn't a lot of the butter sauce, so everything on top was very dried out. I only live 10 minutes away, so it shouldn't be like that after such a short time. c) They were out of the smoky, garlicky green beans and offered to sauté some broccoli in the same style. This also came floating in pool of slightly seasoned water. Like it was blanched and tossed in the container without draining before they dumped sauce on, instead of actually sautéing it. I'd have just rather passed on it. d) The egg drop soup came off the buffet line, so it was fine. It's not the best I've had but it's not the worst either. I'd call it passable and it was the most edible thing from the order, after I added some garlic chili paste. Now this is the only the latest to-go order mistakes. The first two times saw issues as well, like missing food, incorrectly made food and food that is usually dryer instead begging for a lifeline from an ocean of sauce. Honestly, for $30 for takeout, I expect better quality and consistency. If you can make it nice and tasty for the buffet line, you should be able to do the same for the take-out option. It's going to be a while before I add this place back into my rotation.
