Where asking a question feels like you're interrupting someone's day. So today, when I took my son to Ted's Hot Dogs. This is a place I've been going to since the 1900s (as my kids love to remind me ). I didn't expect much. Things had changed since my childhood days, but the food had always remained good! I just missed the days when the same guy worked the grill and knew my name and my order by heart. But then, today... There was Karen. Yes, Karen!! Standing over a grill in 117° Arizona heat, she greeted us with patience, kindness, and an actual smile. She let my son take his time ordering without making him feel rushed. And when the ketchup was empty, she didn't shrug it off or point us in another direction. She didn't hand me a thousand little packets since the pump was empty. She simply took care of it. Was it just ketchup? Sure. But it also wasn't. It was someone choosing to care. When other patrons had notified other staff multiple times it was out - Karen found a simple solution without excuses! These days... that feels rare. We've spent years turning the name "Karen" into a punchline. But today, I met the kind of Karen the world could use a whole lot more of. If you're her manager and you're reading this... take good care of her. Promote her. Clone her if science ever figures that out. Because people like Karen don't just serve food - they create loyal customers who keep coming back!! In a world that tells us what a "Karen" is... be this Karen.

We waited in line to to order and after waiting about 25 minutes, we were helped. The cashier was stressing but was friendly. We ordered three traditional hot dogs with everything on top and a side of bacon cheese fries. Since it was national glizzy day, our hot dogs were supposed to be BOGO. We sat down and waited another 25 minutes until finally our buzzer beeped. We picked up our tray and noticed we were only given 5 hot dogs, not 6. We didn't mention anything just because we saw how busy it still was. The hot dogs were actually pretty good. They were a decent size and flavorful. We really liked the bacon fries and it was enough to share between us three. There was an employee keeping the tables clean and picking up trash - he was friendly. Will de be back to try out some more food!

We went late at night and it wasn't as good as it has potential to be. The quesibirrias were so good for me. They were tiny and the juicy. They broke immediately after biting into it but it broke evenly to eat in pieces. We also got a FOOTLONG SONORAN HOTDOG. It's perfect for 2 people. I had an horchata that was so huge! Literally! But it was the last bit and it was TOTALLY worth it. It was refreshing and delicious. The only sad part was the bar has sooo much potential but the little tiny cups for lime and cucumber is so sad. It's the perfect size for their spicy salsas though. They are hot, so beware! Definitely has a lot of potential for sure. I hope to comeback soon when the birria is fresh! (;

When I entered, I was thinking I had made a mistake. The place was abuzz bit dingy looking. Ceiling tiles were water stained and dirty looking. The tile floor had some broken pieces and chunks missing. But, I was there. So I ordered two orders of the three queso birria tacos with consume, to go. The woman behind the counter was very pleasant and more than helpful. As I waited, I grabbed some salsa and limes from the fairy well stocked condiment cart. After ten or fifteen minutes, I got my order. There were around 6 or 7 people ahead of me, so it was a reasonable wait. I took my order and went home. This is where my opinion was changed. There was a decent amount of filling in the tacos. I took a sip of the consome, and was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful it was! No grease layer on top (like so many others I have tried), just a well seasoned and savory broth. I dressed my tacos with lime and salsa, dipped into the consome, and took a bite. What a pleasure! The meat was tender, juicy and well seasoned. Not overdone with the cheese. Just a great bite! Goes to show you can't judge a book by its cover. Well done Los Mayitos!

It has that old-town charm that's getting harder and harder to find these days.
