Best Donuts is a nice, comfortable place to enjoy a pastry and cup of coffee. When you first walk in, you are greeted by a friendly welcome. When it comes to pastry they have the required sweet and savory treats. I was a little disappointed that the doughnuts were a bit chilled and cold. Maybe it's asking too much to get a doughnut warm to the touch. The coffee was good. However the Kolaches, breakfast tacos and other menu items were ok. Not great but satisfying. read more

I almost immediately determined the name of this shop was going to be misleading BUT I WAS SO WRONG! I feel like I need to share my story and experiences at this bakery with people! I am now a TRUE BELIEVER that this bakery has THE BEST DONUTS in Houston, if not in Texas... I, by all means, should have never liked this bakery at ALL! I originally judged the bakery so much that I had determined that it was going to be awful before I ever ate any or EVEN WENT INTO the shop. I figured it was just a misleading marketing tool and refused to give them any wiggle room for any errors. (Quick relevant sidenote... i was on the hunt to find the best Donut shop in Houston with some friends so I literally felt like I needed to be serious to get the best results for my search outcome.) i truly set myself up to hate this bakery but I had such a good experience that it has NOW taken over as mine (AND MY FRIENDS) ALL TIME FAVORITE DONUT SHOP in Houston, and Possibly the best Donut in Texas not even exaggerating a little bit. At that time, I was so tired of the same old Shipley donuts or dunkin Donut type shop having nasty donuts that would get sweaty and moist... have all the frosting cleaned off the Donut within 2-5minutes at most... having HORRIBLE SERVICE to the point where I would refuse to go back for months at times bc it was that disgusting. Don't forget how the inside of the Donut is hard and chewy. I honestly started to lose faith in the Donut industry and was beginning to lead myself to think my taste buds changed... but they didn't. This bakery truly has the best donuts around and It might be the best I've ever had. They have the SOFTEST DONUT insides. at times I have described the taste as having a fluffy inside that goes so well with their specialized donut frosting. The frostingx literally, melts in my mouth with the Donut to make such a smooth tasting donuts! the chocolate frosting isn't too rich like most of the other bakery's donuts are... their master chef specially makes that frosting so that the taste of the frosting doesn't overpower the taste of the other ingredients. (I know that bc I've had many discussions with the master chef now discussing many aspects of their baked goods. You MUST try this place if you haven't! WARNING THOUGH! The bakery shop location was originally a little tough to spot while on 1960 especially during HEAVY TRAFFIC times. Their shop is right across the street from the shopping center that houses the Italiano restaurant and green automotive store. They are also next to the java coffee shop and a little salon shop for hair/nails. They are the last shop located in that shopping plaza and literally have some windows that will face out looking directly into the trees/wooded surrounding. Don't be discouraged if you had a little trouble finding them on your own. Give the bakery a call and ask. The people have GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE and truly give GREAT SERVICE. They are ALWAYS FRIENDLY with EVERY CUSTOMER and TAKE PRIDE IN what they make and serve! Need to have an order held...? Call in advance and set it up. They really have gone out of their way to make sure that I've been able to have a good quality experience every time. The chef takes so much pride in their baked goods that I've seen them throw out a full batch of donuts and remake the entire batch all bc the batch wasn't up to par. IVE NEVER SEEN THAT AT ANY OTHER BAKERY OR DONUT SHOP!! Their staff has also asked me about my experience bc they wanted to VERIFY that I've been having quality baked goods and are enjoying them! This bakery is top notch and have such quality service. They take pride in their service/product and enjoy serving goods that people enjoy. You MUST TRY THIS PLACE IF YOU HAVENT YET! The only advice I have is to not make a full judgement/opinion of them until going in and trying them! I love their chocolate frosted long johns and original chocolate frosted donuts. Their glazed donuts are SO good too where I think they are better than Krispy Kreme glazed donuts (which was once thought of as my favorite unbeatable glazed Donut or, at least, until tasting Best Donuts' Donuts!) everything I've tried has been good though so you REALLY Can't go wrong! read more

So I thought I loved Shipley's and only Shipley's, when my boyfriend introduced me to this place I found my new love, Best Donuts. The kolache's are out of this world, the bread bun is so soft so yummy, they have a variety to choose from which includes sausage and cheese, pepperoni and cheese, ham and cheese, boudin and cheese, and my personal favorite sausage jalapeño and cheese, they also offer these without cheese if you are dairy free. The donuts are divine, try the fruit loop topped donuts with the single donut hole on top. It was my first time there and surprised to see varieties of donuts and kolaches. I'm from San Antonio area and this place really makes me feel like home. Their location is like hidden in the woods, but Javaman Coffee and Dry Clean are the 2 places easier to look for and they're all located in the same shopping street. Across the bridge from Huffman, this place is totally hidden from the street until I see Javaman Coffee then I know it's there especially in the dark in early morning. I don't understand the business concept of turning people away if they don't have cash. You're a donut shop. Most of your transactions are less than 5$. The donuts are just okay. They usually run out of the donuts that you want. And if you don't buy 5$ or more worth of donuts don't try to using a debit card because they would rather turn the business away if you don't have cash on you. read more

I've gone here about 5 or 6 times because they are close. And I am always disappointed. The donuts have very light icing- anything to save .01 on every donut I suppose.
