I could have sworn I had already shared the gem that is this amazing store. I've been coming here for years to find inexpensive yard and holiday decorations, home décor, and all those little things that can make a house feel more like home. Old Time Pottery was founded in 1986 by Jack Peterson in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The store originally focused on pottery, but eventually expanded its selection to include a wide variety of home décor, furniture, and other merchandise. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2009 and again in 2020. In April 2023, Old Time Pottery was acquired by Gabe's, an off-price retailer headquartered in Morgantown, West Virginia. The acquisition included 30 Old Time Pottery stores across 11 states. The merger expanded the selection available to shoppers, and today the combined company operates more than 166 Gabe's and Old Time Pottery locations across 20 states. If you're planning to shop at Old Time Pottery, bring your comfy walking shoes because this place is HUGE! There is so much to look through, from seasonal and holiday décor to home goods, furniture, linens, florals, pet items, clothing, accessories, and plenty more. It's the kind of store where you can go in looking for one thing and easily leave with several others you didn't know you needed. On my latest visit, I was shopping for a few finishing touches for a bathroom remodel. One of the things I love about Old Time Pottery is that the prices are already affordable, and many items have additional discounts. There's also a clearance section in the back that is worth checking out. No matter what your decorating style or budget they have something for you here. I have been shopping at HomeSense and appreciate the unique items the store carries, which is why it was especially disappointing to walk away from an $800 sale over what ultimately felt like a customer-service and communication issue. I would appreciate having this experience reviewed, particularly the inconsistent information provided by management and the way the situation was handled. My hope is that this can be addressed so other customers do not have a similar experience.

He stated some are better than the others for durability like Nucore & Durolux and still need to see the different ones that are offered . The one I was choosing was less expensive and happened to match better but when I tried the sample at home it did scratch easily with a flathead(I did as an experiment) as he had previously mentioned. He said not to drag furniture or anything that may scratch it. He said I needed a blue bottom cover for the floor underneath but u are if I actually need it . I decided to head back the next day and exchange the one I had with the one that was more durable to last longer since it would not be warrantied if any scratches were to occur. I also purchased a tool to install it if needed . I wanted to purchase and match a marble piece that I already have in the area going into the other rooms. He took me to the area and we picked a piece out. Additionally, I had the transition piece to match. He loaded the car for me. When I returned the next day it was busier. Another guy assisted me but was told to go to another customer and someone else helped me. He took the ones I purchased out of the car but there was a bit of a delay at the registers when I returned because customers were also returning and purchasing. There was a gal vacuuming at the time we came by. The vacuum was heating up and smoking a bit, so she was concerned. There were also some students or volunteers or young new employees -- I couldn't tell which -- being given a tour of the store as we were there. Both were a bit distracting. They have some inventory that will appeal depending on what you're looking for... they don't have much furniture wise. There's a bit of a bunch of different things --linens, housewares, silverware, electronics, books, clothing etc., etc. Most things are organized together by category. Price wise, it's a mix of decent prices and high prices. They have some of the more expensive items near the counter. We didn't love something enough to buy anything here. But we are still glad we came to check them out.

I have shopped this kind of discount store before and for me it is hit and miss depending on what they have in that day. Here they have the bins in the middle of the store. What you pay depends on the day of the week, Friday's $12, Saturday's $10, Sundays $8. By the time you get to Wednesday everything in the bins is $4. They restock on Thursday evenings. I stopped in on a Friday afternoon so the bins had the best selection but they were also the most expensive. In addition to the bins they have other items around the perimeter of the room at set prices, up to 90 percent off retail. I saw clothing, a lot of perfume, household items, holiday decorations, and small appliances. The friendly staff was at the ready to open any boxes I wanted to see and plug in the appliances to verify they worked. I saw a Le Creuset stock pot for only $29. They had a lot of household goods like dishes, sheets, blankets, pillows, and decorations. If you are setting up a new home and aren't picky this would be an inexpensive way to do so. If you are set on a specific brand you may find yourself out of luck. While I left empty handed it is always fun to stop and check out this kind of store because you never know what you will find.

Their hours had just been updated on Yelp but for some reason, they were not open. They had a sign on the door that said WE ARE OPEN BUT PICKING UP INVENTORY so we waited a bit and then called. A male answered as if it were a personal line..."hello...?" There was a child screaming so close to the phone that I could not hear him well. I told him I was outside of the store and suddenly a woman came on the phone. I told her I was outside of the store and her reply was..."Noooo, noooo, not todayyyy." I had to ask her to repeat herself!! I'd heard correctly, "Not todayyy." Then she asked, "What do you need?" I told her "nevermind" and promptly ended the call out of frustration! This is what kills me about some small businesses. We drove all the way there after finding them on Yelp and liking the furniture in the photos. My suggestion, CALL FIRST or dont go at all because based on them not showing up to their business on a Saturday when they claim to be open, should leave you cautious about doing business with them.
