Unfortunately, it looks like they're having a going out of business sale. So many empty shelves. Needed 3 memory cards. They only had 2. Everything: returns, purchases, in store pick up is handled via one line at the customer service desk. Seems like a lot of wasted space. Can't imagine what they're paying in rent for such a large store with minimal inventory Corporate America at its worse. Avoid this store at all costs, they allow scammers from Verizon to scam customers. Last month I went to Best buy and I had one talk me into getting a new cellphone, he LIED to me said the phone was free, he LIED to me said I would be paying the same $65 as T-mobile. Two days later when I signed up for Verizons customer website I found out I owed them $1100 for the phone and I would be paying $150 a month for the service. I immediately returned the phone, cancelled the plan, a month later I got a bill for $1,128 and if you can believe it a threatening letter from a debt collector! I bought a high end TV for my family room, paid for delivery and installation and was scheduled in the store. My delivery was canceled on the day of service. After 3-4 hours on phone with the "customer service" staff, I was told I was rescheduled for the following week. The next day when I looked, it did not appear that I was scheduled for any date. I again called the service line and was told I had no delivery scheduled. I was transferred to another person who refused to schedule the delivery unless my husband got on the phone to confirm the rewards account and ok the delivery (seriously??!!). I asked to cancel the order multiple times and was told I cannot do that because it is "out for delivery". I'll be driving to the store today to cancel my order and go somewhere else to buy a TV. Worst retail experience ever. On July 3rd, I bought a Spotify gift card for the $99 annual membership. I gave it to my daughter the minute I arrived home. She tried numerous times to activate it and every time, she got the message that said, "This code is invalid." I tried it as well, and still no luck with the activation. I immediately called the Riverhead store and was told by an employee to come in and they will give me a new card. So it began my 1 hour of the frustrated experience with the "so called" managers that were too busy hanging out by the front of the store on their phones, to truly be in service to a customer. It was less than one hour since I purchased the card. The first "manager" was JP (I believe) and he told me that isn't store policy and I had to call Spotify. I told him that I was told to come back for a new card and drove 35 minutes to get back there. I shared my frustration that no one told me when I purchased it that store policy is that I can't return it (that should be shared every time by an associate). I tried Spotify while I was there on chat and kept getting disconnected. I then looked for a customer service number and there is none available. When I asked for JP again, I was told he left and I was left with Anthony to service me. This kid should not be running a store. He is insensitive and rude and basically told me that he couldn't do anything. I told him between my boyfriend and I, we spent $1000 that day and the least he could do is see if there's a way to resolve this. He gave me no offer to call corporate or to resolve my issue or help in any way. Instead, he looked annoyed that I was bothering his time on his phone. It's now going on 3 days and still no resolve either from Best Buy or Spotify. Best Buy in Riverhead lost yet another customer. Buy your products and gift cards elsewhere. read more

What a scam....we are having issues with our computer and called best buy to see if we could get an appointment and if there was a fee. We were told there is no fee for diagnostics, so we made the appointment. We arrived to our appointment, and were told, without anyone looking at our computer, that it would be $150. I purchased an open box Sony Bravia 65" excellent condition supposedly with all accessories and was verified by it's totaltech support team that it should be. But when I ask for the missing accessories no one is willing to give you proper answer and just told me that it's an open box it is what it is. And when I went back the following morning the Manager was sarcastic and the other staff just told me just return the item. Most of the staff I dealt with in Riverhead Best Buy are rude, unwilling to help and just doing their job with out any customer rapport. Wanted to return it but was told it was over 14 days and couldn't get refund even though Best Buy had me buy the wrong item and couldn't make an exchange because no booster item would help my issue. Selection is great. Sales people are as shady as a used car salesmen. As a matter of fact the same tactics are used. Okay let me get a manager to get you the best price possible! Now I'm going to promise you the moon but when push comes to shove you get a raw deal. The delivery people even are shady and LAZY. We didn't even get the product off of the truck. They explained that it was impossible to get it up the stairs. BUT WAIT The salesman called back and explained that another mattress would be delivered and that he will give us another $350 off the price. What a joke. They delivered the mattress without concern. Got it up the stairs BUT THEN SAID THEY DONT INSTALL. Oh my God. I can go on. Still waiting for refunds and promises to be kept It ain't gonna happen. Don't buy. ANYTHING FROM THIS SHADY PLACE. Wish there was a no stars option. Wanted to return an item a few days after return date. Manager made it beyond clear that wasn't going to happen. I explained I knew that part of the policy is if a certain amount of money is spent with Best Buy within one calendar year the return date on the receipt is extended two extra weeks. I qualified for that offer and had receipts showing my purchases. Well, no go. Apparently you have to be a member of their "secret" card carrying club, so Best Buy can track your purchases ( I believe it's called "elite membership"). This was never mentioned once with any purchases I made. The manager was rude with zero apologies for anything ( seemed like he had a puffed up sense of power and control and he was running with it). They lost me as a customer but I'm sure a big conglomerate like them wouldn't really care. Oh and P.S. bought my son a screen protector for his phone there. They charged me $7 to put it on for me! The night before Thanksgiving I had to run in quick for a case and a glass screen protector and was immediately greeted by a gentleman in the front. When I walked over to the cell phone cases a woman helped me find them and got me a screen cover. At the checkout line there was a young woman who was extremely pleasant, professional and chatty. Staff is not helpful when busy, covid has made it worse since now you have to wait in a virtual line that the worker in the front puts you on...yea this is a horrible system since it ends up in more people in the store waiting for a case to be opened so they can just buy something. They will tell you your wait time is under 3 minutes and never pick up the phone. I ordered a laptop from them and they told me it would be here a certain Saturday so I drove to Best Buy to pick it up for them to tell me it was delayed, no email or text saying it was delayed, just wasted my time. One guy in the Electronic Dept. one guy, a very nice guy. I'm sure this is due to poor management. Also low stock tells me not very many shoppers. I don't think their prices are the "Best" either. At Riverhead Best Buy, everyone is always friendly and helpful. There are always plenty of people to ask for help. We've had associates approach us to ask if we needed help every time we've been in the store. I don't understand the negative reviews regarding assistance or stating there is lack of help. We've never experienced that. Steve was extremely helpful with several products. He helped us to purchase a camera that was the right fit for us. We never felt pressured or rushed. We have found the employees to be very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. Only thing I have an issue with is the Geek Squad insurance plan. We were told, as someone else stated, that if there was a problem with my son's computer, they would swap it for a new one. When we brought it in, we were told it would be sent out for repair. We just bought it for him for Christmas, spent about $2,500 with everything, and there is already a problem with the graphic's card. So you can imagine how upset we were. Our son is mostly on Xbox, so he hasn't used the computer much. Having an issue this early on at the price we paid for this computer is outrageous, now it is being repaired, and my son has to wait 2-3 weeks to get it back. Ridiculous. The associates selling the products need training on the coverage they're selling, so they stop giving customers the wrong info. I would've given 5 stars if it wasn't for this. read more

My daughter bought a laptop there today and I told her NOT to leave until she makes sure the security system is easily ready to go(I have had problems with them in the past while trying to install them at home). She told me they refused to help her at all with it. When she got it home, it clearly stated on the box the installation needed to be done in the store. I called them back and they told me to make an appointment with geek squad. No way, they are beyond overpriced . Unacceptable to NOT help someone with this so called simple installation. I was talked into a 159 dollar insurance policy on it, being told by the salesman and manager that if I have ANY problem with the device, I will walk out of their store with a new device! I say Nay Nay! My iPad stopped accepting a charger. I walked into the store, over to the Geek squad, and was told. Okay, we'll send you a refurbished iPad in about two or three days! I said whoa..Apple sells refurbished iPads for 299 dollars! What about the insurance policy, what about walking out with a new iPad! They said Nay Nay! I said I need my iPad to do my work on,..tough! I said then give me back my insurance money..nay nay! I had to go to Apple, which they told me was 15 min away. Try an hour. Terrible Performance!!! Does not even deserve one star I made two (2) appointments with the Geek Squad to schedule the replacement of the battery in my iPhone 6. When I arrived at the scheduled times I was told both days that it could not be done because "people are not there now" or "sorry, I have to cover the front and we are double-booked anyway", and "don't blame me I am not the scheduler". After I was rebuffed again in this manner for the second appointment I asked to speak to the manager. A "specialty sales manager" came over. He made an inquiry of the Geek Squad but made no constructive suggestions. I didn't even get a half-hearted apology, Clearly, Best Buy is in desperate need to hire reliable, customer-oriented staff who are much better trained in customer service. RIVERHEAD LOCATION WORST STORE ON LONG ISLAND. Safe yourself a ton of time and effort and never visit this location! I always say I will never go back, though since it is my local store I found myself there again when they say they have things in stock, they never do and blame it on a "system glitch" The real reason is this store is completely mismanaged. The don't stock properly and have the worst customer service. No one is ever on the floor to help. They are completely understaffed. If I could give them No stars I would. Rob Assistant Manager was completely rude when trying to explain my issue and not interested in helping at all, while making completely inappropriate comments that Best Buy's Corporate should be VERY concerned about. I asked him for his name and employee ID number to complain because it was seriously inappropriate and he walked away. I had to get it from another employee who was apologizing for his behavior. He was completely uninterested in helping in any way and more concerned with mocking customers and made it clear that since he was the only manager I was out of luck in getting the item I ordered and paid for and should go to Patchogue so he could go in the back on break. Major retraining required for this employee. I'm surprised with all the brick and mortar stores closing, hopefully this will be first on their hit list in such bad shape. From the kind of service I got from Best Buy online and in the Riverhead store, it seems as though they are going out of business. If they are not, they should! I have not been able to get through to anyone on the phone at the store for days. They just leave you listening to recordings and nobody answers. I tried ordering a toaster oven online and the robot who fills the orders cancelled my order three times since April 4th. Of course they charged me and credited me each time, driving me and my credit card company crazy. I have spent countless hours on the phone trying to talk to their 800 number, but the people are in the Philippines, not in the USA. Each time they said it was fixed and I got an email confirming the order and then the next day they sent me another email stating there was an error that occurred and cancelled my order. Geek squad protection package that they try to push on you is completely useless. I have a 55" samsung 4K tv that I purchased not even a year ago. I come home one day and the tv screen is half black. Geek squad comes to my home to check my tv and tells me that the 5 year protection plan that Best Buy sold me will not cover my tv because they "think" it is physical damage yet there is not a single mark on the outside of the tv. The techs they sent over even told me theres a crack on the inside layers of the tv. What a load of crap! Well been a Best Buy "elite" customer since 2007. Thanks for having my back Best Buy!
