Alex, at the "store pickup" counter was very rude, completely ignored me and interrupted me mid-sentence as I was trying to tell him we lost everything in a house fire and just needed his help locating our order that the central office of Best Buy sent our order to wrong store even though we confirmed it was the NH store. So Alex told us to just figure it out with the other store and then to go buy it over again....then they didn't even have it in stock..... however, Chris in Microsoft section was amazing and super helpful and amazing and the manager Jayden D was helpful with figuring out a way to get our product at a reasonable price and time! read more

False return policy online. I purchased 3 boxes of Green Mountain French Roast Coffee 96 count. I received 3 boxes of 24 count. Best Buy was aware of the error before the package shipped and never notified customers. Refused return even though they were aware of the error. The computer service received at Best Buy Newington, NH was not very good for fixing a computer problem I had. The Geek Squad left my computer in worst shape when I pick-up it up. The Laptop was only 1-1/2 old and I think the mode of operation was to make you think you needed a new computer, wrong. I went to the store and complained and they magically restored my settings and it worked fine. I had faith in them as being a honorable outfit but my experience with them was much to be desired. I go there a couple times a year. Usually happy with staff and products. That being said, it seems it's always with someone new. Each time I buy a laptop or netbook, I get it home to find two things. 1. It isn't all the sales pitch claimed. 2. It isn't the Best Buy. ie while in like foe an iPhone 15, they say the price is 750. I do a quick online search, 550. Another example, I bought a chrome book 249. Black Friday. Today they send me an email. Same thing 220. Do I get a rebate? Return it and buy a new one? Went in to swap some soda stream containers. Asked the Online Pickup where I should go and he said he would help me. Fast. Efficient. Kind. The guy who provided service was great-wish I had gotten his name. I've done this here a few times and this was the fastest and easiest and he didn't need to ask 3 other people. We also looked at a few things, there still seems to be a good selection in this big store...every peg isn't full, but there is at least two of everything we were looking at. Stopped in to get an estimate for mounting 65" Samsung TV over the fireplace. Keep in mind, I bought the TV at Best Buy 3 months ago. $250 to set up and mount the TV on the wall. But I don't need it set up, just mounted. Too bad. That's the price, with or without set up. An additional $130 over the fireplace. Why? Because some people have stone. etc. over the fireplace. But I don't. Just plain old sheetrock and studs like any other wall. Tough - if it's over a fireplace, that's what we charge. If it's a gas fireplace, there will be an additional charge to look for possible gas line. Oh, and about $100 for a mount. Total $480+. No, Best Buy will not be mounting this TV or any TV I own in the future. read more

If you are looking for a repair do not waste your time and come here. I went in for a repair on an iPhone, and the Geek Squad was useless. They never ran a diagnostic on the phone and all they asked was "If I went to a concert in Boston last week" and "If I plugged my phone into an airport outlet." Complete waste of time and it is clear the staff lacks basic knowledge. If you need a repair on an apple product just go to an Apple Store instead. My best buddy Clarke came into best buy on Tuesday, July 18th and dropped off his phone to get his screen fixed. They supposedly attempted to fix his screen, but after he payed for the "fixing" and after he left, the screen just fell right off. They took his phone away from and he is about to miss his flight, so he does not know if he will get a phone sent to him in time. Geek Squad absolutely stinks and they are horrible at what they do, CLEARLY. They said they could not do anything about the screen falling off my phone. Called to see if there was a TV in stock I was told there was when I got there no TV In stock. The salesman told me not to believe anything from the people you call unless it's from geek squad. So I ordered the TV and then the sales person asked if I wanted to spend an extra 60 something dollars to have it delivered in two days. So after they told me, it's in stock I get there it's not in stock and now they want 60 something dollars to get it to me a little sooner. In mid-October I had a site survey for my new apartment and before he left he said that I would hear either the next day or the next week on whether someone needed to come out for a second site survey or whether they would quote me a price to set up my entertainment equipment brought from my last apartment. Horrible customer service. July 28, 2020 I did curbside pickup. I followed the email instructions and waited in my car for 15 minutes, the email confirmation said it would only take 5-10 minutes. I finally went in the girl at the counter asked for what I was waiting for and my name. They closed in 4 minutes. She said they were just so busy due to COVID and they would have eventually gotten to my order. I then asked her after the store closed? DON'T offer CURBSIDE pickup if you don't plan to do it. I will buy my vitamix somewhere else. I don't plan to shop at Best Buy anymore due to the horrible customer service. Very horrible service by this Best Buy's Geek Squad. I scheduled a IPhone battery replacement for Sunday, and when I arrived they said they couldn't help me because the only person who could do the replacement was out sick. Not a problem, I rescheduled for Tuesday, and when I went in they said that the person who could do the replacement had to go home early because he was sick. By this point I was wondering why they only have one person that is able to do battery replacements, but once again said not a problem and rescheduled for another day. Finally the guy who could do the battery replacement was in and they could get the process started. I was asked a couple of questions regarding my phone and battery usage and all was fine until I said I had a screen replacement that was not with Apple, and they suddenly told me that they couldn't do the service because the screen is not an Apple screen, and that if they put in the battery with a non-Apple screen my phone would fry. They also kept blaming my battery degradation on my screen replacement which I know is not an issue because I had the screen replaced a year ago with no problems. My phone's is battery is 3 years old it's bound to be degraded. Absolutely horrendous service, if they would've just gotten the questionnaire/diagnostics portion done the first day I wouldn't have had to go in three times just to be told they can't fix my phone. Or more communication about their only battery replacement guy being out so I wouldn't have to drive there just to be told there's no one able to do the replacement. The only thing this Best Buy Geek Squad did right was to refer me to NH IPhone Repair, who replaced the battery within 15 minutes and no my phone did not fry. read more

The customer service within their Geek Squad is TERRIBLE! I went in yesterday to have my computer looked at- some of the keys randomly are not working of my new Surface. I walked in to find three people at a table, having a full conversation. One man looked up at me and rolled his eyes. Then they proceeded to KEEP TALKING on their conversation for a good 3-5 minutes while I stood there. Finally the original eye-roller stood up and without me saying a word, just said "I can't help you." They were busy. Obviously. He said they didn't have any appointments until Thursday at 6- and he couldn't make an appointment for me. They literally were NOT looking at a computer. I was directed that I had to go online or call from a number on a business card he slid across the desk to book the appointment. "So I can't leave my computer with you and someone can look at it Thursday when they have time?" Nope. Then he TURNED AND JUST WALKED AWAY. It was terrible. I just said "okay" (politely) and turned to leave. I slept on it, and feel this really isn't right treatment. So here I am, telling you. Just wow. Sucks because I'm a very good customer. Big mistake. I took my iPad in to the Geek Squad to get their assistance with a 2-year warranty over a month ago. After receiving a call that the iPad was ready, I went to the store to pick it up. They made me wait for roughly an hour while they looked in the back for it; they then told me that someone had picked up the iPad while I was out of the country, which was obviously impossible. The General Manager, who was friendly and generally helpful, said that they needed to review security tape and check their records (that said, I had already been waiting for more than an hour at this point), but that they would mail me an iPad if they couldn't resolve the issue. Three days later, I called to check the status (because no one had called me) and I was told a strange, very different story about how the iPad was sent as an engraved iPad accidentally, which is why I hadn't received it yet--and that their telling me that someone had picked it up already was a mistake. If they couldn't resolve the issue by the end of the day, they said, they would mail me an iPad (which is fair, but still doesn't make up for the lost time and annoyance of all this). After another few days, this evening I called because I hadn't received word from them; they told me that someone had called (I don't have any voicemail or email from them) to let me know that I was to pick up my iPad. So bottom line: I've been given the run-around with multiple, changing stories, and I still don't have my iPad yet. Beyond that, apparently the expectation is that I'm supposed to go pick it up from the store, even after all of this hullabaloo and being told that they would mail it to me. Not pleased, to say the least, and will be considering just using Amazon from here on out. read more

Tried multiple times today to phone the store with a question about a pickup order. Managed multiple steps on their phone tree to have it ring and ring and finally disconnect. Next time, I tried a different branch on their phone options and again, ring ring and disconnect. I tried every possible option and all rang and then disconnected. Ended up going to the store and the nice young person at the pick up desk, told me that Yeah, there was no-one employed to answer the phones. I bought a new laptop for my college bound grandson 1 year ago, with the extended Geek Squad 3 yr warranty, the bottom of the laptop was separating from top so I made an appt. and brought it in. When I got there there were 4 techs at the counter no other customers, I explained the problem, the "head tech" didn't even look at it told me 2 to 3 weeks to repair, I was surprised and said thats ridiculous where is it going? He said Kentucky whats ridiculous about that. He said it might be an expanded battery that could blow up at anytime. Really? I could not leave the laptop he needs it for school. After doing research I found that if it were an expanded battery there would be other noticeable problems like not holding a charge. It's charging fine. I wish I had his name. I do have date and time. I did not leave the computer I'll get it fixed elsewhere.This is the last time I will buy at Best Buy and I will spread the word to friends, family and associates. read more

The Geek Squad (a euphemism for socially inept young adults that look & act like rejects from the Porky's movie franchise) are standing in a group of 5 talking about nothing while ignoring the 4 people in line. Finally, a Rachel Dratch lookalike comes over and without a hello bleats out "ya got an appointment?". Um, no. Last time I was here there were no appointments. "We'll have to get you in the system". Wait time 15 min. So I wait. The whole process could go faster if the Adam Sandler Waterboy cast member wasn't trying to impress the cute 20 something hottie from Rye NH with his Star Wars stories (not making that up). Then the Super long hair, laid back dude character comes over to ogle her too, finally relents when Dratch reminds him another customer is waiting. After trying to plug my PC into a monitor he starts quizzing me on its age. Who cares. Irrelevant. Finally we move to another table. I tell him it boots up in repair mode then shuts down. Well it booted up. He advised to back up the drive. I reluctantly took it back to my store. It booted up. Worked for 3 min then crashed and would not start. Same problem. All I wanted was someone to take it in, write up a work order for a bench test, fix it, charge me, return it to me. What I got was Joe Stoner saying "looks good dude". Aggggghhhhh! What a waste of 2 hours. Keep in mind I'm handicapped. This was excruciating!!! So the second time I made an appointment. Got there early and popped in to Staples to get office supplies. I noticed they have a tech desk too. I told the guy my story and he convinced me to bring it in. Problem fixed in a matter of 30 min. I cancelled my Geek Squad appt. read more

The good news is that they had what I wanted, and the employees I interacted with were all friendly and reasonably competent. The bad news is that the friendly, competent guy on the phone pulled a bait and switch on me, apparently with the full backing of management. (I don't know whether it's the store or the chain management.) I phoned, asking for a cable that has fallen out of favor: a Mini-USB -- the type we all used to charge our flip phones or candy bar phones with. (We want it to charge some fancy wireless headphones, because we left our charger home by mistake.) The guy on the phone said that they had lots of types of that cable, ranging from $5 to over $50, depending on the length and brand. Five bucks? Jackpot! OK, I asked, do you have any in stock? Yes, said the guy on the phone. Since I didn't really want to wait two days for Amazon while we're on vacation, I got in the car and headed for the store. In the actual store, I couldn't find any of the cables, but an employee help me find one. It wasn't $5 like the guy on the phone said. It was $15. Okay, $15 isn't a terrible price for a cable, what the guy on the phone said five dollars. That's bait and switch. The reason I think management is behind this is that during the phone menu to get to a person, it was a notification to the effect that employees are not authorized to give information on prices and availability. My guess is that employees are instructed to tell customers what they want to hear to get them into the store and, then they can point to the disclaimer during the phone menu. Good time to go is during a snow event, when most people are trying to get themselves out of ditches. Store wasn't overrun on a Saturday morning, though that does mean more associates looking for customers wandering in a daze. Actually, they weren't obnoxious about it and took "just looking" for an answer. We did eventually ask someone for assistance. Hubby had bought two 32" TVs elsewhere to use as desktop monitors (he likes a dual monitor arrangement) and needed DisplayPort to HDMI adapters. After meandering, and making me dizzy retracing steps more than once, he finally asked for guidance. Seamus knew exactly where to take us (right across from the Geek Squad counter, in case anyone else is looking for those things). We took two, then Seamus realized that one of them was wrong. The staff is a surly menagerie of small town dirtbags who are too cool for their jobs but not cool enough to have any marketable skills or bearable personalities. Picture Jesse's crew from Breaking Bad, but swap the cracked out juggalo look for the bearded hipster one. My experience of purchasing a TV at this location was so aggravating it bordered on surreal. After well over 15 minutes of trying to flag down an employee to make my purchase, I finally got one to talk to me: "Hi, I would like to buy this TV," I said. "Okayyyy..." he replied, bugging his eyes out and shaking his head, giving me a look like I had just ordered a sandwich in a hardware store. I nearly lost it - how could this idiot possibly be getting snotty with me for trying to put money in his pocket? Was a time, a fellow would catch a beatin' for this kind of transgression. I had a brief flash of the headlines in the local paper the next day: "Employee Has Beard Kicked Off in Best Buy Brawl." But instead I cooled down, counted to 10 and complained to the manager. He agreed to match the online price ($30 cheaper) for my trouble. Moral of the story: avoid the headaches and order online, of course. Brick&mortar is truly dead. read more
