    Review Highlights - Best Buy

This store I got a pleasant young lady that knew right away that there was none in stock but let me know that they get in stock often and check back at the end of the week.

I spoke with the receptionist, who said she would contact upper management and get back to me, but I never received a call. A couple of days later, I stopped by again, this time asking to speak with a salesperson, as an Apple service technician had recommended it. As soon as I started to explain my issue, the salesperson immediately refused to send my case to Apple, claiming it would cost too much. He then began yelling at me very loudly, telling me to leave because it was "private property," and verbally abused me, calling me names. I was in shock and couldn't believe how aggressively he was acting. I honestly felt scared, as if he might even become physically abusive. His name is Mark Nelson, and his behavior was completely unprofessional, frightening, and unacceptable. I will never return to this store, and I cannot recommend it to anyone. It was rude and disturbing, and I feel it's important to report this so that it doesn't happen to anyone else. Please avoid this store.

This significantly reduced the lifespan of software support and performance, something I believe should've been clearly disclosed at the time of sale. When I brought this up, the store claimed they didn't know the model year, but as a certified Apple retailer, I find that extremely hard to believe. Most recently, I returned to the store on April 7, 2025, to have the iMac checked, already knowing (based on Apple's own diagnostic support) that the issues were related to its age. I explained this to both the service desk and to Jessica, who helped me when I picked it up. Her customer service was not professional -- she appeared frustrated with the number of customers waiting and did not speak kindly or respectfully to anyone at the desk. Jessica brought my computer out from the back carrying it in her hands, not in the box I had originally provided for protection. I immediately noticed a substance smeared on the screen. When I asked about it, she responded dismissively, saying it was from her hands, then casually sprayed Windex on a cloth and wiped the screen -- a method that is not recommended for Apple displays. I was shocked by the lack of care and attention shown to such an expensive piece of equipment. For a premium product and premium price, this experience has left me feeling completely misled and disappointed -- both with the product I received and the treatment I received from staff. Not what I'd expect from an Apple-certified store. Now, just five years later, I'm left needing to purchase a new computer -- something I wouldn't expect after investing in what I believed was a brand-new iMac. I highly recommend that anyone considering a purchase from this store ask for -- and receive written proof of -- the computer's manufacturing date before completing a sale. Don't assume what you're buying is current just because it's being sold as new

I wish it was possible to give these guys a 0/5…read more I've been to uniway several times in the past 5+ years. They quoted us fairly for screen repairs, and I bought a laptop from them at one point. But after my experience with them this past week, I'm afraid I won't be returning. I brought my laptop in to them, as I'd woken up to find the hinge broken. It had separated from the panel, so when the laptop was opened, the bezel would pop off. I'm a chronically ill and disabled 18 year old who has been bed bound for the past several years, and my computer is my workhorse. I couldn't afford to send it in to Acer to have them repair it. Uniway quoted me $80 on a wednesday, and told me to come pick it up in several days. On Monday, I went in to pick it up. My computer was sitting on the counter, the screen having been completely removed. The technician at the shop had no idea where it was, and had to call his colleague. After retrieving it from his car, he proceeded to put the screen back on, and I paid and left. As soon as I got in the car, I decided to open it up for myself to check. I could see a wire poking out from in behind the hinge, and the hinge itself was split apart. The second I opened it up, I heard that dreaded cracking noise, meaning the bezel had popped off. I immediately took it back inside. The technician apologized, and said he would fix it properly. He told me he could not give me a refund as he'd have to call the debit card company (I call BS), so I left empty handed. I went in today, a full week after I'd originally dropped it off. It was ready for me when we got there, and he briefly explained that the wire in the back was beginning to fray, and that they were unable to repair or replace the hinge, so they just glued it. He also said that the WiFi may not work, as the cable that was fraying was for the wifi. He offered to give me a plug in WiFi adapter if that was the case. My Dad asked why there was glue all over my keyboard and outer casing, and the man said "oh, you can just clean that off." I decided at this point to cut my losses and leave. When I got in the car, I took a careful look at my laptop. The hinge is still coming apart, and is now slathered in some sort of glue that is difficult to get off of the rest of my computer. The wire, which is now hanging on by threads, and is still clearly visible from the outside- has been glued as well. I am devastated. This laptop took me ages to save up for, and now I can't even close it without risking losing the WiFi capabilities entirely. I can't afford to send it in for repairs or get a new one, and I was not issued a refund by Uniway. I intend on filing a complaint with the BBB. It took 3 trips to their store and $80, and I left with a computer that was more broken than when I initially brought it in. The bezel no longer pops off when I open it, but I can no longer close it, it's covered in glue and the screen is riddled with scratches, and I will eventually have to send it in for even more expensive repairs or replace it entirely due to the damaged cable.

Nerds 2 You - Any Computer, Any Problem!

I normally wouldn't think of making a public statement like this, but I figured if it saves someone…read morethe grief then it's worth the trouble. I recently had Claudio from Nerds 2 You come into my home to fix my computer because of a keyboard and mouse pad connectivity problem. In order to do my editing I basically had to use an external mouse rather than the mousepad. Annoying, but other than that, my computer was in good condition. I read this company's reviews and everything looked pretty legit. When he visited he told me it was a cable problem and proceeded to dismantle my computer in attempts to repair it. He also told me my battery was "pretty much fried and about to catch fire" and I should order a new one together with the new cable. He kept talking about how Macs are the worse computers out there and they all fail the same way. Now, I'm not computer savvy at all so what I didn't realize at the time is that he had destroyed the original batter by forcing it out and that's why he was ordering a new one. When he returned to install the parts a few days later he told me the new cable wasn't working and he needed to reorder the cable as it was "probably a manufacturing problem" but it would be just a couple of days. Several days passed and I didn't hear from him. I do editing work so without a properly working computer, I had my clients anxiously waiting to get their packages in a timely manner. I called him to ask what was taking so long and he replied he'd never heard of a photographer not using a mouse to edit, so he thought I was ok to wait. I was ticked off so he offered to "squeeze me into his tight schedule for the following week" When he visited next he worked on it for a bit and then proceeded to inform me that this was actually not a cable problem but he could order more parts to repair it. But if I did not want to spend the money he'd reimburse me for the cable and battery. At this point, I wasn't convinced he knew what he was talking about and told him to just leave it there. So he put the old battery back and left. This is when the fun began as my computer started constantly crashing and giving me error messages. Now it cannot be moved or even touched sometimes without it crashing. I called him back immediately to let him know what was happening and sent him an email with screen-shots of all error messages. His response: "oh how odd, I've never heard of a Mac giving these kinds of errors". Then his phone "glitched" and the call got disconnected. When I called back it went straight to voice mail. I have since left several messages on his phone. No response. So basically (I'm a bit embarrassed to admit) I paid this person to come and break my working computer. For a company that advertises "Being Best in Edmonton 2 years in a row", this unprofessional behaviour is completely outrageous. And I felt it should put out there. People get away with these kinds of things because people like me are too mad (or embarrassed) to speak about it. Sorry pal, this is NOT ok. So, lesson learned, but this is my review of your "services" and it's going everywhere. Hopefully, it'll save others some grief and money.
