I've never been to Best Buy before let alone any in Calgary but I do remember this particular location when it was just Future Shop. Ive heard stories from friends that some employees are complete dicks, pardon my language, because they work majority on commission on top of their hourly rate but to me I think these guys are humble. Today's visit was a grab and go. I know what I was looking for, grabbed it, paid and left. I was only greeted by two employees, the door greeter and the cashier. I had passed by at least 2 other employees who didn't even say a word and just walked passed me as if I wasn't there. So how would you make commission if you pretend you don't see a customer? Best Buy employees great but on the other hand geek squad employees are under qualified and slow with their process 3 days tuned in to 8. I dropped my pc off for a simple upgrade in my storage and date transfer I would have done it myself at this point if I had enough more knowledge but after YouTube there nothing to it ,I was first told 3 days to call after no word on my pc to hear it's not there, the manager told me they will make it there too priority and only take 2 days now 4 days after that, all they have done was installed in ssd card and 2H in to the date transfer and now my pc is crashing out of now where I had new parts put in over 6 month ago now with zero problem before taking it in read more

Watch out when you buy anything online at Best Buy! There is a so call " Market Place" under the same web portal which confusing people. If you buy things under the "market place" basically they do not take full responsibility. I was scammed by the MattressDirect! I bought a Queen size bed frame from other brand which under BestBuy, and a Queen size mattress from MattressDirect which also under BestBuy. The mattress was delivered in " compressed form packing box" I unpacked and fit it on the bed frame. However, both items are not fit at all! The mattress is 3" shorter and 2" narrower. I contacted them and they said their mattress is " standard" Queen size, and when I checked their product specification, there is no measurement stated there! They reject my return and said once I unpacked the good, I cannot return the good anymore. But without unpacking the mattress, how do I know whether there is any defect or measurement problem? Once upon a time this was a Future shop. It's now a (Obviously) a Best Buy. I go to this location, because it's the closest to where I live. They have a good selection of headphones, which my son happens to collect lol. Other then that, it's actually one of the smaller locations in the city. I find it easier to navigate, and the staff are pretty friendly as well. One feature that I really like about Best Buy, is the ability to reserve an item online. They will keep your item behind the counter for up to 24 hours. read more

Just purchased our 7th tv from this location over the years and once again the staff are extremely helpful but more importantly knowledgeable about what they sell. We've bought more electronics then I'd like to count from this location and even before when it was a future shop. If you live in the Deep South of the city. Electronics retailers have a long standing reputation for episodes of bad service and shady business practice but this location is the worst I've ever encountered. Not only do they change the terms and conditions of their product protection plans without notifying you, they also make them retroactive so that when you're 2 years into a 3 year protection plan and have a problem they can arbitrarily deny your claim. So called product experts flat out lie to their clients to make a sale at any cost and are never held to account for their actions. The so called Client Ombudsman is a joke and head office doesn't push the stores to be ethical and accountable. Given that Best Buy and Futureshop are owned by the same parent company, I'd expect the experience to be consistent but I usually find that Best Buys are friendlier with better client service. I still wouldn't trust their advice when buying but its a start. If you MUST go to a Future Shop, go to the one at Deerfoot Meadows and avoid this location at all costs. I have definite mixed feelings about Futureshop. On one hand, there are the things that grind on me every time I walk through the door: The swarms of salespeople that molest you as soon as you touch a product, asking you if they can "ring that in for you" so they get their little cut. Or the pitch for a "product protection plan" on even the most insignificant, disposable of purchases. Like ultra cheap earbuds. Wait a sec. This product protection plan grinds me more than just a little... This plan seemingly can change policy without notice during its lifespan. And, as in my case, have no value at all. How so? I bought a 3 year warranty on an XBox 360... and then when it died with the "red ring of death," I was told that Microsoft's warranty covered it, so deal with them. In other words, I shipped it back and forth to Microsoft 3 TIMES (once a year, like clockwork!), and Futureshop never lifted a finger. No "new replacement" as advertised. Nothing. I still got my repairs, but Futureshop just pocketed the extended warranty. The flipside is, years ago I bought a laptop from Futureshop (something I would NEVER do now, btw). I dragged that thing through airports weekly and beat the living beejezus out of it. Oh, I got my pound of flesh out of Futureshop on THAT extended warranty. They rebuilt it for me. Twice. So... win some, lose some. But statistically, I'd never go with the plan unless it's something you know will likely die. But I'm digressing... Walking into Futureshop now, my initial impression is they are trying to be a jack of all trades, master of none. No longer computers and electronics, they are selling appliances... and even musical instruments. Musical instruments? Granted my initial response was to scoff at the idea of buying something like a guitar from them. But then on second thought, experiencing years and years of smarmy music stores trying to gouge on everything has taught me that price competition from something like Futureshop can be a good thing. At least for the consumer. You want a beginner instrument? Hey, you are probably doing ok on the price. Likewise for the appliance dealers in Calgary. In particular, the one who likes to charge WAaayyy more than MSRP. Perhaps they are being kept better in check now? But yeah... come to think of it, Futureshop really is the place I go to for gifts when I don't want to put a whole lot of thought into anything. Which doesn't say a ton about them anymore. So many negative comments which is sad to see because this location is filled with awesome staff , as soon as you walk in you are greeted and welcomed by everyone and there is always someone who is willing to help. Since it is a smaller Best Buy you have to expect not as many staff can be right at your feet , retail is always difficult and remember that the staff are people to. Everytime I have come in I am always welcomed and recommend great products. They have good deals if you choose to look in the flyers. Overall it's a good Best Buy ! read more

Terrible service! Avoid this place!!! I purchased my TV, mounting equipment, receiver etc from here with a scheduled due date for delivery and installation. They never showed up and when I called to inquire they said the next available date was two weeks away. Terrible service. To get a laptop repaired we waited for 6 weeks-to get an, sorry irreparable. Don't even try to phone the store-they won't answer. I had to call in continuously for 1 hour to get someone putin me on hold for 15 min! Look, I normally love Best Buy, and on the whole, have had pretty good experiences with them (aside from sometimes the sales reps having no idea what you're talking about if you're looking for something other than a "common" product). And generally, the staff are pretty eager to help, and are friendly. My beef is with the "Geek Squad Protection", which is pushed on you with the pretense that it'll save you from ever having to deal with the manufacturer's warranty, and that if you purchase it, you won't have to worry about ANYTHING (unless you decide to use your new tv as a Nintendo Power Pad of course). The last tv I bought was an open box model, the last of its kind on the shelf, and after expressing my concerns with that fact, and asking the staff repeatedly if THEY would purchase this particular unit, I was told to get the Geek Squad protection, and if anything ever went wrong with the tv, it would be covered. So I merrily took it home, and installed it, cables behind the wall and everything. Well guess what....it wouldn't connect to the wifi. No problem because I had bought the Geek Squad Protection right? Oh no. Quite the opposite. I called the shop, and they told me to call Geek Squad. I called Geek Squad, and they told me they couldn't do anything because it was covered under the manufacturer's warranty still. Hang on, Geek Squad doesn't kick in until the manufacturer's warranty ends? This was news to me. In fact, the sales reps at Best Buy had said quite the opposite. Geek Squad would REPLACE the manufacturer's warranty. Geek Squad then proceeded to pass me off through multiple departments, and multiple automated menu options, until I got through to one woman, who said a special allowance would have to be made by her manager to enact the protection and get someone out to my house to look at the tv. Sounded good at first, but then I was put on hold for, no word of a lie, 45 minutes, at which point I just hung up. They passed me off into the netherrealm without any intention of addressing my issue. Basically put me out to pasture UNTIL I hung up. I realize now Best Buy has no problem with selling open box/returned stuff without checking it out to see what the problem is, because they'll just sling it back on the shelf, and sell it to someone else and push the Geek Squad Protection on them, which actually does nothing to ensure the product they bought works. So they make money either way. DON'T BUY THE GEEK SQUAD PROTECTION. It's a cash grab and a rip-off, and based on my experience, they'll do anything in their power to avoid actually having to come out to your place to fix your product. read more

Don't get sucked into geek squad warranty! Pay 15$ a month then try and get a claim for warranty on a iPhone 8 and they want a 945 deposit and a 200 deductible for a screen! Mise well just get the screen fixed at apple for 240! What a joke! Apple plus or Costco 3rd party warranty is the only way to go for warranty!! As good as it gets and more! Seriously folks, BEST SERVICE EVER! I was nervous before reading reviews like some of the ones below, but I am so happy I came in! I was getting a backup cam installed on my car. The guys in the back truly know what they are doing! They had amazing solutions for what I could do. While waiting I was cruising around the store and had some questions about tablets, like magic someone was there to answer all my questions... and she seriously answered ALL MY QUESTIONS! It was as if she had answers memorized. After more browsing more helpful people came to give me more assistance! It was amazing! I wish everyone I in retail cared this much about their patrons! They even looked up the best possible prices online to see if I could indeed get the best deal possible! They didn't have to do it, but taking that extra step really shows! Then I got my car back! They did some customizing in order for the cam to fit perfectly. No extra charge $100 total... $100 TOTAL!!! THIS IS THE BEST PRICE I'VE HEARD OF!!! Anyone know what Visions charges? $200 an hour... and it's close to a 2 hour job. Anyone else good at math? because this equals mind blown! So happy, SO HAPPY with Best Buy!
