Called Best Buy's Geek Squad to schedule an installation of stereo system twice. The first time I was sure that the person at the off-shore call center didn't understand what I wanted (lack of basic English language skills), so I hung up. The second time I called I repeated questioned the person to be sure they understood they were coming to install a stereo system and it's components and wire it to multiple rooms in the house. She gave me the price and then I was told that I was required to pay the total amount up front, which I reluctantly did. On the day of the install the technician, as young man by the name of "Agent White" called. One of the smoothest scammers I have ever had to deal with. After asking what it is that we needed he very clearly stated that the call center didn't ask enough questions and that the installation would not only not take place that day, but would cost over 3 times the quoted price! He fained remorse over the call center but repeatedly said that they had no control. I demanded to speak to his manager who I was told would call me back. I did receive an incoming call that promptly hung up upon answering and, when I called the call center they fained the ability to transfer the call directly to the store and I was told they would not even start processing a refund until the next day. I will here after NEVER shop at or step foot in any Best Buy stores or websites. read more

BEWARE!!! I bought a $4,000 TV, so not a chump change purchase. This experience from the South Asheville store off McKenna Rd., including the customer service from their supposed "Experience Manager," Ray Milton was by far the worst purchase experience I've ever had. I understand things happen, but they had plenty of chances to make things right. From purchase to final install it took over 2 months and 4 scheduled attempts. The first two scheduled attempts were no-show without any communication, and the third they dropped the TV and did $750 damage to my floor. Every failed attempt they put me in the back of the line, which meant minimum 2 week delay and certainly no weekend options. They had plenty of opportunities to show good customer service (proactive comm'n, priority, sympathy, compensation, etc.), but not once did they. I can't tell you what this cost me in rescheduling my work week, time sitting around waiting to show up, time on hold on the phone, time getting them to do something, time scheduling repairs, etc. Would have been nice if their Experience Manager actually cared enough to step in other than respond with "your order has been escalated" and a $300 credit. I am a loyal person and have purchased over $50k of items from Best Buy and this will be my last. read more

If I could give a negative star, I would. Ordered a $200 TV and opted to have delivery and installation by Geek Squad. The flat fee was already high before all the "extras" were added on top ($59 to plug in a sound bar!!!!). Installer called and said there would be ANOTHER fee of something like $129 because the TV was going to be mounted above a fireplace (on drywall and frame wall - not brick or stone). This was NOT disclosed on the website at time of order. I cancelled the entire order and will take my business elsewhere. $400 to deliver and hang a $200 TV? I don't think so. Not now, not ever. read more

Once again we stopped in the store because one of the kids needed something. It turns out one of them left the charger cord for their phone at home. They wandered in and one of the employees helped them immediately and took them to the aisle for what they were looking for. We took a quick look through the selection they have and found the right cord for them. This turned out to be a very quick shopping trip and we were very satisfied with the speed and friendliness of the employees. I'm a big fan of Best buy but usually end up buying big ticket items when I wander in. I got lucky this time because we weren't close to home. read more

Bought an 85 Sony Bravia 3 Television today with the labels stating it's missing the remote. I had them add a remote to my purchase. I asked the represented (Blue Shirt) to open the box so I could inspect the item. He stated their policy prevents them from opening the box. When I arrived home, 60 miles each way, the feet were missing. I've called three times this evening trying to reach someone at the store to see if they have the feet or can give me some feet. I am continuously routed to customer service call center, where they have no ability, or will not, connect me with the store. The representatives in the store were knowledgeable and very helpful during the purchase. However, Best Buy needs to make sure the customer's product condition is clearly representatives by doing a final inspection before the customer leaves the store, is that too much to ask? This has turned out to frustrate me and cost time and money to return to the store, plus having to have someone help me reload the television. I can't tell you how disappointed I am with this experience. I will return the television tomorrow and purchase elsewhere. My advice to anyone buying an open box item from Best Buy that has been reboxed - Don't do it if they won't allow you to inspect the product. You have not idea if the product is as they state it is. read more

Ordered a TV . Best Buy set up an appointment from 9am to 1pm. After taking the day off from work, I proceeded to to wait and wait for the TV at 3 PM I proceeded to call customer service. Customer service told me that the TV was delayed. Customer service attempted calling the delivery person. They got no response. An hour later I called customer service again and told them that delivery had not arrived still. Delivery was never made and I never received any type of information on regarding why it was not delivered. The next morning I look at the Best Buy app and says that the TV was delivered. I called customer service again and they had no idea what was going on. I responded to the store and requested to speak to store manager. Was at the store I spoke to Mr. Todd who is the general manager of the Arden Best Buy. Mr. Todd explained to me that the TV was in the back area of the store. DO NOT TRUST. I made an appointment a month and a half in advance to do extensive work on my car radio. Skipped a family trip and a big event to get to this appointment. Spoiler: my appointment was canceled as I stood there in the installation bay. Because of the time it took me to drive around the building and walk inside to check in, I was 15 minutes late for the appointment. Their response was essentially, too bad so sad. The attitude of everyone from the plodding car radio installer to the manager was beyond apathetic. I discovered later that when I walked in, the car radio mechanic who was glancing at me like a sleaze-ball, while refusing to talk to me, but devoting extensive time to eye raping the young girl at the counter, was actually gleefully canceling my appointment in the system. It look a few moments, due to the breaks he was taking to glance at the young girls chest. Nice. As I stood there, smiling at him with a big bag of radio parts, he went ahead and canceled my appointment. I received the cancelation email before this charming man even bothered to say hi. Thanks Best Buy. Luckily the mechanic was able to give my appointment to a friend of his. It was almost as if they (the creepy mechanic and manager) enjoyed the experience of sticking it to the customer. They said I could wait 4+ hours for a new appointment if I wanted...but no guarantee!!! The "manager" tried to tell me the installation department was far too busy to deal with tardy incompetence like mine...even with NO cars parked in the installation bays. She said that they do wiring work in the parking lot, and are busier than they look. Wiring In the parking lot? All I saw was shuffling and poorly disguised ogling back there. No work being done at all. I didn't bother to address this obvious lie. What's the point!? One look at the reviews of this Best Buy (Arden, NC location) shows you how horrible they are. Don't bother with this place if you expect work done. Appointments mean nothing. Customer service does not exist-but they were like lightning catching the dude who was stealing DVDs. I guess that's more fun than keeping appointments? I found myself rooting for the DVD thief... at least he got something out of driving 40 minutes there and back, and he wasn't lied to and ignored! read more

They said it could not be repaired because the crack went across the camera... is this not something that would be obvious enough that you would know before peeling off my $50 screen protector? Best Buy - Screen protector that the very helpful employees at Best Buy peeled off before they told me that they couldn't actually help me. - Computers Near Me - Arden, North Carolina

Bait and switch. It's been 7 years since I've been in a Best Buy. Then because they advertised a sale re I believe IPADs. I called the store and they said they had them. Best Buy in Asheville. I drove there. They said they hadn't had them all day. They wud not give me a rain check. And they were not the least bit apologetic about it. Today I needed to buy a TV and after much research decided to purchase it through Best Buy. I tried to call a store in Hickory who had the model I wanted at a good price. All calls to Best Buy stores, by the way, go to a call center so I was on the phone with Brandon who was in the call center. He was exceptional. He quoted me 1874 for the TV, 2 figures of 50 and 129 for mounting and mounting devices and a total of 2287 which wud include tech support for any devices I had even if not purchased from Best Buy. He also mentioned that delivery was in that price and that would be waived. 2287 sounded like a good deal for a nice Sony tv, mounting devices and mounting of my new tv and the tv i hv at home. We double checked that we were talking about the same model Sony XBR65A8G as the price showing on line was a little bit over 2,000. So I was super pleased. I wanted to write a check for the purchase but Brandon couldn't take a check but he placed the order for me,and provided me with the order number. When we were finished I asked to talk to his manager to express my appreciation of his outstanding service. I've been in customer service all of My life so always like to recognize people who go out of their way. On my drive to the South Asheville Best Buy I was feeling really good about Best Buy and thinking I had been petty about my last experience there. People Have bad days and I just should have gotten over it. I went to Best Buy South Asheville to write them a check. I told Them Brandon couldn't take a check which is why I was there to pay for the order. I provided them with the order number and showed them my notes from my conversation with Brandon. Everything from there went downhill. It was evident they didn't know what they were doing. The man who had been helping me didn't know how to find the order number in the system. The woman had to help him and she said someone had just showed her how to do it that day. This was all right in front of me. They went on and on about the TV costing more than what Brandon had completed The Oder for and they couldn't reconcile the numbers that were in the order. Then it seemed they called their manager over and he went on and on about the tv being the wrong price. I told them Brandon had placed the order, we had verified the model # 3 times (which I'm sure was on the order as they didn't refute it). I told them i expected them to honor the order and that I was just there to write a check for it. I also shared that I had been very frustrated with Best Buy and hadn't been in their store for 7 years for just this reason. They didn't know what they were doing. They continued to carry on amongst themselves right in front of me. Finally the manager told me that it would cost 2304. And I wasn't going to quibble so he left. Then the woman turned the screen to me and it was for 2466. What? She said, well, u hv to pay tax. And I said Brandon had told me the 2287 was the full amount of the order with tax as that's what he was going to charge my credit card. But since I wanted to pay with a check that was the only reason I was in their store. She just kept repeating I had to pay tax. It was absurd and I was just getting furious and it was evident these people were not going to make it right and the manager had left. All very unprofessional and the woman was arguing with me which was completely inappropriate. This was Best Buy's error. Not mine. I was so irritated I forgot to ask them for a copy of the order that Brandon had done. Well, now I have Best Buy tech support and I will be sure to use it at every opportunity. And it will probably be another 7 years before I darken their doors. read more

We've had OK experiences at this store previously, but our recent attempt to purchase a new LG dryer was a disaster! They didn't have the model at the top of our list, so we ordered our second choice for about $800. Then they goosed the price 50% with extras. Delivery was supposed to be the next week, but they cancelled Monday and tried again later in the week. The young guy bossing the job pulled our vent system apart and then said we needed to get some sort of vent engineer to fix it and btw there was some lint at the exit portal so we'd need to get the vent cleaned before they would install. I got all that done the same week, so we got on their list for the next Tuesday, but they never showed up. After an exchange of e-mails, they credited our account for the total sum and after two weeks of going to the laundromat we ordered online from Lowe's, which gave us a much better deal. Their online catalog had our preferred model at the top of the listings with $100 off. The extras cost half as much at Lowe's. They delivered that same week, right on schedule and got the new unit installed with no problem. Next time, guess where I'll go first? read more

Last week, I made my first visit to Best Buy in about 5 years. I had signed off on them because they wanted to charge 25.00 to recycle a monitor when their website said free electronic recycling. Needed to get a new car stereo and Best Buy was the only place I found that does the installation. I provided wrong information, my car does actually have stereo controls on the steering column and I told the tech that it did not. I discovered this mistake the day after (and 2 weeks prior to the install appt). I tried calling for two days. Either no one answers or it picks up and says "we are experiencing technical difficulties, please try your call later". Technical difficulties? Geek squad? Shouldn't that be fixed? I tried online chat. I was told this was a "Magnolia Store purchase" and I would have to take it up with them. I called that place the following morning to learn that they do not do business with Best Buy, only target. I drive 45 min each way to correct my mistake. I tell them that I couldn't get through on the phone. At least THREE employees confirmed "yeah, the phone system doesn't work." ???? Everyone I have dealt with in person at the store has been professional and helpful but if you have an issue, you are crap out of luck unless you want to drive there. My stereo installation was completed today. I went home and tried to use Android Auto (the main selling feature of this product for me). I am informed to put on my parking brake. The parking brake is on. Does not work. Android auto's website states that this is a wiring problem. I go to online chat since I know the PHONES don't work, I am greeted not with "an agent will be with you shortly" or "You are the 54th person in the queue"... no, it says "all agents are busy, try again later". So I am suppose to sit here and hit "talk to an agent" over and over and over until I get lucky? It reminds me of calling into radio stations as a kid hoping to be the 6th caller and win the free tickets. Apparently, I have to go back to the store to REPORT the problem. Let me end my very first ever Yelp review by again stating that the staff at Best Buy Asheville (Tunnel Rd) are very professional, the over all organization that handles their communication with customers has a LOT to be desired. read more

Went with my nephew who did 3 stupid things the day before at store; 1) he went to Best Buy in first place; 2) he paid cash; and 3) he didn't keep his receipt. The item was a $24 car phone holder. He tried to exchange it for actual item he wanted, but they wouldn't do it without receipt. I was very calm and polite, tried to ask MOD about it but he looked busy dealing with his newfound puberty. Told us "we have no way of knowing where it came from," or in other words, he called my nephew a liar. So over $24, Best Buy pissed off both my nephew and me, and ensured our entire family will never shop there again. Oh, and the other $250 in phone cases and gear we were going to buy after, at Best Buy - well, we just went across street to Target and got all that instead. Then, I tried to go online and locate the Best Buy complaints submission, and there was none. I called 3 times on corporate number provided, and kept getting runaround, telling me I "had to submit a complaint online - but they were all "really, really sorry". Without a doubt, we won't shop Best Buy again (I have hated them for years anyway) and it's a sad state of our society and country. You cannot even count on and/or trust these billion-dollar companies that once practiced honesty and integrity, only who now have no qualms over screwing over a young, new customer for $25. read more

I have never filed any kind of report like this but I have never in my 58 years had such a poor retail experience. On November 3rd I went into Best Buy to purchase a LG Wash Tower. The unit and color I needed would be 3 weeks until delivery, as they didn't have this model on display I handed the sales person an index card with the measurements of my cubby hole with the w/d hookups and asked them to double check the measurements, which he did and pronounced it would fit. So we did the sale, I paid $1800 in cash and left happy as could be. Forward three weeks and they brought the machine, not only did it not fit it missed by over 6 inches. The delivery driver said to go back to Best Buy and tell them I wanted the same brand and all but a smaller unit which they had in stock. I drove the hour over to Best Buy and talked to the sales person who said they were sold out of the smaller unit and he cancelled my old order without my permission and because I paid cash the had to write a check which will take 2 weeks, I asked for a gift card and stated clearly I would just wait til it was back in stock. They said at Best Buy that since I paid in cash they couldn't transfer the funds to a different item or a gift card, they were required to issue me a check which would arrive in 2 weeks. I left again, this time not too happy. Went straight home and googled for the LG machine I wanted, and the first place google suggested was the Best Buy I'd just left. I went all the way to the purchase screen and had I wanted to pay another 1800 I could have picked up the item curbside on Dec 2nd. But since they had insisted on a refund check instead of a gift card I didn't have that amount readily available. So I called the store and talked to them and asked to speak to the manager. Turns out Best Buy stores are not taking calls, they are all transferred to a national call center (the one I spoke to was in Guatemala, WTF?). Not only that, the call center has no way to contact individual stores about an issue. I have a hard time believing this. So I said since your store clerks made multiple errors, I'll wait on the check to come if you'll just give me a rain check for the sales price when I paid them. I was very curtly told they didn't do rain checks, even if it's their error. I've never heard of a store not taking calls, or having an email address, or a call center not being able to get a message to the store. Once I get my check, I'll have to start shopping for a new machine and it sure as hell won't be at Best Buy. Had the store gotten the message the first night they could have stopped processing the check, and applied my funds to this machine. So I am extremely frustrated. They had my money and the machine I wanted and I got nothing but a promise for a refund. read more

More of a warning to MacOS users. Website is misleading. This store is NOT Apple certified and can't do repair services. Within an hour I get a notification that my order was ready. I called only to discover that they determined my Hard Drive was shot. Their option is to ship it out to an Apple certified location for $87 plus the parts cost and installation fee. I declined. So when I asked about the charge my customer service associate was able to reduce the charge to $100, giving me a $50 credit. So I spent $100 just for them to tell me I had a bad Hard Drive.
