Rod and his team are providing really quality service. It was my first time taking my 5 years old Honda FIT for a regular tune up. Before that, I used the Honda dealer because of warranty. The price is very fair. All items are essential and listed carefully before they start working on my car. When the items are properly just nice to have only Rod will tell me I don't need to do that. I will certainly come back again. read more

Adding a five star update for Besa. I brought my LR home from the recent service. Check engine light popped on a few miles later. I brought it back to Besa and they diagnosed and resolved the issue quickly for me (unrelated to the original service.) Thanks again! read more

Have a 2012 Audi Q5, Rod and his crew couldn't have been nicer and more knowledgeable. Car was suddenly barely drivable and I told them I didn't want to dump a lot of money into things that other shops told me I had to replace in order to get the car running. They found the actual problem that wasn't a bank breaker and fixed it same day. There are a few somewhat superficial things that I am going to get fixed in the next year or so, I will not bring it anywhere else but Besa. An honest and knowledgeable mechanic is hard to find these days, happy I found this shop! read more

I took my 2021 BMW Z3 Roadster to this shop because my parking lights would not turn off. After the part came in my car was feeling much better and so was I. The shop is very clean and an asset to the community. I will get my car serviced here. read more

I found Rod after some searching for a reliable and honest Land Rover mechanic. Rod and his team have been exceptional at getting my temperamental Land Rover (Trudy) running again after an issue. Great service and attitude, 10/10 would recommend! read more

One of my favorite auto places and that is saying a lot. I always get GREAT service from Rob and he never short cuts me .. tries to upsell me or not take care of me timely. read more

This shop is top notch and Rod is a pleasure to deal with. Rod and the crew helped me address some big repairs (head gasket) and several long-standing issues (oil leaks, power steering noises) with my beloved Discovery II. Rod did the job right, and stood by his work. He was patient with my many questions and responsive to my input. He made sure I understood what was going on, and now--6 months or so out from the work at Besa--the Disco continues to work perfectly and I'm left with nothing but thanks and appreciation for Rod's hard work and expertise. If you have a Land Rover in the Bay Area, Besa is as good as it gets. Thanks, Rod! read more

Besa Quality Auto Care - Land Rovers in their natural habitat - Auto Repair Near Me - Oakland, California

I have used Besa for years as a go-to for any auto repair needs. Auto repair is notoriously hard to find trustworthy and fairly priced service providers. Rod has always earned my trust and repeat business. read more

They fixed a problem that I had with my Jaguar since I first purchased it. It was still under warranty when I took it to a Jaguar shop in Corte Madera and they tried to fix it yet the problem persisted and even got worse. Took it to Besa and they fixed it within a couple of days. Sadly it was already out of warranty but glad to have my baby running like she's supposed to!!! read more

We took our Range Rover here and were amazed at the customer service, honesty, reliableness, and affordable price. They got the car fixed much faster and for much cheaper than anywhere else. Rod and Carlos took good care of everything and made us feel confident leaving our car with them. I'm bringing my Toyota here next. Thank you, Besa! read more

I have been taking my higher mileage Land Rovers for maintenance work to Besa for 7 years. Rod consistently gives me top-quality service and solid advice on how to keep the vehicles running well. He's knowledgeable about the ins and outs of Land Rovers and that gives me a lot of trust. read more

Great customer service & workmanship ! Rod took the time to educate me and answer each of my questions in depth . Thank you!

I can't honestly comment on under-the-hood work or cost, but I can tell you that the owner is willing to help out a gal in distress. I don't know about you, but when my dashboard starts flashing unexpected warning lights, I panic. I'm a car idiot (one of the many things I'd like to be an expert in one day), and wasn't sure what this particular warning light meant. I passed Besa Auto Care and asked if they could help me out. The owner was super friendly and fixed the problem without even charging me. He gave my car a once-over, provided advice and info, had one of his guys check my tires, and I rolled out of there 5 minutes later. Warning light off. Hey presto. One good deed deserves another, so I hope his good karma (car-ma?) is returned to him! read more

Q: How does a business maintain a 5-star rating on Yelp? A: By providing quality service and treating the customers like the individuals that they are, with respect. I brought my car here for service that at the dealership was estimated to cost $1200. After all of the repairs and service were completed, my final bill was for less than half of the estimated charges from the dealership. I now have my new private mechanic. For logistical and planning purposes, there is a Hertz rental car store directly across the street which makes planning for repairs and picking up a replacement rental car a snap. Give this place your patronage and experience what it is like to receive 5-star service from a small business. read more

I have used this body shop twice so far, for repairing a leaky belt tensioner and for some collision repair. Both issues were handled very quickly and professionally. Rod has been very patient answering my questions, and the estimates he gave were accurate and very fair. I really appreciate him not overcharging for parts and frankly discouraging any unnecessary repairs. The only thing I regret is that just as I found a great reliable trustworthy mechanic, I have to move to a different state. Jul 9, 2009 read more

The best! I've owned two cars an Audi and a BMW and have been to too many shops. Its hard to find shops that 1. know what their doing with European cars and 2. do good quality honest work. Besa does amazing work with honest mechanics that let you know whats going on with your car and let you make the decision no pushing extra repairs and costs on you. Even Better: Their costs are a fraction of dealership prices and much more reasonable than many other shops Totally happy with them! I won't take my car anywhere else. read more

I have been taking my cars to Besa since they were 23rd Street Auto care. The work is thorough, reliable, and honest. If you want to hear an explanation of what they have done they will walk you through the parts that were replaced and why. I will be coming to the shop as long as I have a car. read more

This is the first time I can ever say I like mechanic. We have gone to besa for a few years, referred friends and everyone has been really happy with the level of service. They are fast and extremely honest. Last year I blew up my engine and it was extremely expensive to make the repairs. They were so honest that they offered suggestions and price ranges for buying another replacement car....at obviously the risk of not getting my business. I decided to have the car fixed and they were quick and did a great job for us. read more

I saw the great reviews on Yelp, so I called them up and told them my just-purchased used Toyota Highlander had an after-market alarm system that was malfunctioning. I asked if they could restore the original factory alarm system that was still in it, and they said no problem, bring it in. So, I brought it in, and they called me 6 hours later and said sorry, they can't fix it, and I would need to bring it to the (notorious) Downtown Toyota dealer just up the road, to have the factory alarm reconnected. They had already made arrangements with Ronaldo at the Toyota Dealer, in my name. "That will be $65, please." "Why can't you fix it?" "Well we can fix some aftermarket systems. Land Rovers and so on. But this one needs to be re-coded. If you want to restore the Toyota system you need to go to the Toyota dealer just up the street." Why did they tell me they could restore my original alarm, then take my money and tell me they couldn't restore it? $65 to tell me that I needed to go the Toyota dealer. Never again. read more

No one likes an auto repair shop because no one really looks forward to replacing the unexpected expense of a carburator or alternator or breaks, right? Yet this place gets the highest marks because though Care is the last word in their title it is the first feeling you getfrom doing business here. If you have experience, like I do, with Auto "repair" seeming like more of a swindle where you bring in a car for new windshield wipers and are told you need a new engine, then this place will seem refreshing to you as well. Rod Besa called me up to explain that my engine light was a simple malfunction and while that's what they thought intially, they still did every test they knew, all in under an hour. Then "I think we may have saved your life" he tells me discovering a tire about to explode. When I came to pick the car up, he insisted on showing me the wear, compared tires, compassionately broke the news to me that I got gimmicked in purchasing tires (See my Sears Auto Center review-then take off one star). To explain why the light came on and the tests they did he drew up a diagram, this man takes your car knowledge seriously though for me I start to hear the Charlie Brown teacher's voice when people try to edumacate in that department. He told me new breaks need to be in my future, which I've been surmising and about damage done to the frame of my car which I did not know but all told without a hustle to get it done now or by him. A few days later and the Quality of the title stands out as well. So when things go wrong, I'll be back to Besa for sure. read more

I have been going to Besa Auto since it was at the other location I can no longer remember exactly where that was and over the years the service has ALWAYS been amazing, high quality, timely. I have an old car but its my baby and while on the outside it doesn't look as fabulous as she once did back in 1997 when I drove her off the lot, her insides are still fabulous and amazing thanks to Rod and Steve at Besa Auto (as well as the rest of the team there). I am a single woman who doesn't know a lot about cars but I know Rod cares that I have a safe, working vehicle first and foremost. His repair recs are never based on just wanting to make money off of me and as I mentioned, my baby is pretty old so he could if he wanted to. Today I stopped by unannounced to see if he knew someone who could fix a small repair for me today, immediately so my holiday weekend fun could begin, he had a Mechanic pop my hood, replace a hose in 5 mins and sent me on my way free of charge. I've recommended countless people here over the years and no one has complained. Can't rec this shop enough!!! Thanks Everyone at Besa, you guys rock!!! read more

This family owned business is the most honest mechanic I have ever had!! Rod tells you how it is and never charges you for repairs you dont need. And he always calls first before making any repairs. They offer discounts to students and the elderly which I think is nice. The lady in front, Patricia, is a total sweetheart and will keep you in great company while your waiting. I would highly HIGHLY recommend this place to everyone for an honest job. All my friends have converted and havent looked back! :) Cheers to the Besa's! read more

I have taken my 2007 Range Rover to Besa since it passed the factory service warranty. I now have 220k miles. Rod says if I take care of it, it will go 300k plus. Fingers crossed. Besa does a great job. They are quick and exceed their promises. read more

I had Rod service my Landrover Discovery for many years and could always count on competent service, quality work and sound advice. I gave Besa 2 stars primarily for the customer service prior to actually getting your car serviced. Re the repair service specifically, I would give them 4-5 stars. However, the folks at Besa who answer the phones, make appointments, provides direction/answers questions regarding service prior to your car actually being serviced are the worst that I have come across in the Bay Area...really! If they actually pick up the phone, they will prove to be inadequate at best. It's unfortunate for the owner, because he has a bunch of bozos running the "front" and they are doing him a huge dis-service. read more

I have never had to take my car anywhere in the bay before. So, I was uneasy about taking my car somewhere that would overcharge me or damage my car further. So, I chose Besa because it had all of these wonderful reviews. And, I will say, they are nice people, the hours are convenient, and they had my car fixed in a couple of hours. However, they charged me 400+ dollars for an alternator that I find out later can be changed EASILY for about a hundred dollars myself. In addition, I drove my car home and suddenly my power steering went out and my fluid was all over the road. THEY DISCONNECTED MY POWER STEERING LINE!!! Luckily I live right down the street and I was able to get it back to them to fix. But, now I'm worried that I'm going to pick it up today, drive down the street, and something else is going to go wrong due to another oversight or shoddy work. It's unfortunate because I really like them as people and I would LOVE to be able to find someone I can trust...this unfortunately isn't the place for me. read more

I've been taking my cars to Rod since before Besa Quality Auto Care existed. In the early years, when I was pinching pennies, he would often help me decide on affordable repairs (what can I get away with?) that allowed me to still have money for food at the end of the day. Today, he is my default mechanic and I trust him implicitly. When I lost my wedding ring in my car, my mother thought I was crazy to trust my mechanic to find it. But I did. And they did. - 100% Loyal Customer for almost 30 years. read more

Rod runs a very tight ship. Need anything done, on any type of car, look no further than Besa Motors. My husband and I have been taking our cars there four years now, and I would never use anyone else. My bills have always been under the estimate, and the work is excellent. read more

I have been going to Besa for a few years so at this point its clear I like the shop. I had some work done on my Saturn SL1, the idle fluctuated and it was hard to start. He cleaned out the throttle and said it was fine. The problem returned and he fixed it for free. Years earlier I had dropped the car off for an oil change, and note I rarely drive this car, and he returns it again with no charge; the mechanic really thought the oil was fine and they weren't going to do unnecessary work. When he does give me my options he is usually pretty conservative on what actions I should take. That could be because my car is relatively old and he doesn't want me to go down road of substantial repairs if the car is really a goner. I like that pragmatic quality. Oh yes, he has done a few big jobs too and they came out well. read more

We've taken 3 different cars to Besa over the last 15 years. Rod is always up-front and honest about what he finds going on with our cars. He provides clear estimates with alternatives such as factor parts, rebuilt or used. Most recently we took a Toyota truck in for a pre-purchase inspection. $120 fee for that gave us the information we needed to negotiate $1,200 off the purchase price. An excellent investment!
