Have a 2012 Audi Q5, Rod and his crew couldn't have been nicer and more knowledgeable. Car was suddenly barely drivable and I told them I didn't want to dump a lot of money into things that other shops told me I had to replace in order to get the car running. I can't honestly comment on under-the-hood work or cost, but I can tell you that the owner is willing to help out a gal in distress. I don't know about you, but when my dashboard starts flashing unexpected warning lights, I panic. I'm a car idiot (one of the many things I'd like to be an expert in one day), and wasn't sure what this particular warning light meant. I passed Besa Auto Care and asked if they could help me out. The owner was super friendly and fixed the problem without even charging me. I have used this body shop twice so far, for repairing a leaky belt tensioner and for some collision repair. Both issues were handled very quickly and professionally. Rod has been very patient answering my questions, and the estimates he gave were accurate and very fair. I saw the great reviews on Yelp, so I called them up and told them my just-purchased used Toyota Highlander had an after-market alarm system that was malfunctioning. I asked if they could restore the original factory alarm system that was still in it, and they said no problem, bring it in. So, I brought it in, and they called me 6 hours later and said sorry, they can't fix it, and I would need to bring it to the (notorious) Downtown Toyota dealer just up the road, to have the factory alarm reconnected. They had already made arrangements with Ronaldo at the Toyota Dealer, in my name. "That will be $65, please." "Why can't you fix it?" "Well we can fix some aftermarket systems. Land Rovers and so on. But this one needs to be re-coded. If you want to restore the Toyota system you need to go to the Toyota dealer just up the street." Why did they tell me they could restore my original alarm, then take my money and tell me they couldn't restore it? $65 to tell me that I needed to go the Toyota dealer. Never again. read more

No one likes an auto repair shop because no one really looks forward to replacing the unexpected expense of a carburator or alternator or breaks, right? Yet this place gets the highest marks because though Care is the last word in their title it is the first feeling you getfrom doing business here. If you have experience, like I do, with Auto "repair" seeming like more of a swindle where you bring in a car for new windshield wipers and are told you need a new engine, then this place will seem refreshing to you as well. Rod Besa called me up to explain that my engine light was a simple malfunction and while that's what they thought intially, they still did every test they knew, all in under an hour. Then "I think we may have saved your life" he tells me discovering a tire about to explode. When I came to pick the car up, he insisted on showing me the wear, compared tires, compassionately broke the news to me that I got gimmicked in purchasing tires (See my Sears Auto Center review-then take off one star). To explain why the light came on and the tests they did he drew up a diagram, this man takes your car knowledge seriously though for me I start to hear the Charlie Brown teacher's voice when people try to edumacate in that department. He told me new breaks need to be in my future, which I've been surmising and about damage done to the frame of my car which I did not know but all told without a hustle to get it done now or by him. A few days later and the Quality of the title stands out as well. So when things go wrong, I'll be back to Besa for sure. read more

I have an old car but its my baby and while on the outside it doesn't look as fabulous as she once did back in 1997 when I drove her off the lot, her insides are still fabulous and amazing thanks to Rod and Steve at Besa Auto (as well as the rest of the team there). I gave Besa 2 stars primarily for the customer service prior to actually getting your car serviced. Re the repair service specifically, I would give them 4-5 stars. However, the folks at Besa who answer the phones, make appointments, provides direction/answers questions regarding service prior to your car actually being serviced are the worst that I have come across in the Bay Area...really! If they actually pick up the phone, they will prove to be inadequate at best. It's unfortunate for the owner, because he has a bunch of bozos running the "front" and they are doing him a huge dis-service. read more

I have never had to take my car anywhere in the bay before. So, I was uneasy about taking my car somewhere that would overcharge me or damage my car further. So, I chose Besa because it had all of these wonderful reviews. And, I will say, they are nice people, the hours are convenient, and they had my car fixed in a couple of hours. However, they charged me 400+ dollars for an alternator that I find out later can be changed EASILY for about a hundred dollars myself. In addition, I drove my car home and suddenly my power steering went out and my fluid was all over the road. THEY DISCONNECTED MY POWER STEERING LINE!!! Luckily I live right down the street and I was able to get it back to them to fix. But, now I'm worried that I'm going to pick it up today, drive down the street, and something else is going to go wrong due to another oversight or shoddy work. It's unfortunate because I really like them as people and I would LOVE to be able to find someone I can trust...this unfortunately isn't the place for me. read more

I have been going to Besa for a few years so at this point its clear I like the shop. I had some work done on my Saturn SL1, the idle fluctuated and it was hard to start. He cleaned out the throttle and said it was fine. The problem returned and he fixed it for free. Years earlier I had dropped the car off for an oil change, and note I rarely drive this car, and he returns it again with no charge; the mechanic really thought the oil was fine and they weren't going to do unnecessary work. When he does give me my options he is usually pretty conservative on what actions I should take. That could be because my car is relatively old and he doesn't want me to go down road of substantial repairs if the car is really a goner. I like that pragmatic quality.
