Yayayayayayayayayayayayayayayay!…read more I found a place that sells healthy & reasonably-priced salads to go right here in W1! I thought I would never see this day... Goodge Place Market is a tiny food market in the likes of its bigger siblings like Leather Lane & Whitecross Markets in Easternish London. Here they only have a total of six stalls, but all of them serve delicious foods: - Burritos (Freebird Burritos) - Salad Boxes (£ 4.50 per box) - Thai food (Simply Thai) - Falafel (Hoxton Beach) - Köfte wraps/sandwiches That's really all I could've wished for...I feel so blessed having discovered this market!

By the time I'd reached Goodge Place, I'd walked in and out of more than a few chain shops, unable to find something which ticked both the 'affordable' and 'healthy' boxes. Then I came across this market. I spied a salad stall, and decided to go for that. After all, it was pretty decently priced at £4 for a large box of sundried tomatoes, cous cous, aubergines, beans and other vegetables. To my surprise, the salad also came with a thick chunk of Turkish bread, which made it even better value for money. There's an assortment of other stalls here as well - Mexican, Thai, falafels - and they're here Monday to Friday.

A relatively new stall on Whitecross Street serving (as you'd imagine) -- Bibimbap wraps! And…read morebubble tea. There are several selections of wrap: steak, bulgogi turkey (will go back to try that), vegan, etc. We popped in here after our Salad Kitchen plans were foiled (burst pipe!) -- this stall is usually right across the street from SK, so here we go. The cute hand drawn menu drew me in, as did the smell of bulgogi...mmmmm. The good: Fresh wraps! Interesting composition! Big! Huge portion of the steak wrap...it felt like a burrito. 7.50 might seem steep but the quality of the meat was high and it was made fresh right in front of us. Very good value. The maybe-not-so-good: The ingredients are wrapped in nori (seaweed paper and then wrapped in actual paper. Unfortunately, they are super messy to eat, unless there is some trick I am unaware of. Foil might be a better choice? I don't know but ish was everywhere, I was glad to be with a close colleague and not with those I would need to look proper in front of! The bubble tea- meh. It was just sitting up on the counter (I thought it would be made fresh and these were just an example set of teas) -- and I don't know about you, but I don't really want milk tea that's been sitting for a long period of time, you know? Plus they mixed boba with the jelly balls, I hate the jelly balls. I wanted all boba. This is a pretty big thing with bubble tea -- so I basically didn't like mine at all. I would skip it next time return. Overall, a solid little spot - sans the old bubble tea. The wraps are nice, I'd love an option to get the ingredients on a salad or in a bento box type thing, for ease of eating. But the goods are fresh, and that's the most important thing. *open with weekday lunchtime market. *cash only.

Clearly, this is not a good spot for a first date. This thing is just very difficult to eat "on…read moreroute" and that's I guess the idea behind the street food trend right? Eating on the go & stuff. BUT...this "thing" aka wrap aka bibimbap is delicious. I went for the bulgogi steak, and to be honest, I could stand next to this steak being cooked all day long. 7£ is well, not cheap, but you'll be fed for a few hours, trust me :)

The hubs said it was one of the freshest things he's had in his life. Even being jetlagged, I could really taste how creamy it was. It wasn't until later in the day that eating my leftover portion that I could appreciate it even more. I love prosciutto! And this crepe sandwich was simple but hit just the right spots. Okay. It could have used more prosciutto IMO, but it was really tasty. The mozzarella, arugula, and tomato were so yummy. Simple and delicious!

Cut to my very large "snack" sandwich. It actually did travel well. It took me a bit to get back to my hotel and then a little longer to sit down and eat it. Don't worry, I tried a bite when I first got it as a base line for later. I held up OK. Obviously it is best when it is first toasted/pressed but it was decent as take away as well. For about $11, a steal for a meal! Gastronomica also has a little stand in another location within Borough Market where they sell sweets. Wanting to end my food journey with something sweet I opted for 2 mini cannolis: vanilla and pistachio. The vanilla was really sugary sweet. It took a minute to eat it even thought it was small. The pistachio was less sweet but even with the end covered in real pistachios, I missed the pistachio flavor. Perhaps my tastebuds were tired after all of the different food.
