Over forty faults were found. In speaking with Cary, I knew Bert's had the techs and diagnostic equipment to take care of any and all issues. At pick up time, Cary sat with me in the vehicle and went through a variety of points of maintenance completed and how to use the many interior controls. On 12/26 (my birthday) my daughter and I were traveling on Tezel Road when suddenly one of the tires to her car got punctured by a very, very large metal object. We knew we would not make it back home nearby because of the severity of the tire damage; as the air was hissing out of the tire very quickly . Ironically right in front of us a few feet away was a garage called Bert's Motor Works. If you are familiar with Tezel Road there is not much nearby ! Well these amazing employees whom I think their names were Jeremy and Isaiah quickly went above and beyond to take care of changing the tire to put the spare on to get us on the road when most people would have said they are closed, don't have time , or charge an arm and a leg . I will forever be truly thankful to them to come to the rescue . My boyf has used this place for several things on his Volvo and he liked the work that they did so I decided to just use this shop when I needed new rotors installed. I'm all about convenience and this place is less than 2 miles from my house. I actually dropped the car off with my dogs and walked back to my house (and vice versa). The people are friendly and they gave me a quote within a few hours. To replace my rotors, it was $120 just for the Labor. I purchased the actual rotors from Tirerack.com since the price was better than what they had. I brought the car in on Monday morning and it was ready by the end of the day, although I didn't pick it up until Tuesday morning. I'll go back here because it's convenient and the prices are on par with other places. They didn't try to up-sell me or anything ridiculous like that. read more

Took a 2009 Chevy Aveo in for a diagnostic check to see if it was worth buying. They said for a bit over $200 they could check the engine. They first say the vehicle needed ~$1400 to correct all problems. I agreed to pay that and bought the car from the seller. Then I started getting call's saying now it needed another $1000. Then another few hundred. Final price was more than 2 times the original price. Total was $3700. Was told not to worry about the check engine light. If I was willing to spend another $300 - $400, then that problem could be addressed but the car was way more reliable. The mechanic actually told me the car was not drivable when he started. I asked, then how did I drive it up here? Also, the car broke down on the way home when I stopped for gas. I had to get a jump start. When I called the shop, they said they do not offer 'mobile service'. It didn't break down getting to the shop, just leaving. They are total scam artists. Never trust their first price. Always double or triple the first price they tell you here. I will never come back here. read more

I took my Fiat 500 Abarth to them for a boost leak diagnosis in June 2019. They found a BUNCH of undercarraige damage, suspension damage, bad axle, and damage to the front bumper and side skirts (around $4k worth), so we agreed to repair and repaint it. There was also an issue where I couldn't add fuel, I had stated it may be the gastank rollover valve since it's apparently a very common problem on this particular car. They diagnosed it as the charcoal canister being bad and only charged me half an hour diag for that, warranty said I had to fix that at the dealer. It took over 2 months to fix the body and undercarraige (alot of the delays were due to the appraiser and parts shipment), but then I got the call that the car was finally ready! (Except for the left side skirt, which would be installed at a later time when it was ready) Well, I got it back and as soon as I turned right on Tezel I immediately noticed it was misfiring and overboosting badly. It hadn't been test driven. I took it back the next day, and almost a week later they came back with a diagnosis of a spark plug tube seal leak that got oil on the coil and burnt the coil out. I asked if the overboosting was related, they advised it was the car compensating for the ignition troubles. I was skeptical as increasing boost to fix an ignition misfire is very odd... and again, the warranty said I had to go to the dealer for that issue as well. Another week or so later, the car was ready for pickup. I got there, and the left side skirt was loose, so they told me to leave it a bit longer and graciously provided me a loaner car that time around. Side note: the Lincoln was very comfy! Finally, I picked up the car and took it to the dealer for the misfire and fueling problem. It turned out it WAS the roll-over valve as I suspected (not the charcoal canister), the misfire was because it simply needed a re-flash (P0315 code was indicative of this too), the tube seals were not leaking and coils were fine (the oil was from a spill on the last oil change) AND a bolt on one of my front struts was left loose which I had to pay the dealer $135 to diagnose and fix (in addition to the $180 I paid Berts for the misfire diagnosis the second time I took it in which was incorrect, AND another half hour I also paid for the incorrect diagnosis of my fueling problem). So about $350 or so out of my pocket for wrong diagnostics and repairing their work. The dealer only took 2 days with the car, and now she's running better than ever. Everyone at Berts is very nice, and I genuinely enjoyed hanging out at the shop for some great car talk. But it's a shame my particular experience was so poor. Also, my front bumper paint is peeling around a rock chip (rock from the road, but peeling looks like it wasn't properly primed) and my driver's side skirt is STILL hanging off towards the front (it also looks to have been painted while installed on the car, as the paint seam between the skirt and rocker panel is uneven and cracking). And finally, my alignment is off (steering wheel is to the left) because I assume it was aligned with the loose strut. read more

I brought in my old trusty 2000 Ford Explorer to Bert's Motor Works due to their high star rating on Yelp. I am not very knowledgeable on vehicles and came in with a concern for the sound of my brakes and a few questions about the suspension/shocks on my vehicle. I rely on this vehicle to get to and from work & the people ensured me the repair would only take a few days. A week and a half later the repairs were finally completed. They did do a great job as far as providing me pictures of the repairs consistently which was impressive. The only thing that worries me was the cost. After careful review/investigation of the estimate they provided me, I realized that they had overcharged for pretty much every service they provided. To give you a reference; they listed the part cost for a fuel pump as $594 and the labor to install it as an additional $345. I was able to find fuel pumps on google for an average price of $50-$70. I hope this gives you an idea of the kind of money grubbing is going on there. By the end my bill for a simple service was $3920. I feel like they took advantage of me and my family because we do not have knowledge about vehicles. I hope this review will give people a better idea of the kind of service they will receive and that my star rating reflects greatly to prevent other people from being used.....:( read more

I had problems with my hondas motor mounts due to an accident previously . Got the call saying my car was gonna take an extra day than they said because they didn't want to have a "rushed" job and want to do it correctly and take their time . This is something i appreciate because now the car is like new when i first got it . Bert was able to show me that my mounts weren't just collapsed they were absolutely destroyed. Parts came in within a day id say. They test drove it , let me test drive it with their mechanics before making the finishing payment . Guys obviously know what they're doing . And it was all the motor mounts they replaced all within 2 days tops. They were able to take a good guess on the problems i was pointing out and they ended up being 100% correct. Was looking for an alternative to the dealership for repairs on my wife's problem-prone 2007 BMW and called Bert's because they are blocks from my house. Called them for an estimate for repairs that the dealership had already diagnosed. Told them what I needed and he said he would work it up and give me a call back. That was three days ago. So today I called Bavarian and spoke to a very nice gentleman who gave me an estimate in 5 minutes-and it was almost $300 cheaper than the dealership.
