I was referred to this shop by a friend and called on a Monday morning to see if I could have it looked at. I was told they couldn't get to it that day and asked me to come back Wednesday morning. I returned Wednesday morning as requested, only to be told they didn't have space and asked me to come back Friday morning instead. I came back again on Friday morning and was once again told they had no room to take the car in. At that point, an entire week had been wasted and my vehicle had still never been looked at. I understand that shops get busy, but repeatedly asking a customer to come back on different days and then turning them away each time is frustrating and unprofessional. If the schedule was full, I would have preferred to be told that upfront rather than making multiple unnecessary trips. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I can't recommend this shop. read more

I don't usually write Yelp reviews, but my experience at Bert's Garage really stood out and deserves to be shared. A few years ago, I thought I'd try saving money by buying a 12-year-old car in great exterior condition with low mileage, but it's had one persistent issue since: an annoying squeaking noise coming from the rear, especially when driving over rough roads here in LA. Over the years, I've thrown thousands of dollars at the problem--took it to other shops, tried all kinds of DIY fixes after spending way too much time in car forums, replaced parts, lubed joints--you name it. At best, the fixes would last a few days. The squeak always came back, louder and more embarrassing than before. Recently, the noise got unbearable. I took a chance on Bert's based on their reviews, and I could not be happier that I did. I dropped off my car on a Tuesday and spoke with Chris at the front desk. He really took the time to understand everything I had tried, both on my own and with other mechanics. He told me they'd take a look and promised to follow up later that day. Sure enough, a few hours later, Chris called me with a thoughtful explanation of what they found. Not only did they identify the likely cause of the noise, but they also spotted a serious leak in my steering rack that they recommended I take care of--something another shop had mentioned months earlier during an oil change. It wasn't a surprise, and I appreciated the heads-up and the clear explanation. Chris gave me what I felt was a very fair quote for both issues and told me they could get the parts and finish the work within 24 to 48 hours. That sounded impressively quick, given how busy they were. By the end of the next day, I had my car back. The squeak was gone, and I was cautiously optimistic. A few days later, a very faint squeak started coming from the front (not the back like I initially described)--way better than before, but still there. Nervous that history was repeating itself, I brought the car back in. This time, I spoke directly with the mechanics, explained my concerns, and asked if they could give it one more look. They didn't hesitate. They thoroughly checked the front-end connections as well and re-torqued everything to factory specs. They even discovered a large, loose piece of metal that had somehow lodged itself in there It's now been a week, and the car is completely quiet--even over the bumpiest LA roads. More than just the repairs, I'm incredibly grateful for the honesty, clear communication, and fast turnaround. This was by far the least stressful experience I've ever had at a mechanic. I left feeling like these guys truly cared about solving the issue--not just patching it up. I'm happy to say I've found my go-to garage. read more

Not only did Aaron give me the most fair & reasonable pricing out of several shops in the area, he went above & beyond to ensure each cosmetic issue was fixed at a standard of near perfection & that I left at total satisfaction. If there was any misunderstanding, he would take time to explain thoroughly & ensure I was feeling taken care of. I cannot say that is the case as a women for most auto body shops I have taken my vehicles to. WARNING!!! BE CAREFUL OF THESE PEOPLE!!! After they checked my car, Edi and Chris told me on the phone that my Beetle's water pump was broken and the cost to repair it was going to be between $2,000 and $2,500!! I decided not to do the repair, so Edi in an angry and menacing manner said "So you want me to put all the stuff back in place". If a customer declines a service, which expected in the auto repair business, the owner shouldn't react in an angry manner. I did not move forward with the repair. When I arrived to pick up my car, Chris told me that the cost of checking the vehicle was $180 bucks! I complaint about it but he refused to reduce the cost. Since this experience had a fishy smell, I asked for a second and third opinion. Guess what? I was told that the water pump was in good condition. Simply put, at this place they wanted to overcharge me for an inexistent issue. On more thing, at this place, it appears they play the good / bad cop script. Edi is the ill-educated cop whereas Chris pretends to be the nice guy that wants to help you. So watch out! read more

My Toyota Corolla's brakes started making a terrible sound and my car was jolting after I had ignored a bad sound for a while and continued my ~2 hours of daily commute. Oops.. I had to be towed here by AAA and they were ready for us when we got there around 5:30. Chris is amazing and was very communicative throughout the whole process, despite them being busy. I am not someone who takes care of my car, so there ended up being a lot of immediate issues. They took care of my brakes, brake fluid, belt, and rotated my tires. They were able to get all of this done by the NEXT DAY!!!!!!! Chris was so patient with me even though I called repeatedly and was probably a pretty annoying customer, so I am incredibly grateful for these guys. It was pricy, but I'm only saying this because these were emergency repairs that I was not financially prepared for. If you know you need something done, these guys are worth it. read more

I always come in for a tune up before big road trips, and even though my car needed a lot of repair work today, Chris worked with me in advance to help lower the costs. For example, I brought in some parts I found on Ebay, and the folks at Bert's were happy to use them. Plus, Chris knocked off anything that was not necessary. By the end of the day, my bill was lower - not higher - than we'd initially agreed. Additionally, Chris and Christine work with jokes and smiles. Even in a stressful moment, I feel so taken care of by the team, who are friendly and go above and beyond with their service and care for us customers. I had a car that broke down on Cahuenga Blvd. and was towed to Bert's Garage at the recommendation of my AAA driver. The car was kept overnight inside a locked gated area. That made me feel a lot better. The car wheel on my old 2008 Hyundai had broken off and had practically fallen off the vehicle. To be honest, I felt the car might be totaled. It's an old workhorse that's seen better days. I was expecting to be quoted a bill higher than the car's worth. I spoke with the receptionist Nancy, and the mechanic Chris. I explained I was unemployed and my funds were limited. The two help keep my bill to a minimum. They applied a triple AAA discount. A bolt had busted off from the tire arm. Chris drilled out the broken screw to keep my repair costs to a minimum. He had the car up and running again in a few hours. The bill was very reasonable. It's hard to find a reliable mechanic and I am happy to say that I have... and in my neighborhood! I am very wary of mechanics (like doctors) and ended up at Bert's 7 years ago because of the reviews here on Yelp. Both times I've taken my car in, the service was quick, and seemed fair and reasonable. Fast forward to an unfortunate car accident last month, and Bert's to the rescue! Chris helped me get my car towed to their shop even though I pulled in as they were preparing to leave for the night. My car was pretty badly damaged but when I picked it up 3 weeks later, I was so pleased with the results! My car looked brand new, and was even cleaned inside and out by their staff. Working with Aaron and Chris to finalize the insurance and payment and then take my car home was a breeze and they did everything they could to make sure I felt great about the process. I was looking for a new mechanic who was local to me. They're near my place so I figured to give them a try. They are truly incredible. They are reliable, friendly, and their work is reliable. I have done routine maintenance on my car here. But more so- when I was involved in a car accident, they took care of everything! They worked directly with the insurance adjuster and made it all such a smooth process. No added headaches. These guys are great, always friendly and trustworthy. BEST OF THE BEST. Cream of the crop. The way a business should be run. I have no idea where this place has been all my life but I've found my go-to for the rest of my time in LA (so um, forever?) which started with the dumbest thing. My door on my driver's side couldn't open from the inside. Took it in and they immediately assisted me- removed the door and diagnosed the problem within minutes: a frayed cable from overuse apparently...something that would only happen to me, I said to myself, as I always joke I have the worst luck sometimes. Well that occurrence actually turned into absolute luck as, had it not been for all that happening I would never have discovered Eddie...or his son Vatche, or his colleague Art. I still can't believe how chill, friendly, and attentive they are. On top of that, they and their establishment are absolutely professional. Communicative with calls/follow-ups, clean/welcoming interior (I honestly would have had no problem staying in the waiting area had I not had errands to run), and clearly satisfied customers coming through/happy crew working there was like a breath of fresh air. I've felt like a nobody when I've done walk-ins at other service joints, just a pure number, but here I feel they were genuinely glad I've become a customer. Bert's was recommended by a good friend who has been going to them for over a decade. For the same reasons why he does, I immediately felt the same, from my first interaction with Eddie: just an overall good vibe and a natural assurance you will never get ripped off here. This review is quite overdue. I've been coming to this shop for all my car needs for years now. From mechanical to body work they have me covered. They do great quality work without crazy dealer prices. The staff has always been very friendly and they really make sure that you are comfortable and informed throughout the entire process. Their shop is super clean and organized. I feel good and safe about leaving my car with them. Vik is usually who I deal with. However, Eddie, Jonathan and the rest of the crew are great.
