There are activities and we liked that residents are encouraged to go to the dining room to eat rather than being isolated in their room. All rooms have individual phones and TV's. Mom enjoyed her stay here. As a family we were pleased with the care mom received and would reccomend the facility to anyone seeking rehab or longterm care for their loved one.

First person welcoming me was a Elaina Zeiger, the "Russian program Director. It was a worm welcoming, Elaina private me a strong support and excellent to me all the process, that's was new experience to me. Elaina helped me in all the stages of the administration and comforting me and my mother. My mother was a very difficult us a patient. The Russian speaking nurses and a Russian speaking personal was very knowledgeable, supportive and caring My mom living at Sunrise over the year, she established strong friendship with a residents and a personal. She gains a joy to live there, she feels she live at the nice resort where everything is great I travel all the time and feel so grateful my mother enjoys her life with a new family. The community and culture is very important, when I go visit my mother at the Sunshine I fell a go visit my home and my family. They made all kinds of promises to get our family to sign away Medicare benefits so that they could begin collecting fees and delivered on none. They made diagnoses based on scant information, told us we would direct decisions about care, then just plowed ahead with their own plans without communicating at all. Nursing care was burnt-out, depleted and lacking in compassion. Social work/grief counselors were inexperienced and unprofessional. Leadership was unresponsive and antagonistic. They facilitated our parents' demise and somehow, made the most difficult time imaginable markedly worse.

I love this place. I posted a review after my aunt had only been here 3 weeks saying how happy I…read morewas with it. My feelings towards this place have only gotten better. My aunt is treated with kindness, respect and dignity. When my family visits, we usually do it pretty early and she is always up, washed well, and dressed. My aunt has been in a few facilities before this one and there is no comparison. The place is always clean (except on the occasion when a patient may have an accident and the smell lingers until they are cleaned up, which they are and pretty fast, but that's every facility). The nurses, aids, case mgr, PT, activities personnel, housekeeping and even the kitchen help are always busy, but never too busy to take the time to help with anything my aunt or our family needs. I know I have read some negative reviews about this place, but they seem old. I know since my aunt has been here, a few months now, I haven't seen anything but caring, compassionate staff. I would list them all by name if I could, but there are so many. I've yet to meet even one rude staffer, never even so much as heard one rude comment. What I see is how good they treat my aunt and they treat all the other patients with just as much kindness. I couldn't be more grateful! Thank you, Sachem!!

My mother had a stroke and went through intensive rehabilitation at Spaulding in Charlestown, MA…read more After insurance rejected continued coverage at Spaulding, I had only one day to find a place she could receive step down care for the remainder of her rehabilitation before going back to independent living in a senior community. Sachem had high ratings on paper, so we chose it without checking it out first. Big mistake. The day she transferred in, I went to check the place out, only to be greeted by a strong sewage smell at the front door. I was too late, she was already in a double room. Within 4 days, I saw a significant decline in all of the progress my mother had made. Her speech started to become unclear again and she was confined to a wheel chair or bed. I asked the head nurse what steps I would need to take to transfer her to another, better step down facility. That's the only time things started to change. I met with the coordinators of social services, physical and occupational therapy, and nursing to discuss a plan. In the meantime, some of my mothers belongs went missing. They moved her to a private room and she ended up staying for the rest of the approved time at Sachem, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I had to argue that I simply wanted my mother treated with the same courtesy and care they would give their OWN mothers. Apparently, they don't care about their own moms, because little changed. If there was anything good from the experience, it would be that it helped my mother start to process her fear of additional strokes, because she wanted out of Sachem so badly.

The practitioners here are exceptionally trained and qualified, with most, if not all, having advanced degrees in Physical Therapy and extensive practical hands-on experience. Samantha ("Sammy") Rondeau, DPT, led my first series of PT sessions for right knee replacement. This was personally challenging as I'd never experienced a surgery or recovery like this one. Sammy outlined, explained, and led 3-times a week sessions to restore movement and full use of my right leg. This included home exercises (I continue to use as part of my home workouts.) Sammy is also leading my rotator cuff PT (which I started this week.) A comprehensive assessment coupled with MD recommendations precedes physical therapy here. Everyone here is very client-focused. Lots of off-street parking and a comfortable waiting room. The staff are all upbeat and eager to guide the rest of us to improved health. There are many PT clinics in the immediate area, but I am very fortunate to work with this one.
