We loved our stay at the Berlin Marriott Hotel. We were on the 8th floor and it was very quiet. We rarely ran into other guests on our floor. The health club facilities are nice. I used the gym and the pool. We were able to check in about 2-3 hours early, which was wonderful after our flight from Belgium. The hotel is walking distant to many of the major tourist attractions.

This hotel was great is every aspect of the hospitality business. The check in process was a breeze. The staff were well-trained and professional and paid attention to every details. I noticed that she came around to my side of the counter, with both hands, to give me my key (just in case my electronic key would not work). The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. They have me in a room with the panorama view of the city - but there was really not much to see. The part that I enjoyed the most was the shower. They set the bar for the rain shower. I had 2 options - the rain shower from the ceiling or the handset. The ceiling rain shower had great water pressure and really hit the spot coming in from mostly non A/C environment in Berlin (it was 94 in a heat wave when I was there). Finally, location, location, and location - it is in a great location walking distance to near to all the main attractions. This will be my default choice of stay when I come back to Berlin

We arrived late in the day and the check in process was very smooth and our room was ready. Inside, we found a welcome plate of mini donuts - a lovely surprise! The executive lounge is accessible via key card (no receptionist which made the process smoother) and was spacious (never had trouble grabbing a table). For breakfast they serve standard fare like breads and bacon, and the scrambled eggs were surprisingly delicious. They have a wide selection of tea and soft drinks. We were never around for the dinner serving, but late at night they usually have some fruit and cheese. Note that while the lounge closes at midnight, they clean up early and the beverages and food tend to be gone by 11:30pm.

Beds are really comfortable, on the firm side. Beddings are good quality but not luxe. No US outlets or outlets for USB, video, etc. suggests this place hasn't been updated for some time. But, you don't feel it based on the upkeep. I have stayed in various rooms of this hotel, no bathtub. The shower is good. Water temperature is not steady though. Not an issue for me. The location of this Marriott is perfect for travelers as it is close to the Potsdamer Platz hub. There is also the Sony Center nearby for entertainment. Not a neighborhood though so if you are looking for mingling with the locals, this isn't the place. Several dining options nearby, including a Starbucks around the corner - a lot of Americans stay here.

Had a wonderful time visiting the lobby bar, they have many comfortable seating arrangements, both public and more intimate, regardless of where you sit you guaranteed excellent service. The wine list is spectacular, a great selection of small plates as well as wonderful cheeseburgers. The lobby also has a cigar lounge in it, a wonderful way to end the day, walk in ask for your cigar, drink and RELAX.

Very nice location: near some tourist spots, walking distance to the mall of berlin, near a bus stop & train station. Ideal for families & for busy people. Lounge are spacious & comfortable. The food being serve are all good quality. Services are top as well ! Room are very clean, comfortable & spacious. Will definitely recommend to family & friends.

Ubers are all over the city and they arrive FAST! The hotel has a gigantic glowing red sign at the top of the hotel so that if you are walking, you can spot it quickly. This hotel is located in what was East Berlin. It is a lovely hotel. There is a lovely grand staircase on the first floor. If you arrive and realize you forgot your power adapter, the hotel will allow you to use one while you are there. They will charge you 20 euros for the use and will remove the charge once you return the adapter. We book our hotels through Marriott.com and use the default settings, we were told that we need to pay extra for the second guest, we said no problem. Elevators: there are 3 running elevators. Room: on checks-in we asked if there were any room upgrades. We got a junior suite (Room 572). A keycard is required to make the elevator move. Room 572 is far from the center of the hotel. Your walk down a long corridor so I was thrilled it is far from the elevators. It is a nice spacious room with sitting area opposite the bedroom. The room runs hot, so we turned off the furnaces and then opened the windows to cool the room down. Even with the furnace off, the room was warm. There is a nice no brand Nespresso machine with pods. There is a mini fridge where you can purchase drinks to consume in your room. Bathroom: very spacious and well lit bathroom that made easy to apply makeup with plenty of counter space. The mirror is the right height for me at 5'8" tall. There is a standing shower. Nice amenities: shampoo, conditioner, body lotion. Living room: nice size TV, desk area with one plug with USB-C and USB connector. There are plenty of European plugs for charging. Couch for watching TV, 2 ottoman style seating for putting on your shoes, and a table for eating snacks. Bedroom: King size bed with nightstands on each side. The night stands have European plugs with 2 USB connectors for charging devices. Smaller TV and tiny when considering distance to the bed for watching TV. Gym: there is a small gym onsite with a sauna. The gym is located in an odd area. We were told go to room 513 and take the elevator down to the gym. Sure enough go to room 513 and there is a tiny elevator. Take it down and you come to a lobby area. The sauna is off to the right but the door was locked the entire time we were here. Then you go around the corner to a series of doors. Open the one directly in front of you and it opens to an awkward open area. It looks like a pool should have been built there. But there are seating places to the right and left and the incense is quite strong, maybe a meditation area? There is a workout area to the left with treadmill and stuff and a water station. Sleep Quality: during the day we could hear noises from other rooms and ambulances screaming by on the street below. At night we could hear people stomping above us but when it came to sleeping time, the noises stopped. The sleep quality was very good but the hotel felt empty for most of the days we were here. During the summer months, it might be a different story. Breakfast: included with our room since we are Marriott Elite. We ate there everyday for our trip and our last day, the young girl was your reservation is only 1 person. We said no, we paid at check-in and 2 should be included for breakfast. After quite is discussion, she was quiet and happy after checking. The breakfast buffet is very nice and highly recommend. There is a nice omelet station. NOTE: There are two Rewe grocery stores within walking distance of the hotel. The first one has a better beer selection. The second is within a bigger mall building and has a better bakery than the first Rewe. Bring your own bags or purchase has expensive reusable Rewe bag.

Overall a full service, clean hotel in a good location…read more Arrival: Arrived by Uber from the main train station. No doormen upon arrival. Check in: Fairly efficient check in process. Asked for a free room upgrade based on my Marriott/Westin status and the clerk upgraded us to a junior suite. Room Junior Suite 572: A large, comfortable room, huge by European standards. The suite included a large living room and a separate bedroom with king bed. Both the living room and bedroom had smallish Samsung TVs (small by U.S. standards). Nice coffee maker and mini refrigerator. Bathroom: Decent bathroom with good counter space and great lighting. Downside is no tub- shower only. Water pressure was adequate. Mediocre but functional hair dryer. Bed: King sized bed with decent linens. We had to remove the heavy liner from the duvet because the room was on the warm side. Sleep quality: Better than average, but some street noise made its way through the windows. Housekeeping: Unless you're proactive in asking, the housekeeping is below average. For example, we had no facial tissues for 2 days. Once we left a note and a tip, the facial tissue was restocked. Sometimes complimentary water was restocked, some days not. Breakfast restaurant: Based on our Marriott status, we received a nice complimentary breakfasts. Service at the breakfast restaurant is pathetic, but the food was good. We consistently were not served coffee. So we simply grabbed coffee urns each morning. Staff for some reason only offered coffee and any level of service to older Germans. Anyone foreign or young the staff ignored. Overall service: Between reluctant and non-existent. That's Germany for you. Don't expect helpful staff. Gym: Small but functional gym with standard exercise equipment like treadmills, weights, etc. Power outlets: Be sure to bring adapters for German outlets. The room had no U.S.-type power outlets. Misc: (1) On our last day, we found a silverfish in the bathroom. Also, this hotel allows pets. We consistently heard dogs barking on rooms. (2) There's a Rewe grocery store about 5 blocks away from the hotel. Bring reusable grocery bags to haul your purchases back to the hotel. (3) We were skeptical but tried a Kebab restaurant nearby. Wow! The Donor kebaps are great! Try Mr. Kebab 4 blocks away.

This is one time I wish the star rating went higher…read more We stayed at the Circus Apartments, which are just a couple of blocks away and we were fabulously impressed. The apartment was HUGE, with a full kitchen so we could ease into our day. The kitchen is well appointed with everything I needed to be able to cook some meals. There is a nearby Edeka & Bio Market for easy grocery shopping. The decor in the apartment building is based on a bird house & birds - they carry their theme/branding through like only the Germans can, in an incredibly thoughtful, chic, and humous way. The apartments have an elevator big enough to wrangle international luggage, which is always a plus. The apartments had ample towels, comfortable beds, and lovely service from the concierge downstairs. The welcome fruit basket & coffee provided was incredibly welcome when we woke up jet lagged & starving at 3 AM. They popped in every 2 days to take out the trash & restock towels for us - this was the best of both worlds: hotel service with apartment space & privacy. There is a new laundry room, all decked out that was readily available and thankfully had instructions because despite speaking German, I find their washing machines to be entirely confounding. The attached restaurant downstairs Erchy's has lovely service & great food at decent prices. Would definitely recommend both the apartments and the restaurant.

Located in a very busy intersection of neighborhoods, The Circus Hotel is a nice, clean,…read morecomfortable place with a few notable exceptions. For many westerners it is important to note that they DO NOT have air conditioning. They don't even have a fan system. This means on rainy, humid, or warm days the room can get pretty muggy. The claim is that it never gets hot/warm in Berlin - for Europeans I suppose, and something about being environmentally friendly, though I didn't quite buy it. Sounded more like a way to cut costs. The bathrooms are very nice in the single rooms. Walk in showers with great water pressure, and unbelievably scalding hot water if you want it. Clean, with plenty of towels. Along the lines of that whole "green" gimmick, you have to insert, and leave, your key card into a slot next to the door to get the lights to come on. This will drive you crazy. Bathroom lights, main room lights, etc. If it's late at night and you have to use the bathroom get ready to wake the whole room up. Luckily by the desk there is a small, wall mounted light with a switch. Without that and the light from the street I would have been in serious trouble. Heavy curtains! They also put a large, half filled beanbag chair in the room... Not sure why... it's uncomfortable as hell and just in the way. The wifi was a little unsure at first and requires you to login every few hours or so. An annoyance that could be better. It works and it's pretty quick. Never the less the room we had on the 1st floor was very clean, modern, spacious, and comfortable. Bigger than most American hotels of the same price. Quiet when the windows are closed. There are no ice or vending machines, but downstairs is their in-house, decent German restaurant. The 8 Euro all you can eat organic buffet breakfast is an odd mix of stuff. From tuna salad, cheeses, and breads to salami, hard boiled eggs and cereals. Lots of variety but all European. This means no eggs, bacon, and pancakes for those who might expect it. This is -not- the Holiday Inn. Great food, very well done, very nicely presented, and they do a great job with it. Very impressive. Sit outside in the garden, it's fantastic. The desk folks are very nice, they all speak English, and have lots of little things that really, really come in handy, such as: stamps, umbrellas, packing tape, hair and body wash for free, etc. You might get someone whose English is a bit halting and they may seem unfriendly but really they're not. Immensely helpful and patient. The hotel sits at the confluence of 4 intersections, above a subway, with an above ground tram to boot! This means outside it can get noisy but the windows are thick and you don't hear anything unless it sirens. The location is perfect for just getting somewhere. When you exit the subway at Rosenthaler Straße (U8 line) be sure to exit the Torstraße side. If you do the hotel will be right there, 15 feet from the exit, next to the Chinese restaurant. If you don't then it's down the block. Lots of cafes and tourist shops nearby, post office down the street, etc. I never figured out the train system. Apparently you're supposed to buy a ticket when you go down into the subway - there are no fare gates - but some Germans told me only tourists buy tickets and everyone just walks down and gets on the train, so that was pretty cool. The trains go everywhere but they're are different lines run by different companies, so they don't all look the same. This can be very confusing when the desk gives you directions somewhere. Overall I give this place a 4 out of 5. It's clean, great location, comfortable, and they really try to make the stay as comfortable as possible. I ding them one star for the a/c - or any kind of fan/air circulation system. It may sound tedious to some but having grown up with it, especially the air circulation system in general, a background noise like an a/c unit to drown out street noise is really helpful, not to mention keeping the air circulating is nice. I would have liked to have seen more information about the room, the hotel, services, and frequently asked questions. The room had a nice personalized message welcoming us to the hotel, with their very own own hotel magazine, but information such as the wifi password, using the lights, etc. were no where to be found in the magazine or anywhere in the room that we could find. So for a westerner just be prepared to go with the flow and ask lots of questions. ie. If the lights don't work, there's probably a reason and you'll need to ask. All that said I will probably return. When you do the euro to US conversion it's a little expensive, but for Berlin, for the location, etc. it's very nice. A little out away from the main tourist sections in a more neighborhood setting. Safe to walk around at night and the beds are comfortable.

The rooms are perfectly sized - not overwhelming but not cramped, stocked with robes and slippers and wonderful toiletries, and the rain shower is awesome. The staff are diverse, young, and exceptionally helpful and congenial. The hotel is located just a few steps around the corner from the Weinmeisterstrasse U8 station.
