LOVE this hotel. Very fashionable while still being extremely comfortable. The beds are great, the staff is nice and there's some wonderful common spaces near reception to lounge, meet up or get some work done. The restaurant and bar upstairs are gorgeous. Also they overlook the zoo which is pretty unique. I heard the monkeys waking up while getting my coffee this morning.
The rooms are really well done. My favorite part was the lighting. The bathroom and foyer areas are all black with slowly changing colored lighting hidden in the ceiling. The room is also very smartly laid out- with natural dividers between the shower, sink and bed areas. So the space feels much bigger than it is because there's a designated, well-thought area for each activity. Also, each room comes with an ipod radio clock with both 4 and 5 docks, so even as an American I could come into the room, pop my iphone in the dock and start charging my phone and playing my own music as soon as I walked in. No need to fuss with adapters, but if you need one, the staff downstairs has plenty to lend out.
I loved the hand-done sketches that decorated the walls, as well as the calming, yet chic color choices. My room looked out over the Europa Center and there was a church nearby that woke me up several mornings with the most beautifully-odd church bells I've ever heard. They were these strange, soft, fluid sounds in minor notes that sounded both hand-played and electronic at the same time.
Train and bus stations are very nearby, so this is an easy location to zip in and out of. Lots of shopping. Although most of the stores are commercial stuff you can get anywhere. If you're looking for more interesting shopping/bars/restaurants probably not the best area, but I was here for business and didn't mind exploring other parts of the city for those things.
Overall this is a very cool, well-designed hotel with a lot of handy conveniences and comforts. read more
