I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel during my two night stay. This was part of a package deal so I wasn't sure what to expect, from the outside it appears quite small located in a residential neighborhood but don't be fooled- amazing restaurants and the underground train are all within a 10 minute walk. It's really a 3.5 but I'm feeling generous.
I had no issue at check in despite the freezer burn I got from the lady at the desk. There was no warmth or welcome, just very matter of fact and almost a keen-ness to get rid of me. There is a male worker I had more contact with who seemed a bit nicer and acknowledged my existence when I walked in and out of the building.
Unfortunately for me, I arrived on a 34 degree day. Factor the weather into your stay, as this resulted in an awful nights sleep. There is no air-conditioning so I left the window open all night, inviting mosquitoes to feast on my gross and sweaty body. The room, being quite small was like a furnace! It retained heat throughout the night. Second night, not as bad as the weather cooled down. Still, this building retained heat like nobody's business.
The room itself was quite clean and for a single, had more than enough room. There was a small kitchenette with a fridge and microwave and the shower in the bathroom had a good water pressure.
Like I said previously, this hotel is very close to Tiergarten, the underground train and a number or local restaurants, two of which I tried and both were just perfection. The Kaiser and Netto are around less than a 10 minute walk away and I just bought my own breakfast and kept it in the fridge to save on costs.
I also need to add that wifi here is rubbish. It goes in and out the the signal strength was consistently poor when it was working. It would probably not be suitable if you need a consistent wifi connection but if you're out all day it shouldn't be too much of an issue.
Overall I would reccomend this hotel, especially if you're just having a few days in Berlin. The neighborhood felt safe enough for me to walk around at night by myself and was nice and quiet. I would also come back, pending cooler weather so I don't get eaten alive by mosquitoes and end up falling asleep in a pool of my own sweat. read more
