I am honestly embarrassed to even be seen going there to be judged. I have been a member of Soho House for several years, and while it was never perfect, it has deteriorated significantly. Whatever sense of creativity and authenticity it once had is completely gone. It has become a haven for fake 'wannabes' with no artistic contribution, no intellectual depth, and no meaningful conversation. It's not a place for genuine creatives or inspiring individuals anymore--just for people chasing exclusivity without having anything exclusive to offer. apart from some VERY unprofessional membership staff I sometimes use the gym and spa which are tiny and no better than any place in Berlin, but I avoid the rest of the club because the atmosphere is unbearable. Sitting upstairs feels like being surrounded by a hollow, performative crowd offering no substance and no genuine interaction. There's no essence, no deep interaction, no intellectual engagement--just fake exclusivity and shallow encounters. Soho House needs to seriously rethink its purpose and values. Without change, it will continue to alienate the very people it once sought to attract while becoming a parody of itself. I can't wait to end my membership and free myself from the shame of being there. read more

I remember when George Clooney and Matt Damon were left alone in the restaurant - I can't see that happening today. The service and food quality is the same as it's ever been - variable. It's really hit or miss. The seating is rather uncomfortable to eat - the best option is in the kitchen area against the windows, the big wooden table in the back on the 7th floor, or outside on the roof. The service is also variable - it's weird - they give a lot of attention at the beginning, then forget to bring menus or take the order, but then the food comes rather quickly. Then it takes forever to get their attention to ask for the check, then they forget to come back to take the cash or come with the card machine. It's also weird that they just haven't been able to work out the kinks with the food and service quality after all this time. So... why 4 stars ( I was tempted to give three)? Well, it's actually a beautiful place - the lobby, restaurant and roof are great just to hang out and have some drinks. The events can also be a lot of fun and the screening room is great. There is just something here to really enjoy, as long as you go in with a patient attitude, knowing that it's likely something will go wrong with the service - and it did during our breakfast. read more

Arrive and enter this late Bauhaus building, which was once a Communist Party archive, passing a collection of black bicycles for rent near the front door. While checking in with the hip and friendly folks behind the counter, don't miss the Damien Hirst shark on the wall. Just don't try snapping a photo of it as pictures are against house rules. Take the lift up to your room and you'll soon find yourself ensconced in glamour reminiscent of the 1930's-40's. Designer Susie Atkins has managed to fuse English country florals with German industrial, and as incongruous as it sounds, it works! The aesthetic can only be described as the lovechild which emerges when British B&B meets Ace Hotel. Wifi is free and works well (still a rarity in these parts.) There's both tea and coffee plus an immersion kettle in the room. And a tin of fresh, complimentary cookies waiting for you. Water, both still and sparkling, are also gratis. I've stayed in two of the smaller rooms and spent one night in an extra large room playing records and gazing out the windows at Berlin below. Regardless of which of the five room sizes you end up in, it's hard not to love the amenities the Soho House Berlin provides in each and every one of them. From a bathroom loaded with goodies - mouthwash, deodorant, tampons, condoms, lip balm, ear plugs, plus tons of Cowshed products - to one of the most luxuriant showers I've hung my head under this year, it's hard to find a single flaw. Except maybe the overzealous housekeeping staff who knock even if the sign on the door asks them to leave you be... Head immediately up to the rooftop pool bar, which is buzzing all night long. Some people swim laps but most guzzle alcohol instead. Great cocktails are to be had here and standouts include the Berlin Mule and the Rag Time. If you're hungry, there's plenty of room to eat, day or night, on the club floor. Settle into a super plush sofa or snag a seat on the terrace and tuck into pizza, a club sandwich, currywurst or schnitzel. The food is nicely done and utilizes very fresh ingredients. And when the time comes to unwind, head to the Cowshed Spa in the basement for a massage or a mani/pedi. It's hard to imagine what this haven of hip could do better and as such the Soho House Berlin is my favourite hotel in the world right now. read more

As a member, it's always great checking out new Soho Houses throughout the world. The Berlin location has a hotel attached, so you can enjoy all of the amenities without being a member like the pool, spa, restaurant spaces, etc... My hotel room was perfect for the one night, at least aesthetically. There was sadly an unpleasant smell that permeated the room and tainted the last half of the stay. It was so bad, we had to alert the hotel staff. But besides the assault on my olfactory bulb, it was a beautiful room with lots of midcentury modern flair and Cowshed bath products. The rest of the property features a very expensive store with Hypebeast approved apparel, a rooftop pool, a bar, restaurant, and all the other elements that you have come to expect from Soho House. Hopefully they solved that issue with the awful smell, because woof--that was bad. But you should definitely look into a stay here, especially if you can take advantage of the Spontaneous Stays deals through the House Seven app. read more

I arrived at Soho House in a tizzy of travel and work and meetings, and stress oh my... but man, Soho House took good care of me. A million thoughtful little touches make this hip hotel an absolute pleasure to the senses. Let me paint the picture for you, Yelpers: - It's a members club, but hotel guests have full access to the club, rooftop pool, gym, spa, fitness classes and more. Boom. Instant cool. - The bathroom is stocked- and I mean *stocked*- with yummy Cowshed bath products. Full-sized bottles of multiple kinds of shampoo, conditioner, body scrub, body wash, face wash, all at the ready - There are also thoughtful little touches like condoms, massage oil, extra toothbrushes for your impromptu getting busy needs. This is a sexy hotel. - My bed was turned down nightly with a fresh bottle of water waiting for me on the bedside table. I mean, a bottle of water is such a small thing, but packaged together in this experience made it feel so magical. Where are these fairy godmothers taking care of me coming from?? - The mini bar includes complimentary chilled still and sparkling water, tea, coffee, and fresh cookies, also delivered by the fairy godmothers - The gym in superb, modern, and basking in natural light. There's even a selection of daily fitness classes you can attend. I survived two 90-min power yoga classes (one in German) and felt like a better version of myself afterwards. - The rooftop pool is an oasis in Berlin summer. Get there early to grab a sofa and enjoy the sunscreen they thoughtfully keep nearby so you don't get burned Overall, I'm beyond impressed. The value for money for this magical experience is super high. I paid nearly the same price I would pay at a chain hotel but the experience doesn't even compare. Confession: I am edging on 30 and never had a manicure until last month. Why? In my childhood I was a nail biter, and even when I (mostly) outgrew it, I still just didn't care much about my nails and how they looked, other than that they were clean, and short (for instrument playing). So when I got married this summer, I decided I needed to get my nails done. And why not splurge? So I option to go to the Cowshed Spa at Soho House. The idea of an exclusive club that costs a ton of money to be a member of is actually quite stupid, in my mind, but I am glad that some areas are accessible to non-members, spa included. We arrived and walked downstairs into the dark basement, where we found the spa. Upon walking in, we were immediately relaxed. It's soothing, with calm music and soft lights. We were offered flavored water and tea, then sat down and waited in the corner, since we were a bit early. Once my appointment time came up, I went and sat down on one of the super cozy chairs. My best friend was allowed to sit next to me and hang out, which was nice. And my manicurest was very sweet and sociable, and all the interactions were pleasant. She also gave me recommendations on color, suggesting a more toned-down shade than the one I originally picked, which turned out to be the right choice. I chose the 45-minute treatment, since it covered everything, and was recommended for someone who has either never had nails done, or who doesn't do it frequently at all. And I am mostly pleased with how it turned out. Important to note: the manicure lasted about 5 days before it started to chip a bit, which is good considering that my self-manicures usually go about 2 days before that happens, but also just OK when I see that my friend who got a manicure in the states had nails that lasted more than a week before chipping. But all I cared about was that they looked good on the actual wedding day, and they did. However, the treatment did result in one nail having the cuticles cut too much, which meant my finger bled for about 30 minutes. And the spray-on hydrogen peroxide was applied multiple times to my finger, which is good for sanitary reasons, but hurt so much, and didn't do much to help my relaxation. All in all, my nails looked nice, but I did notice later that the sides were not fully painted, just the top area. So glancing at them they looked nice, but inspecting them more in-depth showed that they were not fully painted. I get that it's better to leave a blank space than to paint the skin, but I figured with how much I was paying, they would cover the whole nail and then go back and remove extra bits of polish later... Anyway, I would probably not go here again. Even though it felt nice to treat myself, I can't really justify €45 on a manicure that is good, but not amazing. Also, vegans take note: Cowshed uses Essie nail polish. I didn't think to inquire about this ahead of time, but if I had, I probably wouldn't have gone there, as Essie is owned by L'oreal and the company does animal testing. Not cool. I think the Essie shades are really quite lovely, but prefer to give my business (whether directly or indirectly) to a company that offers ethical products, and there are plenty of high-end, vegan nailpolishes out there. read more

Stayed here for one night on my birthday this past year - had a GREAT time at the Soho House. This is a first-class joint. Everyone was friendly and made me feel at home, even though I am definitely a few years beyond my hipster days. My "Tiny" room turned out to be larger than most. It was very well stocked with products from the Cow Shed spa downstairs, lots of magazines and even cookies with tea. The room rate was not bad at all. The only small issue I had was when a friend of mine dropped by for a drink - I was told that I needed to tell the front desk BEFORE he arrived about his visit. Soho House is a 'club' hotel and non-members who are not residents are not allowed to visit the bar and restaurant areas on the upper floors. And you can only invite one person if you are a non-member guest. Just an FYI. Food was excellent here as were the drinks. Had a surprisingly good risotto - a difficulty dish to prepare correctly. Last year I visited hotels in seven nations, ranging from Japan (Tokyo) to Portugal. The Soho House was my favorite. Will definitely return. read more

A wonderful lounge area, wonderful roof with a pool and a view towards the TV Tower over Berlin-magnificent, and to that is a relaxing mini theater (where you can lay!) . The prices are very high and the service is from a scale from one to ten a eight and a half. I am amazed that the waiters can speak English and German so congrats for that. Although, I am wondering their experience in service since one of their cooking employees came into the very small and cramped elevator when like five us were already inside. Maybe I am being stingy but service is service. Best of all is the free wifi! Although in America it's a common thing to have wifi almost in every shop, Germany is still adapting to that new custom. Overall the experience was good. Also you must know that you must be a member to get inside the SoHo house and being a member is a actually a huge honor because you have to be recommend by at least two people who are members of the SoHo house and pay a monthly fee. From booking to checking in to just enjoying the hotel and its services, Soho House has 5 stars (and a high five!) from me. Finding a great rate online, I booked Soho House for my last leg of my German visit (to launch Yelp.de might I add!) After getting dropped off by the Taxi at what I thought was a school, I soon realized that in fact, it was my hotel and that the graffiti was actually a Damien Hirst painting. I was soon whisked upstairs - since this was my first time! - to show me my room (massive, stunning), the amenities (wait until you get to the goodies in the bathroom) and shown how to access the free wi-fi. But there's more: Coffee, tea and cookies are laid out on the credenza, free bottled waters and milk for your hot beverages in the mini bar and an entire BASKET of toiletries in the loo ranging from face wash, deodorant and toothpaste to condoms, tampons and 5 different types of body wash. I was also offered ridiculously low spa treatments as my "Welcome Treat" for being a hotel guest. Upstairs is a pool and 2 floors devoted to a well laid out bar and lounge. The food? The food is delicious and varied from really, really good pizzas (says the girl from NY) to currywurst and chips. You can also rent bikes from the front desk to cruise around Berlin and see the many sights. A few things to note: housekeeping is VERY intense and will knock on your door, pretend not to hear you and walk in whether you like it or not (or should I say, are clothed or not). You also aren't allowed to be on your mobile phone, take pictures (as Miriam and I found out the hard way as we snapped pics of ourselves on the rotating couch in the lobby. I mean it's a rotating couch. How can you NOT take pictures?!) or wear ties. You are also allowed one visitor per room. Allegedly it adds to the "relaxed" atmosphere. But you know what, I don't mind. And when you see the biggest king sized bed of your life, you won't mind either. read more

I get it. You need a membership to dine at the rooftop restaurant. It's a scene. It's just not one I'm particularly into. Though my salad was fantastic, and my aperol spritz very refreshing...the air of exclusivity left me a bit lukewarm to the whole thing. Yes, the pool is quite fantastic. But membership? In Berlin. With all the cool places to go, I just don't feel it. If you are staying at the hotel, then by all means...makes total sense. But, to have a membership to be allowed upstairs to eat lunch? Eh, no. As an update to my review from two years ago, I am now down to two stars only - bordering on one. With this, I am only reviewing the restaurant on the 7th (members') floor. What happened in the last two years? In short, the 7th floor was extensively remodelled - the new design is brighter, yet somehow still impractical in details. And the washrooms are still dark, dark, dark. Service is - still - a mixed bag. Which is increasingly unforgivable for a place which charges five-star prices. And the food - oh dear. Compared to when the place started not too long ago, you get less and less for higher and higher prices. Today's example: My club sandwich - usually a safe bet here - arrived served on a metal plate which could only be described as "rudimentarily clean". Not good. While the taste of the sandwich was ok, the quantity was not. (Compared to a couple of years ago, the volume has gone down to about 40% of the good ol' days.) The "fries" which appeared alongside the sandwich were burnt and tiny, in fragments no longer than 3cm each. Yes, it seemed the kitchen had literally scraped the bottom of the barrel. Honestly, these fries should have never left the kitchen - unless in a rubbish in. And all these culinary delights for €15. Bargain. Not. Add a Diet Coke 0,2 (!) for €3,50. To be fair, the waiter took the fries off my bill. Alas, I'd rather have had a decent meal instead. Service, as I already mentioned, is often not up to the five-star price point. Again, there are a few absolute stars on the team of waiters and floor managers, alas, far too often you get stuck with the amateur who believes looking hip is sufficient to provide good service. If the prices were lower, a lot of this might be forgivable. Alas, they have priced themselves into the five-star corner. And simply have to deliver. Update 2018: Lukewarm rosé. Nuff said. read more

One of my favorite spots in Berlin. The restaurant and lounge area upstairs is great, similar to other Soho Houses in terms of food and service (meaning everything is above average and the service is hit-or-miss). Very sceney. The spa is nice, very German (meaning co-ed/nude). Very clean, quiet and relaxing. Didn't stay at the hotel but our friends stayed in one of the lofts and it was gorgeous; very homey and modern at the same time with a full kitchen. A friend who is a member says she uses this as her home gym and she loves it. They have the same rules as some of the others for the under-27 crowd (half price on Sundays and Mondays; I actually think it's good for any members under 30). No complaints! As far as food recs, I'd suggest the brunch buffet, the croquettes, the pizzas and the club sandwich. Cocktails are on point as always (although particular to this location). They sadly don't have my favorite off-menu items from the LA outpost, the Eaton Mess and that salt-and-pepper vodka cocktail. read more

Eyebrows trimming. The girl was nice, and she seemed to know what she was doing. But she wasn't. She was ready in 5 min top. Seriously I rather pay well and get a good job done. And not throw away 10€ for a random trimming my mom could do it for me. She said. Oh it is fast with me... Honestly she didn't seem to care I Guess. Also the room was very nice and relaxing. But probably too dark for such a job. It is a spa. But quality should be a priority. I got home and I notice a very poor job on my eyebrows. She Imply took some hairs out of my eyebrow, but didn't find the natural shape of it. So even messed it up slightly. Weird place for Berlin... 50% of the staff is friendly. Nice room. Good food. Sadly, most of the staff I encountered during my stay at the Soho House Berlin were borderline rude and unfriendly. Restaurant service was very slow and most waitstaff acted totally indifferent. When I asked for a bottle of water at the front desk, I was reluctantly given one and told that bottled water was really only meant for check-ins and check-outs. Excuse me! Management should concentrate on hiring employees that are helpful/polite/friendly to guests rather than apathetic, hip, young, and entitled staff who can't seem to be bothered. read more

In addition, of the several meals eaten here, the quality has always ranged from inedible at worst to mediocre at best, with very high prices compared to Berlin restaurants. The Soho house should invest in a proper Chef and train the waitstaff in proper service. The rooftop had terrible service - my friends ate dinner and they didn't clear away their plates for over an hour. When we asked to order drinks we were shooed away from one bar and sent to another. The bathroom was gross too. You would think for an exclusive capitalist hellhole they would have clean bathrooms as a priority, but, no. When our drinks finally came my friend got her white wine in a jar-glass. Again, you'd think a nice glass would be used, but, no. I've been a member of Soho House for 3 years. Overall, I think it is great, 4.5 stars but I had to put it at 4. As another reviewer mentioned, it can be hit and miss-some of the staff are amazingly nice, very accomodating, while others (mostly only the waiters for some reason) can be not so good. The food is usually very good. If something is wrong, they will fix it (I've gotten rounds of gin and tonics because a pizza was late showing up) I usually only eat there on Sunday nights/Monday when everything is half price for under 27 members. The prices are more than reasonable once they are halved! The spa is also half price on Mondays for those members-a massage can just be 20 euros. I really love the cowshed spa-fluffy towels, smells nice. The ONLY thing that can make it bad are the other guests! I've seen guests walk out of a bathroom to go in and discover everything is turned upside down, wet towels are left everywhere, cups, shampoo is empty and they didn't tell anyone, etc. So then after being in the sauna relaxing, you have to pick up after the other members. People are also sometimes too loud in the hammam area. There are also not really enough bathrooms/showers, because of that I will only go there in the day or on "off-peak" hours-do not even attempt it at 7 pm on weekdays. When it's empty, then it is great :) I pretty much avoid the top pool/bar area-too crowded and not my scene, but the 7th floor dining room is much better for me, I love the fireplaces, or going with a laptop for some half price Monday lunch. It feels like a cruise ship with the big windows and comfy couches. The main thing I use is the gym-the cardio equipment is definitely lacking for me, I would love just an elliptical machine or 2, but the gym classes are great. Pump attack and body shape are my favorite, followed by the ab classes and pilates. I got into the best shape of my life just from going to those classes for a few months. I would pass on yoga-it was so crowded the 2 times I went that I left angrily after a few minutes because you can't get into it at all. It was more like competitive yoga than what I am used to. I guess there are better gyms, but it is not very expensive to be able to go to the spa/gym/movie theater/and get half price food. read more

The Hotel itself is excellent in many ways. Trendy, fun, stylish, nice rooms and all the amenities including The Spa and rooftop pool etc.. However I want to focus this review on the Club Room. I stayed in the Hotel for 3 days and had couple of breakfasts, dinner and brunch there. All meals were pretty exceptional but one really stood out- Brunch. They call it "The Feast"! This is a place to be in Berlin on a Sunday afternoon. All the staples of good brunch are there and much more... much much more. I was truly impressed with availability of anything from steaks to seafood to smoked meats and fish and cheeses; one side of the table is reserved just for deserts so come hungry :) And enjoy what it has to offer. read more

So close, and yet not there. Location is convenient but not cool - the block surrounding is nothing special, but there is a ton of stuff to see and do nearby. Very close to transit. If you are an older fuddy--duddy, this isn't the spot for you, but great if you are actually here to see and experience Berlin. Other than the graffiti "paintings" in the lobby, the decor is stylish and well planned. Great bathrooms, nice stylish rooms, and really nice gym, spa, and rooftop bar with views and a pool. Tea service in the rooms, very good bath amenities, etc. However, during our six day stay, we were woken up by construction work immediately upstairs on several days, as early as 6:30 am. On the first instance, we told the front desk, and were assured the work wouldn't start again before 9:30. Well, it happened again and again. We were offered to change rooms, but let's be honest, once settled in and unpacked, that is not happenning. In truth, our room should not have been rented out at all this week. über-trendy hotel in Berlin that requires membership which increases the hipster-cred of course. everything that is cool needs a level of excluisivity - but even in berlin? the service level is very high and no matter if you want guestlist to Berlin's trendiest clubs or if you need help to clean off red-wine stains from your clothes - the staff is there to help you. a little confused sometimes though if you are a hotel-guest or not. hotel-rooms are beautiful with everything you need as a guest: classical music playing in the room when you enter, a large bathroom with all amenities from Cowshed-products, to long-term use razors, condoms and tampoons. Best view from the rooftop where no-mobile policy applies but everyone sits on the floral couches with Mac laptops( and phones)like they havn't been outside the hotel for a month. And I don't blame them, the view over Berlin from the turqoise rooftop pool sure makes you want to move here. read more

3rd city where I got to explore SH and I was again very happy with it! This time was an even better experience because I spent a night there and I absolutely loved it. We booked a small room that was absolutely perfect: huge shower, big freestanding bathtub, big comfortable bed, super nice decoration and lightnings and what I like the most is the attention for details (milk with cookies, 5-6 different types of shampoo and shower douche gels, oil for your bath, flips flops and wardrobe, anything you need in the bathroom, water, ...). If I had to refurbish my apartment I would want it to look like this!! You got it, I enjoyed it a lot!! The gym was really nice, so was the spa. I was there after the Berlin marathon so it couldn't have been better to relax. The weather was also awesome so I relaxed on the rooftop by the pool all afternoon sipping a caipirinha. The food is also always good and well presented. In my opinion the staff is better in U.K. though. Its central location in Mitte is also very pleasant if you do decide to leave SH for a while :) read more

Stayed here in February for 10 days in an apartment room. Service was amazing! They leave you cookies, water, fresh herbs, and a fresh bucket of ice every evening. The room is large, spacious, comfortable, with Miele appliances, a washer / dryer, and a huge bathroom with heated towel rack. Room service is very reasonably priced and you don't get the crazy additional 6 euro charge you have at other larger hotels. The burger is awesome! The lounge is beautiful during the day, and at night a fig bourbon offers the perfect fix. Also the rooftop pool is super nice and heated, though still super cold during a Berlin winter! read more
